Put back in a designated spotI put a cart in the designated spot. Around here, cashiers take the baskets and return them when they aren't busy.0

Leave it where I finish with it

Interesting! Thanks for being honest -- your explanation indicates why you do it and does not make you seem like a jerk for leaving it out there.

OtherOther. I take it back to the front of the store where I got it.I did that just a couple of hours ago. This guy is out there in the parking lot fighting the fumes and the triple digit heat pushing this train of hot carts back to the front of the store where they started out. I take my one cart- handle still cool from being in the air conditioned store- and return in to the front of the store just behind the kid pushing that hot cart train. He turns and thanks me with a look of much gratitude in his eyes. I'm thinking, "No big deal kid. It's one cart. easy peasy." And I'm an old fucker. I feel bad for these kids getting shit wages and slaving out there in the heat for us spoiled rotten consumers.Post edited by brianlux on"It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0

While I understand your thinking here, especially in this unbearable heat, I have no guilt putting the cart in the designated cart spots throughout the parking lots. What drives me nuts is when you go to pull into a spot and there is a resting cart in the parking spot. I immediately spout out, you lazy ass mother fuckers. I have even called out people who do just that, like, really, you're just going to leave the cart there . ..brianlux said:Other. Realized I have put my life in jeopardy just asking that question.
People suck. I put them in the same category as those who throw trash out their car windows, people who leave trash all over where they have spent the day . . the park, the beach. Just ignorant and self absorbed.Don't come closer or I'll have to go0 -

Yes, and I apologize if I was sounding like pointing fingers. If I'm running late or having trouble walking, I'll put the cart in the closest designated spot as well. But yeah, when they are left out in a parking space or shoved up on the nearest foliage or whatever, that's just wrong!

The only store I do that too is Wal Mart…can’t stand that shithole store…F Me In The Brain said:Meltdown99 said:Most grocery stores here in Canada charge rent for the US of the cart…you must put in a loonie in order to unlock it…
Wal Mart does not. And on the rare occasion I go to Wal Mart…I leave the cart where I unload. The customer service at wal mart and most of our grocery stores do not warrant cooperation…Interesting. Perhaps an Other vote qualification. Too late now, I know, but it seems there would be an asterisk here. You put back because you rent them, otherwise you think the people working at most of these stores should have to retrieve the carts from where you unload due to poor customer service.

Put back in a designated spotFirst job was at a grocery store bagging, stocking and cart corralling. Any time I return my cart after unloading groceries, I gladly collect any stray carts in my path and push them to the designated area. I also often fix the fucking mess of carts in the corral because it drives me crazy that somebody got it all the way to the spot and then half-ass shoved it in off center, sideways or completely out of it so they stick out beyond the space they are intended to be in. I'm sure we've all gotten to the store and seen that overloaded return area with the kittywampus carts sticking out all jagged and fucked up with a few strays next to it.
Edit: While I'm on it, I also can't stand it when a store doesn't let me bag my groceries. Most people have no fucking clue how to bag. They either think I'm a fragile 90 year old nursing home resident and put 5 items in my reinforced canvas bag or toss frozens and fridge items in a variety of bags instead of together. Not to mention that during the height of the pandemic last year when I couldn't use my cloth bags and had to endure idiots trying to double paper bag every damn thing and still only fill it half-full. Fill it up people! The earth is fucked enough already.Post edited by tbergs onIt's a hopeless situation...0 -
Put back in a designated spotI have just spent time walking around the store who knows how many steps. The few steps to get the cart back where it belongs doesn’t strike me as any real hardship.0

Put back in a designated spotI worked in retail and it's a pain in the ass when you had to retrieve the shopping carts all over the parking lot. Especially during the Christmas season.

I believe he may just be referring to the increase in shopping carts left all over during the Christmas season, not because of snow conditions, correct??? Signifying that during the holidays, even more people suck.deadendp said:

I was mainly thinking of increase cause of the Christmas season. Although the snow conditions did kinda suck as well.

OtherI choose other as I usually put the trolley (carridge, lol!) back in the designated area at the front of the store. I occasionally take the trolley back to designated spots scattered around the car park.
The odd few times I might leave the trolley near the car parking space but not obstructing a car parking space.
Sometimes after I have emptied the shopping into the car someone might ask if they can take the trolley which is an added bonus!
Places like Aldi you have to take the trolley back if you want your pound coin back.
