Maybe I’m naive; or old; or both. But it’s so hard for me to make sense of this band being ok with things like ‘premium seating.’ It just seems to contrary to what they have expressed being about all these years.
It's just the reality of doing business these days. They need to cede this one point to get more seating at reasonable prices for the fan club.
It always trips me out to see so many of you who have been completely gaslighted by this.
I will admit, it was easier for me to buy into before we saw some of the seats being sold blind to Ten Club. "We're selling premium seats to get YOU more tickets...but those tickets are ones you would have never bought on your own."
I'll play devil's advocate for the sake of the conversation... I don't recall seeing too many people who put in for St Paul get rejected.
Could accepting the premium ticket sales have been a tradeoff to getting more tickets allocated to the fan club?
I genuinely don't know, just spit balling here.
Good point. The other thread poll showed that 90% got tix? Small sample of course, but that seems pretty good. I certainly saw a lot less "gutted" and "shut out" posts vs years past.
Won't let me join Waiting Room. This is going bad :(
Do you have a verified code? If not, don't try to join, you're only making it harder on those who do have a code. This is how the Taylor Swift situation got out of hand.
We can't see it now, but all the shows were listed as:
Fan-Verified Presale
or
PJ Premium
No mention of needing Fan-Verified for Premiums/Platinums, and no mention of the Premiums being a "presale"; never seen that before
Yea, the faq for this tour kinda makes it sound like this VF sale is the public sale, not a presale.
"Public tickets will be available through Ticketmaster Verified Fan Registration. Verified Fan ticket registration is open now through Tuesday, April 25 at 5 pm PT." .. "The Verified Fan Onsale will begin on Friday, April 28 at 10 a.m. local venue time."
This is just rude. I am a verified fan since 1993! LOL. WTF. No, I don't "GOT IT"
GRRRRRR
Hoping you're kidding lol

well, its either this or the band finds a field somewhere in each state to play. TM owns the whole industry. If PJ wants to play, they have to at least somewhat play by their rules. TM doesn't give 2 shits if PJ tours or not. They have plenty other bands that will play ball. You can thank your local congressman that doesn't give a shit about monopolies. The TM monopoly is just one of many that they completely ignore at the expense of regular people.
There is other options. Look at what Zach Bryan is doing. He completely removed Ticketmaster from the process and is playing large venues. If you want to remove Ticketmaster, it can be done.
Interesting. I'd be curious if the non ticketmaster venues are any better. Any large promoter is going to get their cut. Live nation has control over a lot of them in most cities so i'm curious where he is playing. Good on him though.
Looking at his tour I recognize at least one venue, he is playing the BOK Center in Tulsa, which PJ played back in 2014. It must not be exclusive to TM.

It's a fan-verified presale for all tickets right now, which includes premium. Doesn't matter what the individual tickets are being listed as, you need to be a verified fan to get into the presale.

I like your approach to breaking it down but 30% at $0? That can’t be right. No way it’s more than 1-2%.

Got through the verified fan sale for Austin Night 2 and the tickets were rubbish. Chose not to buy anything. Only tickets were behind the stage/side stage and a handful in section 3 or upper levels. I can buy behind the stage for less than face from a scalper day of the show (did so last year). Anyone else have better luck? I was logged in 10 minutes before hand and was number 1020 in queue. Hoping the Ten Club fixes the ticket situation with seniority as I received an email from them last night stating they were doing so!

Part of the challenge is that Live Nation controls a lot of the venues, not just the ticketing.

It was like this last tour. This is a presale, they won't be restricted when the general on sale happens.
This isn't a presale, sadly. This is the general sale, per the band's twitter "General public tickets will be sold through Ticketmaster Verified Fan, which requires advance registration in order to participate. Registration begins now and closes on April 25 at 5pm PT."

Take it all with a grain of salt. I'm not in the business and am making assumptions. But there are a lot of ticket alottments for every show. It has to be more than 1-2%. I could see it being as low as maybe 10% but it adds up quick.

adjust accordingly, but keep in mind I'm not accounting for the cost of venue, promoter fee, manager fee, road crew, lights + sound, hotels, food, hospitality, security, transportation, TM fees etc
I have no idea how much is actually cleared after costs.

they've got wives and kids now and are getting older.
Won’t someone think of the millionaires.
Don't they deserve to be millionaires?
Of course they do, it's just when you talk about needing to take care of their families. Their families are fine, they'll be fine if they retire now and never play another show. I mean, unless they squandered all their money, in which case they aren't millionaires.
Very true. They'll probably make more money playing these 9 shows than I will in my entire lifetime.

I got in the Chicago 2 VF sale right away, and have been in there this whole time, the premium tickets just disappear/sell and then more pop up -over and over, new sections, rows, etc, it's such a racket. Only decent face tickets were singles that were side stage and some nose bleed uppers in the back corners. There are plenty of upper level behind the stage tickets, but that's it.
