I ate before I left my hotel at 3:30, so I was pretty hungry after the show. That’s when I needed food and all the restaurants I went into had closed their kitchen and every food stand on the boardwalk was slammed.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.
Yeah, something could be said for coming in 2 hours before a show thinking you could check out bands and not be holed up getting food for sure.
Another issue was water. Another pain in the ass, pretty sure there was only two spots to refill - at the front and in the middle.
Your correct, only those two locations.
Although food & water locations were somewhat inconvenient, it wasn't anything like Uber after. I spent way more time waiting for a ride than I did in merch, food & beer lines combined.
I climbed up to that railing on the boardwalk to get out and I was winded in a manner that was quite concerning.

I'm a seasoned pro for cons & concerts, so I knew the lines would be an issue. Around 2pm, stopped by a crummy bodega, and got 2 slices of pizza & a root beer for $4. Brought in granola bars & cookies in my clear backpack. Somehow scored a parking spot by the Pony, which became my rest spot (left the Festival twice to unwind, plunked down about $13.50 for parking til 2am - Ocean Ave Stomp!) Had a $9 smoothie at Playa Bowl that I'm convinced kept me alive throughout the night. Evened that out with a corn dog from the boardwalk. Scored a Korean Beef taco for about $5 inside the show, and had my Discover card on my wristband, so my Sierra Nevada IPA cost me about $4 after tip. I was blessed by the Gods.

I found that the alcohol stands closest to the beach were mobbed. But then I found that there was a line of tents selling alcohol like 100 yards long. Just tent after tent of booze to the right of the park stage. Zero wait over there.

Same. It was worth the walk.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.
The easiest way out after PJs set was to go to the thinned out crowd in the middle of the beach and walk toward the other end until you see an empty staircase. Too many people pushing to get to the boardwalk right away when you can just walk the beach first.

That is among a handful of things I learned and did better on day 2.

Did anyone get to view from the VIP area?…I’m curious to see if it was worth the premium price…
My pics were from the VIP section. It was only really worth it if you got there early. It seemed to be easier to come and go. For me, the bathrooms and free seltzer were worth the upcharge. Those porta potties were deadly.
I am sure the VIP section was nicer. But I disagree about the GA bathrooms. They were not bad at all. I have been to festivals where they just have the normal porta potties that don't flush and they are so nasty, and have long lines. These were not like that. These flushed, had plenty of toilet paper, and they had stall doors that were open at the top - so air circulated. I used them several times, and they were fine. I didn't have to hold my breath at all. There were also so many that there was never a wait. In and out - easy peasy.
@GlowGirl I'm sorry but you totally missed an opportunity to use "easy-peesy"
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?
There was plenty of restaurants outside the fest. No reason to eat inside.
We had lunch at Iron Whale at 4pm and didn’t bother with food/bev inside.
We had the same idea. We had reservations for the Robinson Ale house at 2pm and it worked out perfect. Went into the show, walked out had lunch at a table with waiter service and went back into the show.
And after listening to this boot of DOTC....what's people's issue with the vocal loops? They definitely don't sound pre-recorded, they're being looped live.
Sounds really good. Agree with @Ledbetterman10 it almost sounds better than it did live.
I think maybe it's a festival thing...or at least where you're standing at a festival. The only other show I've been to where I've felt the official bootleg sounded better than being there live was Lollapalooza '07.

I agree. I stood in a couple different spots at SHN and the sound varied widely. From great to barely able to hear.

You're not wrong, huge spaces. Funny you mention that show it comes to mind for me, too, in that sense. That was a hot, hot day.

I must've drank a dozen of those big "smart waters" that day. Unbearably hot.
Someone claimed the loops sounded the same at SHN and at the Ohana shows i.e. they were prerecorded.
So it sounds like they might have been sung by the same person at both shows?
Haha...this guy singing in front of me sounds a lot like the guy on the record hmmmmm
Going down the rabbit hole, listening to years’ worth of boots and doing the Charlie Day pinboard meme. All these versions of Alive sound suspiciously similar…
