I
want to give a big shout out for the amazing painter and former drummer
for The Replacements, Chris Mars, for offering these T-Shirts featuring
his work, the money from which goes to support Ukraine. Kudos, Chris!
I jumped at this opportunity myself and very much appreciate Chris and
his support for the people of Ukraine. I'm not sure if there are any
left, but you might find one if you check out Chris' FB page.

if i were zelensky i would let mcconnell and the rest of those assholes fly all the way over to a war zone in ukraine and the refuse to meet with them. they are holding up aid, why would i want to meet with them? especially if i have a war to run.
it is just going to be gop photo op used in campaigns this election cycle.
mitch will probably come back and offer his assessment that "ukraine is doing quite well on it's own. rand paul was right to hold up approving aid because they do not need it."

It's Rand Paul, not Mitch. He has been a steadfast supporter of Ukraine. I have no issues with how 80% of the GOP has handled Ukraine.

“This should have already been over and done with, but it is repugnant that one member of the other side … chose to make a show and obstruct Ukraine funding knowing full well he couldn’t actually stop its passage,” Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) said Wednesday. “For Senator Paul to delay Ukraine funding for purely political motives is to only strengthen Putin’s hand.”
Paul on Tuesday defended his objection, calling U.S. support for Ukraine “a noble cause, no doubt — a cause for which I have great sympathy and support — but a cause for which the Constitution does not sanction or approve of.”
“Yes, our national security is threatened — not by Russia’s war on Ukraine, but by Congress’s war on the American taxpayer,” he said. “The vast majority of Americans sympathize with Ukraine and want them to repel the Russian invaders. But if Congress were honest, they would take the money from elsewhere in the budget or ask Americans to pay higher taxes or, heaven forbid, loan the money to Ukraine instead of giving it to Ukraine. But Congress will do what Congress does best: spend other people’s money.”

It's a fundamentally dishonest argument. Where in the Constitution does it prohibit support of allies? That would be a strange stance for the Founders considering we only won independence thanks to the French.

America doesn't have $40 billion to give to anyone. We have to borrow that money which means the cost is going to be way higher with interest. We don't even have baby formula to feed our own children. Why are we sending money to a hopeless situation in Ukraine?
Why aren't other countries sending as much money to Ukraine? Ukraine is going to fall. Russia will not stop and we are only increasing our debt, increasing our inflation and making America weaker.
What do we get for sending all this money to Ukraine? Not a damn thing.

Okay Tucker. Let's address all these simpleton points.
1. We borrow money for everything. We run a debt and a deficit so it's all cute for you to get worried about that right now after Bush turned the Clinton surplus into a massive deficit and Trump ran up a deficit of 5.2% of GDP. This is after he promised the tax cuts would drive the GDP over 5%. But wait! They never even touched 3% annualized in his presidency. So spare me that argument.
2. Baby formula.. You think the reason there is a baby formula shortage is because the gov't can't afford it? I'm sorry, are you arguing that the welfare state should be increased to feed babies in this country? I just want to know if you're on record to increase medicaid and SNAP. Do I have that right too?
3. Why is the situation hopeless? Where precisely are you getting this information? Putin came nowhere near taking Kiev and has reduced his aspirations to purely Donbas and other far East oblasts. And he can't even take those. So I'd really like to know, General, where you are concluding that Ukraine cannot win this war?
4. Russia will not stop.. Okay so you're now arguing that not only should we let Ukraine fall, but should we let them take Poland, Moldova, Finland, anywhere else? You want to recreate the Eastern Block, run by a madman, because you are suddenly all worried about the deficit. Tell me more about your deficit and debt concerns. How has that affected you, GDP or anything else over the last 20 years.
Try to tune out Tucker and start thinking about American strategic interests for a change. It's in our interests to have western countries dominate politically, economically and militarily. I especially love the stupid fucking argument that Germany and other NATO countries aren't investing 2% in their military. GOOD. I'm glad they don't. I love that we have the biggest military. Why would we want other countries to close the gap? Makes no fucking strategic sense.
I always wonder if these right wingers consider themselves more of Charles Lindberg pro-fascists, or Neville Chamberlain appeasers? At least Neville was trying I suppose, pathetic as it was.
Was it $1.6 T or $1.7T of a tax cut whereas 65% + went to the top 1% and we were told it would be paid for with 4% growth in GDP quarter over quarter for TEN fucking years? Buh, buh, buh we don't have $40B, half of which goes to Ukraine and the other half to the rest of the world to feed people because of Russia's blockading of ports and the inability of grain to be exported. Most of which goes to feed people in the ME and Africa. What are we getting?
Pay me now or pay me later but good fucking lord are people this misinformed or living in an alternate reality? Or are they totally fine with the repub vision of a kleptocracy for 'Murica?

1. We borrow money for everything so why not borrow more? That is not an argument anyone should be making. Trump, Trump, Trump... Fuckin' whatever. Fuck Trump, the Republicans and the Democrats.
2. Is our government spending $40 billion to figure out the baby formula crisis? No. They are more concerned about Ukraine than babies suffering in our own country. We borrow money for everything, why not borrow more?
3. Only time will tell but what I do know is that Putin isn't going to walk away unless he has been defeated. He has the world by the balls right now, if you haven't noticed. He isn't going to give that up unless he gets what he wants.
4. Why is America having to pay for Ukraine and why aren't other countries willing to give this much money??!?! I've always been concerned about the deficit so spare me your bullshit. I don't know if you've noticed but we are seeing inflation at a 40 year high. It's affecting everyone so why not borrow $40 billion dollars and send it to 1 country.
A few weeks ago Democrats were crying about how instead of Elon Musk spending $40 billion to buy Twitter that he should spend $40 billion and use that money to end world hunger. Now we are sending that amount to 1 country with ZERO accountability. Oh by the way, we don't have $40 billion to give so we are borrowing that money which means we will be paying interest on that money.

1. I guess you missed the part where I criticized Bush and Trump, the last two R presidents for their outrageous spending. And the point is that if your argument is that deficit spending is bad, might as well shut down the gov't. It's the only spending we do.
2. I didn't realize you didn't know why we have shortage of baby formula. I guess you should look up Abbot. And then the Defense Production Act. Last time I checked, we didn't have to choose between arming Ukraine and making baby formula. Is this some Hobbesian choice you constructed in your head? Pretty sure we can do both.
3. That's right, Putin won't walk away unless defeated, yet here you are advocating for us to walk away so he wins. Square that please.
4. Love the classic "it's not fair argument". In case you didn't notice, we have the largest GDP in the world. California has a bigger economy than France. So it's pretty easy to understand how we would give the most.
I don't know what Democrats said Musk should end world hunger, but I don't care. It has nothing to do with this. You can go over to the stocks page and join an argument about Elon Musk. You're right, we don't have $40 billion in extra. We don't have $1 in extra. But this is in our strategic interests. If you cannot comprehend or don't understand how checking Russian aggression is in our interest, well then no one is going to convince you of the righteousness of Ukraine's fight. You might want to go back to 1938 Munich and start reading history from there.
Seeing how formula was one aspect of not granting aid to Ukraine, you can thank POOTWH. So much winning!
As part of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), negotiated by President Donald Trump to replace the North America Free Trade Agreement in July 2020, Canada agreed to impose an additional surcharge of $3/kg if the total volume of its global formula exports—not just exports to the U.S.—broke a certain threshold. That threshold is currently set at 40,480 metric tons for the current “dairy year” of August 1 2021 to July 31 2022.
The new duties seemingly closed off Canada as a source of infant formula. The U.S. imported a grand total of zero tons of baby formula from its nothern neighbor in 2021, yet has shipped tons of domestic formula into Canada. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S.-manufactured infant formula made up the largest component of U.S. dairy exports to Canada in 2021, accounting for 22% of all northbound dairy trade.

BONN — World financial leaders in the Group of Seven nations agreed to provide Ukraine with about $20 billion in short-term economic support to stabilize its economy amid the ongoing Russian invasion.
Since April, Ukrainian leaders have beseeched American and European leaders to help cover their government’s growing budget deficit, estimated to be approximately $5 billion per month. Russia’s invasion has caused more than $90 billion in infrastructure damage, according to estimates by the Kyiv School of Economics, and Ukraine is beginning to struggle to pay government salaries and pensions amid new humanitarian needs arising from massive internal displacement.
Roughly $9.5 billion of the $20 billion agreed to by the G-7 leaders at the conference in western Germany will come from the U.S. aid package approved by Congress earlier this week. Treasury Secretary Janet L. Yellen told reporters that the allies were united in ensuring Ukraine had requisite financing to head off further disaster. The European Commission pledged to provide an additional 9 billion euros.
“All of us pledged to do what’s necessary,” she said. “We want to pull together with the resources they need to get through this.”
Ukrainian officials told The Washington Post early Friday that they were pleased by the G-7 actions, but that more long-term assistance may be necessary.
