Let's not judge each other for how much money we spend and instead go back to talking about potential headliners and maybe tips & hacks for Ohana virgins!
No one is judging... geez... someone asking a question. If one is going to post their spending then it's open to discussion... ok,mom?
Tips? Eat before you go in... Stacks or Vibe or Carlos' Mexican
Yeah, having never gone to a festival* I'm just trying to understand if I'm way off on my assumptions, so that I don't budget $3k and end up with several thousand dollars of surprises!

*I guess I actually have. I attended Oldiesfest 1999, which was a single day, nearby, so no travel costs, and it was probably $10 for admission, and food was $2. Or something. But it was easily affordable on a teenager budget. And I met Davy Jones 🤷🏻‍♀️
(Edit: I found that tickets were indeed $10, which was about 2 hours of fast food wages at the time 🤣. https://www.deseret.com/1999/6/11/19450117/oldies-concert-is-saturday/  )

Four of us are traveling from east coast (two from CT one from NY and one from D.C.) We are all in our fifties so value convenience and comfort over savings. $600 each for airfare as we’d rather fly into John Wayne versus LAX with the least amount of connections and layover time. So $2400 for flights (saved some here with Delta points but would have been $2400 w/o). Air bnb full condo on beach in San Clemente versus two hotel rooms. $1800 but we all have own room and have roof deck with fire pit and beach views versus splitting a room with another dude. Not doing VIP as we would prefer GA so saving some here. Guessing $2400 for four 3 day passes. Car rental probably another $500. So before food, parking and lots of beer we are looking at $7100 between four?  Probably be close to 10k when done for four of us. 10k a person you are living like a king.
That all makes sense. AirBnb makes great sense for a group larger than 2.

I'm coming from a lot closer, so my airfare is half that. John Wayne airport is probably 3x of LAX for me too. I could get $85-$100 round trip to LAX (if I didn't want to bring any bags, of course).

People on a budget with flights who are renting a car should look at SAN. It's less than an hour drive north depending on time of course. But you can sit in traffic from LAX for a hour and barely move sometimes.
SNA is not usually a bargain

So is there any rumor at this point for PJ at Ohana?  or is everything speculation? I had heard last month it was on the table but that branch has gone dark.

Agree of the food tip. Eat something big and heavy beforehand, like from that pizza place north of the venue. Smuggle in cliff bars, luna bars etc. to eat while you can’t leave your spot in ga at 9:00

That is what I did in 2021. Flights to San Diego from St Louis were cheaper than Orange County and I rented a hybrid car, so the gas usage was minimal. Plus you get to enjoy the views of the Pacific as you drive up to Dana Point.

I’m gonna throw something crazy out here. Imagine we get a 20th Anniversary line-up of Hawaii 2006. PJ, U2 and Green Day. While highly unlikely, U2’s new album is slated to release this summer, and if they do a repeat of 2018, they did 10-12 stops for that album, or even call this a one-off 50th Anniversary show. Green Day currently has nothing planned from my understanding. This is all just a big what if though. But 1 would kill for a EV solo, U2, and PJ headlining list.

i am aware U2’s next tour is slated for 2027 though, with Europe being the first leg and NA not being til late 2027, early 2028.

    The Strokes.

Then, IDLES, maybe Foo Fighters, QOTSA Angine de Poitrine, Flea and Billie Eilish, and, of course, Ed Vedder w/ Earthlings.

Green Day played last year, not that it would necessarily rule them out, just makes it less likely.

I’m hoping this whole tenth anniversary has new bands, but also at least one returnee from years past. With the Beck, Strokes, Pixies rumors, sounds like I’m on to something. Also—since Brian Fallon has been on the lineup a couple times (but not actually played), maybe third time’s the charm!
