I love Mad Season, and I was truly grateful that Mark put the finishing touches on Locomotive and Black Book of Fear. Additions to album reissues often don't get much credit, but those were solid songs. RIP.
Would have loved a new Mad Season album with Mark on vocals.
absolutely. those 3 "Disinformation" songs are killer.

I forgot about Slip Away... thanks for reminding me.
  • Well written tribute:

I am grateful for the numerous times I was able to experience Mark Lanegan's voice and presence in concert. His catalogue will remain a treasured part of my daily life. I am still unable to wrap my mind around him not being here. A terrible loss. Irreplaceable voice has been silenced.

It was great that Ed paid tribute to Mark Lanegan. Watching the video of him talking about it reminded me that I have seen PJ twice on a day where someone significant in music had passed. In 1994 it was Kurt Cobain and in 2013 it was Lou Reed. Both times he made sure to honor them some way on stage.

A thoughtful human being, that much I feel is true.

  • Around Riot Act (I think?) there were stories about Lanegan being in studio with Ed and/or PJ. Always wondered if that bore fruit.

    Anyone else remember this?

I listened to Black Book of Fear and Slip Away on repeat a few months back when my mom passed away.  Such great songs and that voice was incredible.

Maybe Ed will cover him tonight in Seattle?
Whatever supernatural force is willing, it would help
    02. Here Comes The Sun-(Harrison)
    {Ed speaks passionately about the passing of Mark Lanegan}
    09.
    Fallout Today-(from the album Earthling)
{“This is for my friend, just a little of it”)
    10. In My Tree-(Ed plays about 1:30 of In My Tree. Starts off by himself on electric guitar.  Chad and others slowly come in but it never becomes a full blown version of the song)

Would dedicating Brother the Cloud to him make sense?
    Absolutely!

Watched it again last night... it's pretty hard not to tear up watching the montage of everyone singing Strange Religion.

The kiss and look to the camera for Layne after the last vocal line (at around 2:50) kill me every time. It's even harder to watch now.

I've been listening to the Live at Leeds Brudenell Social Club 24/04/10 album pretty much non stop this week. It's just Mark with the late Dave Rosser on guitar. It's a beautiful, haunting set

It was hard enough when it was a tribute to Layne, I’ve burst into tears every time I’ve watched it this week.
