We have now narrowed the field down to 6 great American bands. From these we will decide who the GREATEST AMERICAN BAND is.

You are going to pick the band that you think is the "Weakest Link" after 2 days I remove the two (2) bands with the most votes. We will then move on to Round 3.

    I can't decide. this is fucking tough. I'm not a massive fan of either REM or Ramones but can recognize their contributions. I love SG but think maybe they are the right choice here.

    I love both bands for different reasons.  They had different styles and different strengths.  I don't think it's a stretch at all to suggest they both had about the same amount of influence on rock, but in very different ways.  I'm just surprised at how underappreciated they are here.  It's puzzling to me.

    I really like the Ramones, but not as much as Petty. That being said, you're right about them both having a tremendous influence on rock. I honestly voted too fast...I would have dropped AIC instead of The Ramones.
