haha, maybe he rethought his stance when his anti-vaxx songs failed to generate any sales and realized the music world didn't give two fucks if he cancelled his dates.
Screw EC & VM fans should throw masks on stage at their shows.
They were both always kind of dicks. Geniuses.. but still
why was Clapton's racism swept under the carpet? I didn't hear anything about any of this anti-immigration bullshit until quite recently.
Because lots of boomers were racist in the 1970s?
I get that, but in today's society, these things are usually brought to the forefront, especially when that person is in the news for other reasons.

I see. I don't know. Well for one, he did apologize profusely for his on stage rant in the 70s. Second, it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the particular topic of vaccines.
I'm not a puritan so I have no problems forgiving someone that apologized for an act 40 years ago. If there's something more recent, I'm not aware of it. But perhaps still off topic.
I do think Eric Clapton has always benefited from a reputation that doesn't recognize that he's kind of an ass. Not really sure why. Maybe it was his clean-cut look and heart-felt rendition of "Tears in Heaven" on MTV unplugged...

Moondance and Astral Weeks are two of my favorite records of all time. I try to block out the fact that VM was a drunk, abusive prick.
Agreed - extraordinary albums. The Way Young Lovers Do is a masterpiece. The way Jeff Buckley performed it on Live at Sin-E is out of this world too.

I'm not familiar with that recording. Will have to look it up.

Michigan passes 1 million confirmed COVID-19 cases
25 mins ago
LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan has recorded more than 1 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, the health department said Wednesday.
The state crossed that threshold by reporting 6,079 new cases over the last two days. There have been at least 20,781 deaths in Michigan linked to COVID-19.
“After more than 18 months fighting this pandemic, it is sobering to reach the milestone of 1 million confirmed cases. ... I ask everyone who is eligible to be vaccinated as quickly as possible,” said Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, Michigan’s chief medical executive.
Nearly 58% of eligible Michigan residents, 12 and older, are fully vaccinated, according to the health department.
Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan told The Detroit News that he believes a “major wave” of cases is coming this fall.
“If you combine a surge in patients with the difficulty filling staff," Duggan said, referring to hospitals, "I think we’re going to have a major problem in Michigan in the next couple of months.”
Less than 50% of eligible Detroit residents are fully vaccinated.
“When the COVID rate starts to climb in this state in the next month or two, you’re going to see what you saw in Florida — the vaccination rate is going to start to climb,” Duggan predicted.

Alaska outlines plans to help hospitals amid COVID-19 cases
By BECKY BOHRER

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — Alaska officials outlined plans Wednesday to help hospitals prioritize care if needed amid a surge in COVID-19 cases and announced short-term contracts for more than 400 health care personnel to relieve medical facilities with overtaxed staffs.
State health commissioner Adam Crum signed an addendum to a public health emergency order that he said provides guidance to hospitals, care providers and local health authorities if crisis standards of care are needed. They are guidelines for prioritizing care if hospital resources are overwhelmed.
He said providers will have access to committees that can “help them provide strategies and alternate tools in order to provide care.”
The department said hospitals or health care facilities can contact it if they think they need to implement crisis standards of care and a 15-member committee will meet and help provide guidance on options.
The document calls for the department to facilitate daily statewide meetings “to identify and prioritize transfers to available beds, treatments, and identify and mitigate gaps in the health care system."
Earlier this month, Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage implemented crisis standards, with Dr. Kristen Solana Walkinshaw, the hospital's chief of staff. She said the number of patients and level of care that they needed was exceeding the hospital's resources.

and thats a fucking dumbass. gonna walk from lifetime retirement pay and medical
Answer:
A lieutenant colonel can make just under $10,000
per month in retirement. This calculation is determined by multiplying
the years of service (to retire at this ranking it must be at least 20
years) by 2-2.5% of the colonel's final basic pay rate. Their ranking
fits into the 0-5 pay grade scale, and their basic monthly pay ranges
from $5,778.00-$9,816.60, depending on their total number of years in
the service. The total pay is also affected by two different types of
retirement systems based on the lieutenant colonel's service entry date,
and the government has offered the following benefits for the following
systems:

My work is making it mandatory to disclose your vaccination status. If you choose not to say you are deemed unvaccinated. Anyone that is unvaccinated, on their own time, has to get tested 3 times a week or they are not allowed to come to work. I do shift work so its a 5 on 5 off kind of schedule. Workers that have to get tested and are not working that day have to go to work and get tested anyways. Some people I know live an hour or more away from work. This is a huge deal right now for them and yet they are still not budging on getting the vaccine. Some are even thinking the next step is they are going to be let go. And again they have no intention of getting it. Amazing how deep some of these people are with not getting the vaccine.
The OSHA rule is having it's effect. Companies are now beginning to start the process of requiring vaccination or weekly testing (on their own time and dime) of employees and contractors. For larger companies you will see this in place in November.

Will November be too late? CNN has an article up that this maybe the last major wave for the virus. Not many people have been right yet with how these things are going to unfold but lets say it is the last major wave what happens to all of these vaccine mandates? Stays in affect for how long?

they say it will be the last major wave of the pandemic, but this will remain endemic, so I think, to prevent subsequent waves in the future, these mandates will be here for some time, if not for good.
honestly, me neither. I think I've heard this more than once about this "being the last wave". I guess they are seeing some evidence of delta tapering off, or at least plateauing a bit, with no new variants of concern in a bit, so maybe that's why? I'm not sure.
All along they say "follow the science". Now the CDC director overrules her own advisers so the policy aligns with what the Biden administration had already taken a hard stance on. Interesting. And no, I'm not an anti-vaxxer. Got vaxxed as soon as I was able to. The hypocrisy that exists on both sides is just disgusting.
