anyone use the collx app? I saw an ad for it and wondered if it was worth downloading.
Yes. I just downloaded it a few weeks ago. I’ve only done a few cards but it is an amazing app. I don’t want to commit to being a big fan quite yet but I would recommend it. It messed up a few card matches or couldn’t identify but like I said I’ve only spent limited time using it. You’ll enjoy it I’m sure.
It doesn't get everything so if you do use it, double check.  They have been known to be wrong sometimes.
Guess it couldn't hurt to download it. i think it's free.

I was told hanger packs will yield better cards than some of the boxes they offer. I popped on one yesterday and got this Ohtani Black Border Parallel.
    064/200
Only problem with the Black Border Parallel is that any imperfections on the corners really stand out. Can see a spot of white on all 4 corners. Nice card though. Probably best card I’ve gotten out of all the ‘23 Topps Series One I’ve bought, and I’ve bought a lot, lol.

Edit: I was mistaken,  this particular Parallel is 064 out of 299 not 200.

Jumbo is the only way to go on these or just buy your own cards.

I'm not touching a box of these this year.  I'll wait for chrome.

I buy the Black border Heritage variations and those can be pretty brutal too.  Just got a beautiful Kelenic rc black border.  I'll have that one graded.

EDIT:  If you look at pack odds, the damn hangers yield the same results as a whole Hobby box so might s well buy hangers.

Jumbos have the best odds.  Golden mirrors are like 1/46 for Jumbo and 1/1300 or something stupid for hangers and hobby.

^Exactly right. I’ve been on a little bit of a learning curve since delving back into the card game. I was popping on the smaller Blaster Box type offerings, and if I had known better, I would have just got Jumbo Box’s from the get. I was also, unfortunately, buying Parallel type boxes instead of Relic/Auto boxes. I prefer the Relic/Auto finds to a Parallel. Lesson learned.

‘23 Bowman coming out soon,  Ill probably pop on a Hobby Box, or Jumbo if they offer that.

Bowman is live today.  Boxes are dumb priced again.

Jumbo is the way to go for those too but at $600 a box...

Also there is a $1,000,000 bounty out on the Druw Jones Superfractor so there is some buzz in the industry about this.

Aesthetically/nostalgia speaking, Im a fan of 1980-1987, excluding 1982.  The 88s dont really do it for me.  Ive said it before in this thread, but my favorite looking set of all time is the 1985 Fleer.

Love all the 80s designs, even the ugly ones like 88 Donruss. 86 Topps is my probably my favorite. Always loved the jumbos!

    88 Donruss? Dear god...lol.

Some are good and some were really bad.  86 was a great set.

    84 and 85 donruss I'm a big fan of.

Favorite set you collected as a kid?  What is it?

    85 Donruss

As an adult I love 1996 Stadium Club.  I have all the Jeter variations.  There are 7 BTW.

as a kid? Probably either the '80 Topps  or '84 Topps. The Donruss designs weren't really that good early on (first ten years), IMO. I liked Fleer better than Donruss.

I like this 3 year run of Fleer.  I wish Topps/Fanatics could acquire Fleer so they can create insert cards.

    1984 Fleer

    1985 Fleer

    1986 Fleer

woah, never saw that Hubbard card. Pretty interesting, cool it was taken at The Vet. Didn't care for the '84 Fleer set either. I did like the '85 and '86 sets though (they looked pretty similar).

Laughed when I saw that ‘85 Donruss Mattingly posted above because I had just bought this at the antique mall yesterday. I also thought the write up on the back was interesting, something I didn’t know, especially with 1-2 same team batting title connections with the Tigers. The shot of Mattingly is kind of funny.

    ^Nice

My first Living Set pieces. I’ll probably focus on legends from the past and mainly Detroit Tiger players when buying/considering current players. I did get the Ohtani because I thought it was pretty sharp and it’s a RC at a reasonable price.ni

I was fortunate enough to snag one of those Ohtani’s in a PSA 9 for $12 before he blew up..
