The album falls to No. 19 in sales and to No. 171 on the Billboard 200 in its second week.
Damn. I don't think Gigaton was on the 2nd week or probably in the 180s. Still thought this album would have done better. Tour started in Canada so don't know how much it will help here for next week's chart.
No, Gigaton was No. 7 in sales and No. 66 on the Billboard 200 in its second week.
Ok. I guess it was the 3rd week it was off the chart.
Oh well, at least it's on the Billboard 200 for two weeks. I recently ordered two more Dark Matter CDs, but I don't think they're going to ship for a couple/few more days. Long live Pearl Jam! 🥑
Billboard's Indie Store Album Sales chart has Dark Matter at No. 8. I will update the chart post when I get a chance with that and other info. Got back from Sacramento at 5 a.m. and still catching up.

Yea but it's still Taylor centric
I assumed-- that's why I said "out-Swifted."
Let’s see what Swift does 30 years from now (like I’ll be here to see lol)
IMO pretty damn impressive for a band about to be majority populated by 60 something’s.

She released her first album in 2006. She became a huge star with her second album, in 2008. She already has a pretty impressive record of longevity. It is very rare for a top-selling artist to sustain sales at peak level for anything close to the 16 years and counting she's currently at. Think of the recent pop stars who had hit after hit for a short period of a few years but can't buy a hit anymore. Katy Perry had five number ones from one album but hasn't hit the top ten in seven years, Lady Gaga hasn't had a hit since 2020. Both of those artists broke through in 2008, just like Swift, but only Swift is still setting sales records. Look at Adele. She set the all-time record for single-week sales in 2015, a record which still stands at 3.38 million copies. Swift's latest album sold more copies in its first week than Adele's latest album has sold in total since it was released two-and-a-half years ago, and it's not even that close.
You have multiple generations that have embraced these songs over a decade-and-a-half. People are not going to forget those songs 30 years from now. To the contrary, they'll be nostalgic for them the way a lot of Pearl Jam fans cling to their first three albums, the last of which came out 30 years ago. The difference is that Pearl Jam was the biggest artist in the country for about a year-and-a-half. Taylor Swift has been the biggest artist in the country for close to ten years and counting.
This article states that "Dark Matter" has sold 102,000 physical copies. Low sales for PJ's back catalog, but pretty descent for today's standards?
It actually says that the album has earned 102,000 equivalent units. That includes streaming equivalent units and track equivalent units (i.e., downloads). The album has actually sold somewhere around 85,000-90,000 physical copies.
Pearl Jam notches its first No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult Alternative Airplay chart in over 10 years as “Wreckage” rises to the top of the Aug. 10-dated survey.
“Wreckage,” Pearl Jam’s third leader on the list, follows “Sirens,” which ruled for three weeks in November-December 2013. The band first led with “Just Breathe” for 13 weeks in 2010.
Dark Matter debuted at No. 1 on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart dated May 4 and has earned 107,000 equivalent album units to date.
