considering all the laws being passed that directly impact and harm the people who are trans, i can see one of them taking up guns and doing things like this. you can only push an already heavily marginalized person so far.

I always hear that. So I decided to see if it’s true. Doesn’t appear to be close to true at all.
I read 4 or 5 different sources and all put white males at about 50-60% of the mass shooters, below their percent of the population.
Stats vary due to the differences in defining mass shooting. But none would indicate whites are disproportionately high mass shooters.

I'm admittedly in the dark about a lot of this story... so far all I've heard is that the shooter is a former student of the school and trans. Has some of the manifesto or intentions / motivations been revealed? 

There will be more details released, but she apparently had a manifesto and targeted that school/church. She was a former students, but she's 28 so that had to be a long time ago. Targeting a church and killing 9 year olds because they belong to said church, pretty much the definition of a hate crime.

She targeted a school she attended. If she showed up at a church during a service, then she would have been targeting a church. But she didn't, she targeted a school while it was in session. 

There's a pretty big difference there.
