Stands in solidaratity with Neil Young and the science community.
So Joni and Neil.
Silence from Pearl Jam and other artists so far. Hopefully some younger other follow suit before this dies out. Or David Crosby. A young happening artist or David.

I'm hoping it's due to them being five people having to get on a zoom call and agree on it to make it happen that it hasn't happened yet, and not because of @dankind depressing perspective he sometimes throws out.
But who knows in the era of Funko pops.
Don't know how verified it is.
David just want to be Neils friend again. Cute.
Something regarding "thread integrity derailed". Don't know what that means. Delete the posts that are derailing the thread integrity would be my cause of action.
But maybe a Joni Mitchell thread would not lead to the same derailing by whoever derailed.
As for Springsteen, Dylan, and others… I’m guessing when they sold their rights to their catalogs, they may have lost their ability to make such a call. Neil mentioned on the NYA (I believe) that his deal still allowed him a say on how his material is used.
Its funny that Napster changed the world, but stole from artists, and now they compensate artists the most.
Every artst should have a bandcamp page.

I don't do much digital music except to sample it or play CDs in the car, but from what I know of Bandcamp, they're a fine outfit that supports artists. That would probably be my go-to if I were into digital formats.

Tidal was to be artist centric - but seems to be beaten by Napster and still seems to not give enough per stream for artists.
Is the overhead of running the service such that is isn't feasible for artists to make old-fashioned CD-selling money off it. Or what is stopping them?
I'd like to see a service where I can in a nice little piechart everymonth see where my money went. If let's say the service take 30% of the $10 I pay per month. Then for the rest, I would like to see what percentage of my $7 goes to Pearl Jam, Joni Mitchell, Taylor Swift and so on. And if I only listened to Pearl Jam bootlegs for a month my $7 should go in full to them.
So, you seem to be the funny one here. Not understanding why he is leaving Spotify.
Easy to be ignorant.
