Steal the light from our eyes Drain the blood from our hearts In all of this dark matter Take the breath from our chest Break the thoughts in our mind We're losing time, dark matter
Denounce the demigods King diamond to discard Deploy the dialogue Your word against the law
It's strange these days When everybody else pays For someone else's mistake This blame takes shape Still everybody else pays For someone else's mistake
Eroding away We're pulling apart In all of this dark matter I once heard it said And it stuck in my head Arrested the press No one knows what happened next
Renounce the demagogues King diamond to discard Deploy the dialogue Your word against the law
It's strange these days When everybody else pays For someone else's mistake This blame takes shape Still everybody else pays For someone else's mistake
No tolerance for intolerance or No patience left for impatience no more No love lost for Lost loves No sorrow for The unaccountable

The lyrics now show up on my I-phone when I stream it on Apple music and the above is 100% correct. Nice job! Now what does this song actually mean?
Yes, if you look above in the thread, you'll see that the final lyrics came from Apple Music when LizJ pointed out that they had been published there. My final draft was not anywhere near 100 percent correct. Once the official lyrics were available, I replaced my draft in the original post with the actual lyrics. I deserve no credit for actually deciphering them. I still had them saying "lick the dirt off Olajuwon's feet."
lol! Yes I see that now. Shame on me for not reading the entire thread. She posted the lyrics from Apple music on 2/13 but I did not actually see them until yesterday 2/17. I would press the lyric button and nothing would show up until 2/17. At least I thought I was pressing the lyric button. Who knows what I was doing wrong. I was like how in the world did he figure all of that out? This all took me back to the pre-internet days of the early 90's when some of the lyrics were provided in the cassette tape but a lot of them you were on your own.

It's gonna mean something different to all of us. Now that I have added my perspective of meaning to the words, I like the song more. Question is: What does it mean to you?
It's almost as if Amazon took the lyrics from the early drafts we had in this thread.
The only way to get to the bottom of this is that the Ten Club needs to overnight a copy of the album with the lyrics book to me, and I'll immediately report back to the group with what I find there.
Spotify lyrics are different as well. They dave "denounce" twice whereas apple has, and I clearly hear "renounce" the second time. Spoitify also says "came down into discord". I don't think any of the 3 "official lyrics" are the official lyrics. Do they get

Spotify definitely seems off. There’s a few times I know what they have is wrong with certainty

I second this motion.
Where are the listening party people when ya need 'em?!
Yeah, the Amazon ones definitely seem off. Once the album is released, I'm sure the official lyrics will either be posted here, or at least in the liner notes, so it will be good to see what they actually are. It's fun trying to decipher, though.

Agreed, but Apple's does seem closest.

If these are official, then my ears are terrible because I keep hearing this:
Steal the light from our eyes Drain the blood from my arms (definitely my and sounds more like arms than hearts, and you give blood from your arms) We're in all of this dark matter (definitely says we're first) Take the breath from my chest (definitely my) Break the thoughts in our mind We're losing time dark matter
Denounce the demagogues (demigods makes no sense in context, demagogues absolutely does, and it rhymes with dialogue, kinda) Came down to destroy (definitely saying destroy here, really don't think it's king diamond) Deplore the dialogue (dialogue isn't something you can really deploy, but in context it's definitely deplorable) Your word against the law
It's strange these days When everybody else pays For someone else's mistake Display takes shakes (not sure about this, definitely hearing dis-play, and it sounds like shakes, not shape, but that makes no sense) Still everybody else pays For someone else's mistake
Eroding away We're pulling apart In all of this dark matter I once heard it said And it stuck in my head Arrested the press No one knows what happened next
Renounce the demagogues (sounds the same as the first time) Came down to destroy (this one sounds a bit more like king diamond, but I just can't accept that, lol) Deplore the dialogue Your word against the law It's strange these days When everybody else pays For someone else's mistake Display takes shakes Still everybody else pays For someone else's mistake

Maybe Ed was influenced watching a lot of Shakes the Clown
It's strange these days when Ed's vocals are the weak link in a song (kind of been that way for awhile imo). Listened to the instrumental today and damn it is good! I just don't get why he can't sing so it's understandable what he's saying. Mumbles along. I expect the song to kick ass live though and looking forward to it (hopefully put MYM and Superblood to rest for awhile, I'm good on those songs lol).

Funny-- I think this is one of his better vocal performances.
I still think the lyrics in the original post, from Apple Music, are correct. Some of those lines came from the listening party, and the Apple Music version matched them. They also synched up with the isolated vocals that were posted (and have since been taken down).
It would be nice if Ed would just sing clearly and then we wouldn’t have a ton of guessing on his lyrics. But who am I kidding? I’ve had to follow along with the cd booklet since 7th grade.

(1st Pre-Chorus)
Denounce the demagogues
Deny to discard
Deplore the dialogue
Your word against the law
(Chorus)
Estranged these days
When everybody else pays
For someone else's mistakes
Display distaste
Everybody else pays
For someone else's mistakes
The way Eddie sings "Estranged" and "Display" seems on brand for how he likes to stretch his syllables
