Nothing on the Fender site about it but it comes up on Eddie’s Guitars when you Google it. Something is a bit odd??
In my experience, this is the way it usually happens. Small allotments get out to small mom pop shops well before the big stores get theirs. Sometimes even getting out there before the press announcements on Fender’s site.
I have one on the way as well.

I was in CME yesterday & they were pretty sure it was going to happen, MX & American. Hop

  • That is cool.  I would feel better hanging that on the wall than the master built.  Cool if signed too.

My Sweetwater guy said he could neither confirm nor deny.  I spent a lot of money with him back in 2021 and 2022, but no purchases in 2023.  Hoping I still have some pull and get high on the list.

  • So now we have an official release date of September 12th!

For what it's worth...  the store I bought mine from told me that they had ordered two and that the first one came in Wednesday 9/6, but the second one is already on 12 month backorder. Stores are under embargo where they are not supposed to list them online until an agreed upon date... which I now assume is Sept 12th.

Playing around with the Fender serial # lookup, it looks like the earliest build dates on these were in June.
  • I would contact your favorite guitar store rep. Should be getting mine sent out next week.
  • It's here!!!

Just ordered mine from an indie shop said it'll ship out tomorrow.  Was hoping for an American-made version but this will do for now.

It seems like they put a lot of high-end appointments into these guitars so it does feel too bad that it's MIM. and not MIA.

Thanks for all the info above.
I ordered mine on Sweetwater.  My local store said a 12+ month wait (which reconciles with what someone else heard above).
Sweetwater is expecting their shipment early December but my rep said he expected the December allotment to all be spoken for by announcement day.

I'm not usually a fan of relics. However, STP2 was my daughter's first concert and she was in awe of Mike and his strat. I've been teaching her  to play for awhile and my wife and I thought this would be like a family heirloom that is displayed next to the posters and photos we took. She and I have both been taking turns playing it nonstop. As a bonus, if I gig with it, I don't have to worry about dinging it up!

  • Ordered one relisted on Reverb yesterday. Wonder how many are being made? There were just 60 MIA. Just didn’t want
to have to wait 6-9 months for next batch and pay the same price or over retail if they are hard to come by.

It's difficult to tell from the pics but did they apply a clear finish over the damage/relicing?

  • Hopefully I  get mine in a week or two and can compare the two different runs.  Interested to see if really, really overpaid for the MIA model.  I imagine the finishes are different and the aging isn't as meticulous.

It was an easy decision to pull the trigger and snag a MIM for $1899. The MIA are at least $20K on secondary market. Sure MIA is a better build from quality control, but 10X the price better? Hail hail the lucky ones who got the MIA, but my wife would kill me if I spent $20K on a guitar rather than needed home repairs. It was MIM or nothing at all.

Anymore, the guitars and basses coming from the plant in Mexico are really nice instruments. I assume this one, as well as the J Mascis Tele, get a little extra attention in the QC department.

I own five Fenders and four of them were MIM. No complaints about any of them. Resale value is worth noting, with the MIAs obviously being higher, but that doesn't matter too much to me.
