Do you care about all of your limited edition/PJ merch equally?
I find that hard to believe, but it's not a matter of logic.
If you're so selective in your purchases, would you really have bought this yesterday, immediately, when it said it is coming out on 8/13...or would you have thought about just picking it up at a store to save on shipping and the time it takes Ten Club to ship things?
People are understandably upset that they missed it, but people would also be complaining if they bought it and it was available at Target, like purple Ten was.
It's the internet, and people will complain no matter what. Like I said, there's no way to make a limited edition record for all 10 club members.
I ended up being able to place an order through that merchbar site, and they cancelled it. That's worth complaining about IMO, but it's also not the end of my world.
Of course I'd have jumped at this yesterday - there was a very clear implication that the clear variant was exclusive to 10C. This fact makes me no less 'selective' in my purchasing choices. I have no interest in owning another black vinyl general release copy. I don't see why this is so hard to understand...
People collect differently and use different reasoning. If I wanted this or something bad enough, I would consider selling something that I don't care about as much, especially since some collectors do buy multiples of things to keep. I often buy 2 copies of a record, one to spin and one to keep sealed. If I really wanted this, I'd consider selling/trading something I have like an extra record or a poster sitting in a flatfile. I picked up a second copy of backspacer when I saw one a few months ago, knowing it is out of print and that maybe I could trade it for something I can't afford or miss out on.
That's what I meant, but I guess it's also just me. I shouldn't have generalized that anyone would do that or assume that you have things you'd part with for this.Dallas 2013

The expectation that members have to sit around F5'ing this message board...Facebook/IG...and their emails to have a shot at things is ridiculous.Or wait to post it on FB until after the email disseminiates. It seemed to be for sale for a bit after I got the email, but once it showed up in my FB feed the demand grew exponentially.I'm not sure I believe in the wait for X time for it to go on sale, because we're crazy, and we'll probably crash the website. But waiting an hour for the email to disseminate before posting on social media wouldn't hurt. Also not sure how much that would do, because people were also posting about it in the social media groups.0 -

I didn't get one. I'll just get the black vinyl on 8/13. If you are that big a collector that you have to have clear vinyl, then I bet you can afford it on ebay or sell / trade something you have to find one.

A historical example on pre-order communication. Talk about burying the headline.
Also bizarre to realize the date on this. Is there something special about June 15th?June 15, 2004

If I remember correctly, we somehow figured out that it would go live at midnight PST. I was east coast at the time and that meant staying up until 3am and playing the F5 game while the site choked. We then sat on our hands with no news until September 23rd to be told that they would finally be shipping September 27th.0

There’s still a Yield reissue available in the shop and the opening paragraph is identical (specifically remastered blah blah original packaging yada yada)0

When I worked at Amazon 10 years ago we could look up the number of copies that were coming in from the supplier vs. the number of customer orders. It was always really sad to see how many people were going to be disappointed for limited releases. To a pretty high threshold Amazon would happily take customers money and hope that they could procure additional inventory.0

ho hum usual story, sold out before i even hear about it. looks like some flipper will be getting my cash...... AGAIN0

Many were ready to order that box set immediately, but there was less fervor for vinyl then. It was actually still available the following morning.
Disappointed to miss the clear vinyl version of my favorite album. I have four of the original release so I skipped the 2016 pressing, but may get the regular release of this one. Which photo set will come with this and will they will be the same size? I still need set C from the original group.
As with the last pressing of Yield, I'm surprised it was not expanded to two discs. I still wish they would revisit the deluxe album box sets and give us a No Code/Yield combo set.

I get the frustration with missing out on this, but the black version is coming out at the same time, so if you don't currently own No Code, you will this summer.I think having exclusive items, (especially with a fan base that loves its collecting), is a fun idea. Some times you get one, but more than often you miss out. At the end of the day you won't be deprived of the music, you'll just be looking at a different color. I collect a bit, and I've missed a lot of stuff. I've also had opportunities to buy items that I thought, people won't go crazy for this, only to toss it from my cart and realize later that it has sold out and its value has skyrocketed. But that's part of the excitement of collecting, and sometimes it is worth evaluating what you have, and seeking out trades for something you desire more. That's just me.0
