Donald Trump's lawyer Todd Blanche told CNN's Kaitlan Collins on Thursday that the former president wanted to testify, but he relied on counsel and ultimately did not take stand.
"He wanted to get his story out. I think the judge had made some decisions before the trial, the day the trial started, about what would be allowed to be asked of him by the prosecutors if he took the stand and some of those questions were really complicated to answer because they're still appeals going on," Blanche said, adding "ultimately it's his decision and he listened to us and relied on our counsel, and he reached the decision that he thought was right, which I very much agreed with."

Agreed. This is FAR from the worst thing Trump has done right out in the open. It won't turn a single Maga voter. All it will do is make them more rabid. That said, it will possibly keep some weirdos who I suppose we call those in the middle from voting for him. I certainly don't think this conviction suggests he doesn't have a chance of winning the election though, and that is so fucked up I don't even feel like I can talk about it.

Trump Media stock falls after Donald Trump convicted in criminal hush money trial
Shares of Trump Media & Technology Group fell as much as 15% as investors took stock of Donald Trump’s guilty verdict on all 34 felony counts in his criminal hush money trial.
The after-hours slide was the latest turbulent turn for Trump’s namesake social media company, which rises and falls with the former president’s fortunes. Trump owns 65% of the shares in the parent company of the Truth Social app.
The stock, which trades under the ticker “DJT,” recovered as trading continued, but remained down about 4% in the early evening Thursday.
Volatility has been the stock’s governing principle since it began trading after the merger with shell company Digital World Acquisition Corp. in March. It has swung wildly from a high of $79.38 a share at the close of March 26 to its lowest close of $22.84 on April 16.
Trump Media’s market cap of more than $9 billion rests almost entirely on the Trump brand and his loyal following, including small-time investors who’ve shown their support for him by propping up the stock.
Trump Media reported a first-quarter net loss of $327.6 million on less than $1 million in revenue.
A New York jury convicted Trump offalsifying documents ahead of the 2016 presidential election to cover up a payment he made to porn star Stormy Daniels.
Trump is scheduled to be sentenced on July 11, right before the Republican National Convention where he’s expected to be formally nominated for president.

Saw some of his supporters set up on a bridge over the highway waving their flags on the way into work this morning*... not all that different from other similar shows of support I've seen for him over the last 8 years, but it does reinforce just how much of a cult it really is... their guy getting convicted of 34 felonies yesterday will only further galvanize those who support *checks notes* the party of law and order.
