It’s been normalized and after all, both sides are the same so it gets a pass. Nothing to see here, BFD.

Too late guys. From Letter From An American:

Yesterday former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers told George Stephanopoulos of This Week on ABC News: “This is the stuff of democracies giving way to authoritarianism…. [F]iring statisticians goes with threatening the heads of newspapers. It goes with launching assaults on universities. It goes with launching assaults on law firms that defend clients that the elected boss finds uncongenial. This is really scary stuff." In The Bulwark, Bill Kristol called out the open assault “on the truth, on the rule of law, on a free society” as “part of the broader pattern of the transformation of government information into pure propaganda.

Not important. We got Epstein to deal with. Before that, discrimination against Colbert by paramount. Before that, South Park.

    Oh. Wait.

Heres a good level headed read on this job numbers stuff.

    https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5435550-trump-fires-labor-statistician/amp/

McEntarfer was confirmed by the Senate by a richly bipartisan vote of 86-8 to a four-year term that began in 2024. But there’s no doubt that Trump was within his powers to fire her. All of the other counters of beans at the bureau are civil servants, but not the bean-counter in chief, who has always been a political appointee — which McEntarfer became only after more than 20 years in various statistical gigs as a federal worker bee.

Until Friday, she managed the bureau and her name was on the reports, but the numbers are churned out by a hive of statisticians and researchers working in the old Post Office building next to Washington’s Union Station. The deputy commissioner, civil servant William Wiatrowski, will again serve as acting commissioner, as he has twice before during vacancies.

Hey, but in all seriousness, how’s our resident legal scholar doing? You know, the one who was going to school me and yet couldn’t cite the law regarding ICE having much more carte blanch? Remember that one? I hear they’ve moved on to gun control or something about Japan and some crime stats and stuff. But somehow they think they’re safe, something about white male privilege. Anyway, interesting times.

”Remember when the law used to matter?”

Doing just fine. Its vacation season. Enjoying some time off from all the bullshit. Including your white noise. No visa? No bueno with the current administration. You cannot just step on the ground and expect to be welcomed, housed, paid, provided a lawyer, and fed. Not happening with our current President. You can hate it, but that is the current state of affairs. Objectively. What law do you want me cite? The reasonable force laws, the traffic stop laws? Gimme a break. Like I said, the current administration is aggressively enforcing the rules. I am neither in favor nor against it. You come here without a visa and you might be detained, imprisoned or kicked out. Enter at your own risk. And if you are already here, the same is true. Legally, it does not matter that you have been here 10 years. That is the advice I would give to any client thinking of coming, or being here, without a visa or green card. Be here illegally and bad stuff can happen under the current administration.

Telling. Why not a “bespolenzo?” I think I know why but you do you.

PS: you still don’t know where ICE gets its legal authority from and what it allows ICE to enforce.

Keep making up words. The ICE authority comes from a number of statutes and regulations. Is there a written law that allows a police officer to pull a weapon and follow procedures to protect themselves? There is not. There is law and there is real life. They do not always meet. But keep believing that written law will protect you. It will not. Maybe 2 years later.

I get it. You don’t want to follow the law. You’re okay with gray areas for law enforcement and for those things you think should be enforced and a black and white application of the law for certain other things and people. Telling indeed. What ever happened to “equal justice under the law” and “due process,” counsellor?

You still can’t cite ICE’s legal authority. You claimed you were going to school me. I’m still waiting.

Obfuscating as usual. Never said its ok, but it is reality. There are always gray areas in the law. Always. To think otherwise is to not understand the law and legal process. Do I really need to cite the immigration laws to you? No visa no right to be here. You get your equal protection rights and your due process. But it may not be from a Holiday Inn with room service. And there might be a bottleneck so it might not be as nice as you want it. If you have any sign of a criminal record, you may get treated like a criminal. But it's fine, wait it out and you will get preferred housing, food stamps and welfare. Much more that you would make in a third world country without having to actually work.

Edit: here you go for starters and that is the fourth grade version https://www.ice.gov/immigration-detainers

Learn about immigration and criminal procedure before you throw me under the bus.

Back up your shit when requested and you might earn some respect. Typical lawyer. Whooooo, I guess I have to go to law school and learn about criminal procedure and immigration before I can understand the law or even know when someone who is trained in the law doesn’t know what their spouting.

Sorry, but my education ended in the 3rd grade.

So, counseller, is it legal for ICE agents to detain and hold US citizens without any due process?

I wait with patience for your obfuscation. It’s a yes or no question.
