Devastated. Oh how I wished… I anticipated this one so much as it falls on my birthday. Doubt the stars will align for me like that again. Would have been a perfect ending of my little PJ tour. Instead 2 cancelled shows. Vienna hurt but this one feels like a punch when you loose air.

Wish Eddie all the best and fellow Jammers that Amsterdam happens.

Would love to get a poster so my birthday is on a poster. Is that possible? Please…
The worst enemies of music? Money and Mathematics. Combined with music, they both do the exact opposite of what they're supposed to do. Money makes music cheap, mathematics makes it stupid and predictable.

Feel terrible for you. I hope things work out.
As for the poster, the cancelled shows posters are bundled in the merchandise shop, so I am guessing the same will happen for these cancelled gigs.
And Happy Birthday! Go out and have a great time.

This guy’s a doctor and a touring musician AND he’s been doing it at least since the 70s.

    Ed should be taking notes.

  • Wife and I flew in from Nashville for Vienna and Prague shows; were super excited about seeing Pearl Jam overseas and certainly sad about both cancellations. Still, we are so grateful that Pearl Jam gave us the motivation to come see Vienna, Prague and Budapest (ironically at one point we had tickets to Krakow and Budapest! but had to change dates/timing). These cities are wonderful. Sorry to all about the disappointment -- soak in this cool city and see you at the next show when Ed's voice is better.

While the vast majority of this community shows empathy towards others, be it for fans, band members or concert goers in general… there are always the minority voices out there that consider their opinions as facts that are universal, rather than singular.
That said, we only know what we know. And what we know is that we are living in strange times. We are living at a time when we are affected by a global pandemic as well as being beyond the tipping point that affects the global climate.
For me… personally, I feel bad for the fans who have anticipated a brief 2 hours to escape this reality.
In this case, it is the health of persons we love. We don’t personally know any of them, but we understand they are human, just as we are.
Why can’t we just wish them back to health and say, ‘Take care, dude. I’ll catch you next time around’.
I know it is tough when so much expense, time and effort went into the planning, but, it could be worse. It could be a world without this.
My take would be to just spend your time enjoying where you are, here and now. You have friends around you and maybe you are in a foreign land. Take advantage of that. You will probably run across folks that will become lifelong friends that you would have never met if these circumstances did not occur.
Lastly, for Eddie. Take care dude. You know, we ain’t growing any younger and our old ass bodies ain’t what they used to be. Listen to your doctors. If they tell you that you need to shut the fuck up for a while, then shut the fuck up for a while. We’ll catch you down the road.
Very tough to say we will catch you next time when you fly from Texas to Europe and you go 0/2 on shows.  Easy to say if you haven’t been planning this trip for over a year not counting all the money spent.  I just wanted to see my favorite band in my favorite European city, just extremely disappointed right now.

While admittedly the smoking certainly didn’t help, the dirty air from the wildfires didn’t do his voice any favors and affects your throat more than some people seem to realize. My daughter lives in Colorado and we visited them a few years ago when they were having really bad fires out there. My throat hurt like crazy for a week after that, and was still scratchy for a while after that. I am a runner and my throat was so sore that I had to stop running for a while until it started to feel better.

Did cross my mind that Paris should have been the cancelled show.
Probably paid too much to cancel that one.
Just like adding a festival in Louisville which, now makes my St.Louis show the 3rd in 3 days(when was the last time they played 3 shows in 3 days???) Was it for a big festival pay day?🤔 There was absolutely no resson to add Louisville!
The funny thing is we will be in STL for The National that Saturday night and I purposely had us flying back Monday in case we scored Pearl Jam tickets.  I’m thinking we will probably be flying back on Sunday now.
Love the National and seen them many times❤️
Only seen them once but they are great!
It was Pearl Jam and Europe or The National and national parks in the north east.  I’m starting to think I picked poorly.

With the temperatures only getting higher in the future, should we expect less outdoor shows? (or less summer touring)

That sucks, I’m sorry..:. I hope you can still enjoy your birthday.

Keep an eye on the shop, the posters for these shows will almost certainly be sold there after the tour.

    Or strategic touring.

Here on Vancouver Island, we do get smoke sometimes, but most of the time our weather blows from west to east of the pacific, so if there's forest fires it usually pushes smoke to the interior of BC and into Alberta.  Only those odd times where the wind stops, do we get too smoky here.

They could do June tour here, they'd be fine.   Annual June tour of Vancouver Island.  It'd be epic.  Tour Destination event :)

I guess I'm missing something because I don't understand when people say physical toll when describing a band that tours. They fly into a city via private jet, stay in a luxury hotel, eat well, sleep in if they choose to, go to sound check, work/play music for a couple of hours and repeat, how's is that physically grueling? If you're talking about the roadies then I get it but as for the actual musicians they're working less than the average person is per day, it's not they're working a 8-10 hr shift, I'm definitely missing something

I don’t get the grumbling on short(er) sets… they are taking support out. Like when MMJ toured as support or X did too. Been spoiled with no support on the last few outings but giving a shot to other bands is fine with me.

I said hi to one of the brothers from White Reaper at the train station in Prague approx. 1 hour before the announcement was made. I asked him was it going again, and he said "We'll see what happens." I felt like a dick, because I'm sure I was probably the 500th person to ask him today.

I'm so sorry for everyone - I would be devastated if I were over there for this. I hope Ed is OK and makes a quick recovery.

The only consolation maybe is that Prague is one of the most beautiful cities on the planet, and some of the most delicious and cheap beer on the planet...

Again, would you rather be a middle school teacher or in a world famous Rock band? Agree to disagree, you do you
