Given that my number is 540xxx and I'm in the back of 105, I'm guessing a lot!

Whoever said they are only a business now and only care about the $$$ are obviously misinformed.  They chose some very risky cities in California and could have easily sold out 6 arena shows in Texas (Dallas, Houston, SA/Austin) and made a ton more $$$. Unless ACL is in the cards.

could the cities they chose be part of the carbon offset efforts?  i know theyve always made the effort, but do I remember seeing something about an expanded effort or something?  or am i making that up?

I think they just misjudged the California market post covid. All 5 arena shows were sold out in 2020. They probably thought the two new cities would be sellouts too.

Does it really reduce footprint.  While it reduces fuel consumption for the band/crew, in increases fuel consumption for all the fans travelling to go.. as fans don't have shows closer to them to attend?

Maybe it's a functional thing?  They choose a basecamp in california, and go to each city from the base camp so they have the same bed every night for the few weeks they're out there.

I was watching that show with Brian Johnson and they were talking about how challenging it is to tour, and how'd they do that in europe.  Set up a base camp in Paris or something, have their families stay there, then fly back after every show so they could sleep in the same bed and see their families kind of thing.

Musicians rarely talk about it, but it the travel aspect never seems easy for them.

I gotta admit, I haven't quite figured out the reasoning for the back-tracking. When I was gaming out the tour, I was factoring in what would be the most carbon neutral solution.
I'm good with starting in SD. A sort of homecoming/happenstance seeing as how the Earthlings tour ended there (and Ed was living there when he got the Mamasan tape out to Stone & Jeff in the first place.)
Then (if they were dead set on these cities), it would go LA I & II, Oakland I & II, SAC, Fresno, then Vegas THEN Phoenix/Glenville. That, or just say screw it & start in PHX, and end Leg 1 in Vegas, but
At least Leg 2 is aligned with that mode of thinking.

I mean, the local promoter in Sac could have offered a boatload of money and the band isn’t making any less.  But what do I know.

They are doing two shows east of the Mississippi. Gonna be tough to offset all those square miles.

The two new cities population is about 500k each and both in the valley far away from large metro markets. Considering the demand in Texas and back east, all of which have a total of two shows, the added Cali dates are very curious
