Came here for the ticket updates now come here for food reviews/pics!!! We will all be eating like kings in the GA lineup!!
Not if you're in Texas.
While the Moody Center is across the freeway from Franklin's, I don't think anyone's going to let you jump out of the GA lineup to stand in the BBQ line for 3 hours.
... maybe you'll get lucky and the two lines will just merge... though I don't think the commuters on I35 will allow that..
Three hours is absolutely insane. While I hear it is great BBQ... there has to be some good spots with no wait like that.
Three would be a slow day but if you treat it like a tailgate it's actually fun. Bring coffee, chairs, breakfast tacos, mimosas or bloody's. But yes, there are plenty of great options nearby.
Visited Austin twice and both times I got to Franklin and was told I’d be lucky to get even side items (yes, I was gutted) I drove around the corner and there was a big food truck lot that had amazing food trucks. Can’t remember the name, though but I’m pretty sure it was the same one the owner of Franklin took Jon Favreau to in Favreau’s cooking show on Netflix.
They sample so much BBQ their entire staff must have congestive heart failure. And they are on point. Recommendations and ratings are about the best I have come across.
That’s 2021 though. Rumors I’ve heard are that the HEB in store bbq places have made the list this year?! Def gotta try it, no line bbq is my thing, although I live right near Valentina’s and they do a pretty good job
Hey! I live near Valentina's too! - True BBQ (HEB) - is very passable, I find it best when you want some que with no line, or if you want some on a Mon or Tues when everyone else is closed!
Have you ever been to Buc-ee’s? That’s legit!
Was there last night in fact! lol - I love their Philly Cheesesteak Burritos!
Got St Paul Sept 2nd GA, haven't heard about 31st yet.

Nothing from Chicago in my inbox yet, I'm really nervous since I'd also have to buy plane tickets and make a hotel reservation...oh yeah, and ask for permission at work 😛

I'm going to sound like that sort of snob but I lived down there for the better part of the last 20 years. I used to eat Franklin when it was a little food truck. Yes, it's is incredible BBQ, would I wait in line all morning for it? Unless the weather was perfect, I had good friends to do so with, and nothing more worthy of my time, absolutely not.
Would highly recommend Stiles Switch BBQ to anyone going to Austin for these shows. It was good enough for Dave Grohl while he was in town doing Sonic Highways and fun fact, the building is in the same complex where the Emporium was in Dazed in Confused! I used to go there all the time, the wait was never more than 10-15 min tops and the BBQ was always on point. Is Franklin better, I honestly don't know. At a certain point, great BBQ is great BBQ, but I absolutely wouldn't wait in line at Franklin when places like Stiles are also an option.
For the record:
I have never actually eaten at Franklin's, because I will not stand in a line that long.
Once upon a time, 10 years ago, I waited in line 3 hours at Killen's, back when it like No. 3 or 4 on the list, I will never do it again. The thought is absurd to me. There is no reason you have to stand in a line like that other than the owner of the establishment wants to have a line outside to build hype.
Pinkertons and gatlins let me order in advance, hot and ready for pick up. And if you order the last serving of the day, you typically get wayyyyyyy more meat than you pay for... more protips
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.
