Lockdowns saved the medical system from complete collapse. There is no debate about that. Masking and social distancing were measures taken with the info we had at the time. Something is always better than nothing.

I guess magats just prefer to sneeze in someone’s face at will.
Ironically, the only true lockdowns in the U.S. were at nursing homes, and they were a disaster for the health and safety of the people living in them. Everyone else was free to leave their homes.

There were many smart public-health measures adopted by state and local governments, as well as the federal government and private businesses, that helped mitigate the spread, but we've got to get away from referring to them as "lockdowns." That's not what they were.
Correct. I guess I just use that term liberally when just referring to restrictions.

    The Pandemic’s Wrongest Man

In a crowded field of wrongness, one person stands out: Alex Berenson.

    Updated at 1:56 p.m. on April 1, 2021.

The pandemic has made fools of many forecasters. Just about all of the predictions whiffed. Anthony Fauci was wrong about masks. California was wrong about the outdoors. New York was wrong about the subways. I was wrong about the necessary cost of pandemic relief. And the Trump White House was wrong about almost everything else.

In this crowded field of wrongness, one voice stands out. The voice of Alex Berenson: the former New York Times reporter, Yale-educated novelist, avid tweeter, online essayist, and all-around pandemic gadfly. Berenson has been serving up COVID-19 hot takes for the past year, blithely predicting that the United States would not reach 500,000 deaths (we’ve surpassed 550,000) and arguing that cloth and surgical masks can’t protect against the coronavirus (yestheycan).

mRNA is gonna lead to so many medical breakthroughs. My fear is RFK is gonna set us back a decade after jumping ahead one because of covid.

So stupid. You let your politics influence your medical choices. Let’s play this out.

Human trials start next year that enable the heart to regrow muscle after a heart attack. The death of heart muscle is what leads to heart failure. MRNA technology has been used to successfully regrow this, making an unhealthy heart that of a 35 year old again. But you would just pass on that. Great thinking.

Human trials start next year that enable the heart to regrow muscle after a heart attack. The death of heart muscle is what leads to heart failure. MRNA technology has been used to successfully regrow this, making an unhealthy heart that of a 35 year old again. But you would just pass on that. Great thinking.
Yep great strides I’m lucky that my heart wasn’t damaged when I had my heart attack if it was I’d definitely would look into this!
You’re very lucky if you didn’t lose tissue. Take care of yourself.

So stupid. You let your politics influence your medical choices. Let’s play this out.

mRNA is not poison. It exists in your body and allows you to synthesize proteins. And neither the current government-- by which I assume you mean the Biden administration-- nor the prior government told you you "had to" receive an mRNA vaccine.
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

just the military. which is a requirement to maintaon force readiness. Washington "innoculated" his troops with live small pox, an unproven untested theory that proved the right course  of action.
and healthcare workers. which given their position and proximity to people with the virus helped protect them and their families.

we weren't required to at my work, but I got it the first I was eligible.  stopping in random truck stops to use bathroom or get coffee with upwards of 100 trucks on the lot when I pulled in meant there was a good chance the virus was present. at times across the country drivers were sick and isolated in their trucks and some died.

Yes, but there were also non-mRNA options.

I think only one of the three approved vaccines in the US were mRNA if I’m not mistaken.

Novavax is non-mRNA and also available now (though not in 2021).
