If that was the case it would be a widespread fact instead of just a fringe belief.0

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said Wednesday if he had young children now he would "probably" vaccinate them against measles—but he cautioned people against taking medical advice from him. Man, five years later and this debate continues to rage.-- As noted above, millions -- most -- American adults have at least one comorbidity. My husband is a living kidney donor, so f--k him, right? He should have paused to think about the consequences before giving his dad a kidney and allowing him to live another six years? Honestly, I don't know what bothers me more: the fact that scientific literacy made NO advances during/ due to Covid or the fact that people failed to develop empathy or a sense of responsibility toward other humans.-- Flattening the curve/ slowing the spread was intended to help prevent overload of the healthcare system, so if you *did* have severe Covid -- or a heart attack, stroke, appendicitis, or were in a car accident -- there would be a bed and doctors to care for you. I had to take my husband to the ER in early 2022 and the hospital still was so overwhelmed that the emergency department hallways were full of people in beds.-- Herd immunity: Some people cannot get the vaccine. Others, such as transplant recipients, do not develop antibodies after being vaccinated. The rest of us should get vaccinated to make it less likely that we spread the disease to someone who has no natural defenses. Oh, those folks should just stay home, right? Guess what? They did. My father in law stayed home and watched church online. My dear friend, 85+ years old and all of 85 pounds, had breathing problems, so another person and I got her groceries for ten months, until she could get fully vaccinated.I was fully vaccinated, got the booster, still got Covid, and was out of commission for nearly three weeks. I ran fifteen great miles a few days before I got sick and went on a brisk six-mile hike that same day. I also take 4-6 weeks to recover from a common cold, even with the Prevnar vaccine.I'm exhausted and depressed by this thread. If the science won't sink in, maybe the part where, as a member of society, you have certain obligations, maybe that will. I've had strong libertarian tendencies my entire life. "Your rights end at the tip of my nose." -- I like that saying! But shit like cigarette smoke and Covid droplets enter my nose and make me sick, and I take issue with that. You do not have the right to make me or anyone else sick. I view availing oneself of vaccinations as a basic civil duty. Why can/should we not argue that anti-vaxxers should be isolated, instead? Seriously -- if you're determined to be an unrepentant plague vector, why should the rest of society be expected to accommodate you?All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.0

Being immunocompromised is not a lifestyle choice, and suggesting that real health issues are phobias is callous, trollish, and grossly lacking in empathy.Your argument also, more broadly, suggests that we should just capitulate to bullies -- wouldn't it be easier to just let the GA line cutters be on the rail in front of Mike? Isn't it so much easier to just let the flippers take entire boxes of posters at the merch tent? Instead of traffic laws, wouldn't it be easier to just yield right of way to the biggest vehicles? And if a few children, or a few thousand children, get mowed down by big-ass trucks in a hurry, well, isn't it easier to just tell kids to stay out of crosswalks if they're so scared of being hit by a truck? Why do we even live in social groups? We do so to protect the more vulnerable among us -- children, the elderly, those who are sick or injured. This is such a fundamental concept that it boggles my mind that I need to spell it out.All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.0
