The 30+ song set lists done for good?

I agree. Same here with excitement about two September shows but not am also in the camp of having trouble understanding people that want less songs. With the staples plus Gigaton songs it doesn’t leave a lot of room for so many great songs from great PJ albums. Just look at the stats someone posted earlier only 5 total songs from LB, Backspacer, Avocado, Riot Act and Binaural.

I don’t want less songs.  I’m just saying if given a choice between a 30 song set list that gets filled out with Backspacer songs, or into the wild songs or covers OR if they fill a set list with less songs but it’s a tighter set without Backspacer stuff or covers etc, I’m not sure the former 30 song set is really that much better.  It might feel more “epic,” but is it really?  There’s a meme for how I just asked that question lol

I've definitely landed on being glad they are still together, still alive, still playing and not wanting to squander these opportunities to see them. I wish the economics were different, I wish the locations were different, I wish the schedule were different, but I'm thankful for what we have.

yeah, they reunited in 2008 and play sporadically. Lead singer and guitarist put out a new record called Serlin Greaves Sad Songs For Sale recently.

go to supermarket, most aren’t raising prices…. Just repackaging …givin you less product

i didn’t feel less of anything going to the 1st 3 shows of the tour… they were truly excellent & maybe the best in over a decade for me

reading some comments, man lot of you are in fantasy land. Where AGE, wear n tear don’t exist. They are almost 60, covid has had an affect… maybe they are building it slowly or if this is IT… get over your selves & don’t miss the forest for the trees

I was at Spectrum 4, good show. 3 was better… and other less than 3 hour shows WAY better

But, there are entire albums and portions of the bands career that get sacrificed with the new show length (2000-2009).  Songs like Life Wasted, WWS, I Am Mine, even The Fixer.... I could go on.  There are going to be great songs that were usually commonly played that will sadly go by the wayside if the setlists stay around 22 songs.  

So to clarify for myself, its not the lack of specific rarities or white whales, but overall lack of diversity that will drive me to travel to less shows

That’s going to be inevitable as any band grows. With 11 albums they’re only average 2 songs per album. Now throw in the fact it’s a Gigaton tour so there’s more than that album, popular b-sides or soundtracks, there’s bound to be a some albums that aren’t represented at all. I wouldn’t be surprised if at Sacramento next week we hear nothing from NC or Binaural. Other than playing 3+ hour shows every night, which very few bands do, it can’t be helped.

I see people talking about a different concert experience than we've come to expect from PJ, but if anyone's actually bitching or complaining about it, I missed those comments. 


Most if not everyone here seems to accept they are getting older, and are grateful they're still together and touring.

Because it was probably the most on fire I’ve ever seen the band perform and the crowd was incredible.  It didn’t reach 3 hours.  Nobody in the building seemed to care that the Christmas single from 14 years ago wasn’t performed.   They were just locked in and everyone could tell.

That was a fantastic show. I mean, FANTASTIC. The energy between band and crowd was off the charts. Even my cousin who saw them for the first time that night couldn’t believe how great that show was.

You lost me at Johnny guitar. I think that is one of their worst songs ever. This just goes to show that they are in an impossible situation. Lol!

Not concerned about the loss of obscure tracks but the fact that they didn’t play Go, Last Exit, or Hail Hail during the first leg (yes, maybe they were saving them for Sac or Vegas) is a concern. Those tunes should be played every other night at the very least!

It’s probably time we took a vote on if we want the 30+ song shows to return.  Then we can let the band know the results so they can adjust the set lists for the rest of the tour. 

I don’t.

unless we get a 6:00pm start. It’s officially an aging fan base. You can beat the dinner rush at restaurants at like 4:30 so you can even eat first , and it may be light still when you drive home

I think it is a complex situation so I take the current ages and stamina physically of the band members into account.  I want less songs if it means the dudes who are in their late 50's and 60's are able to deliver the goods in the way they feel they are, in contrast to if they felt like the 30+ songs they did in the past, were a negative aspect on their stamina nowadays

I am all for them doing as many songs as they feel they can realistically do in the highest quality possible - that is a setlist that ends in the mid 20s like the last few shows, bring it IMHO
