That was a very good read thanks.

Surprised that insurance is an issue with the world we live in now but I guess even those companies have had enough and do not want further losses. It actually makes a lot of sense on why PJ is potentially waiting on announcing next years dates now with some uncertainty still out there with covid.
    Surprised in what sense?
I just assumed that they could back out with covid being an excuse at any point after announcing the tour. It looks like that is not the case for some locations hence the risk of announcing too early.  Lots of bands have been doing this this year.

As a fan I want them to announce the dates asap but stuff like this makes sense from a business perspective to not  announce until they are almost certain the shows will happen.
That was probably true before Covid was a known thing. Once it became known, any reasonable insurance company is going to not cover Covid as a reason for cancellation. Either that or the premiums to cover are insane.

If album sales actually made $$$ like back in the day, I suspect everyone would just be cranking out albums and nobody would be out on tour. Let's face it, a few members of Pearl Jam probably have enough money to not deal with this poop. Especially the ones with young kids at home.

There are two great festivals in Monterrey and Mexico City in November (Foo Fighters, Tame Impala, Twenty One Pilots). I just got back from Mexico City and it is an amazing place full of tacos. Would highly recommend if you are mildly adventurous.

Mexico City is indeed pretty cool, esp if you can handle chaos and hellacious traffic.  Massive city, great food, lots to see.  But crazy income inequality (even more than the US!).  I felt guilty being a wealthy gringo, confronted with poverty at every turn (and the soldiers armed with automatic weapons at many shops made me feel less comfortable, rather than more comfortable),
I've seen quite a few Pearl Jam shows.

If I was a betting man I would of said no chance at SA shows next year. I would of guessed they did ballpark shows after Europe then a fall tour in NA after with 2023 giving the SA countries some love.
  • Awesome. Maybe this means we get more than just the rescheduled shows in the spring

Probably way less chance of needing to cancel an outdoor stadium show.  Might be a smart move by The Weeknd.

Maybe i am missing something here with the translation but is there not only one night left? The same guy said GNR would be headlining too a month ago and they have yet to announce them as the headliner. Odd for him to announce them and PJ with one slot left but again maybe google translate is not allowing me to see the full picture.

If they really are playing a SA leg in the Fall, and considering we havent even heard about the first leg of NA Tour.... I think whats more realistic would be

Expanded NA tour Feb/March/April (big tour)
    Europe June/July
    Ballparks August (5-7 shows Max)
SA September (5-7 shows, mostly festivals)
    And maybe AUS in Dec/Jan

I would be willing to bet alot of money that they wont play 4 full legs of shows in a 1 year period.

SA in September could just be a couple big shows, then ACL early October (x2) weekends with other US dates around that.
The tour model I think has kind of been reset and it seems like from their 2020 plans they were willing to be on the road more than they were previously.
    2003 - June 15 Fargo
    2005 - Sept 1 George, Sept 8 Winnipeg
2006 - May 9/10 Toronto, June 26/27 St. Paul, July 22/23 George, Oct 21/22 Mountain View
    2007 - Aug 2/5 Chicago
    2008 - June 22 Washington, June 24/25 New York
    2009 - Aug 21 Toronto, Aug 23/24 Chicago, Sept 21/22 Seattle, Oct 27/28/30/31 Philadelphia
    2010 - May 15 Hartford, May 17 Boston, Oct 23/24 Mountain View
2011 - Sept 3/4 Alpine Valley, Sept 11/12 Toronto, Sept 17 Winnipeg, Sept 19 Saskatoon
    2012 - Sept 30 Missoula
2013 - July 16 London, July 19 Chicago, Oct 12 Buffalo, Dec 2 Calgary, Dec 4 Vancouver, Dec 6 Seattle
    2014 - Oct 16 Detroit, Oct 19 St. Paul, Oct 20 Milwaukee
    2015 - Sept 23 (Colbert)/Sept 26, New York
    2016 - Apr 28/29 Philadelphia, May 10/12 Toronto, Aug 20/22 Chicago
  • Please NOT FEB ! I have 2 major conflicting events then already! March/April or into early May, similar to the original dates would be  so much better.

That's what I was thinking too.  Normally, SA tours are only about 6-8 shows.

And 2013 only had 3. Still aside from Australia being obvious for sometime in 2023 if SA has a significant amount of shows this year next year is going to be dry and why would they blow it all on one year?

I would much prefer a spring and fall tour for NA. Would allow a lot more fans to see more shows I would imagine travel wise. I think we are getting 50 plus shows next year easy with or without SA. AUS may happen in December next year but more than likely we get the Jan/Feb PJ and EV solo tour I would guess,

IDK about that maybe NA isn't until 2023.  Hopefully not.  Granted post COVID might change stuff but havent had more then 30ish shows in a year since 2006.
