Good point on Crazy Mary and that's part of the point of this thread...how Pearl Jam owns these covers. Baba O'Reilly is there song as is Neil's Rocking in the Free World. I have another one that should become a staple, Led Zep's Thank You!!

Covers are better when they are rare and played for some specific reason, like a tribute or in a particular location.
Def agree- I actually enjoy some of the covers ive heard - although Im good if i never hear RITFW or Baba ever again. I like the idea of location - ie Manchester - would be amazing if cover one of iconic Manchester bands. Same goes with London. Just my 2 cents.

With a shortened setlist I would prefer just original songs at this point. When the band was cranking out 30-33 song setlists it seemed reasonable - bottom line is it is their party - so if that makes them happy to cover Petty, Cheap Trick, or Dylan - have at it.
I really don't understand playing the same covers over and over. I mean, maybe for one tour, but then retire them. Cover songs are fun if they're markedly different from the original. Either way, I NEVER need to hear Baba done by anyone ever again. Sorry, for those who like hearing that one. I'd love to hear them do "You Better You Bet" if it must be a Who song.

yes! I'd like to hear them do "the seeker' too
The Real Me was great to hear.
Back in 2022, Son Volt played a pretty rocking cover of The Seeker during their encore at a number of shows.

Duran Duran has already claimed it.
This is Chris Cornell's song if you ask me. RIP
Agreed. 💔
100% Chris' song but sadly we never get to hear that majestic voice live ever again...so let Eddie take the "reigns" ha I've said it before and I'll say it again, best vocalists ever for me are Chris Cornell #1A and Eddie Vedder a #1B

Still ISO LA Tickets for next month, both shows. I can't believe I got shutout this year from 10C. I'm hoping to hear some new covers too. Maybe they could do a Black Keys cover. That would be fun. Jeff would crush the heavy bass in Gold on the Ceiling. Not sure anything is really fitting of theirs for Ed...I'd be curious to see what he'd pick. I know PJ had them open for 'em so I think the two bands like each other.

I'm probably the only weirdo in the world that wants them to cover a Grateful Dead song. It would marry my two greatest musical loves.
The song Wharf Rat seems absolutely perfect. A tune about a down on his luck houseless guy down by the wharf in San Francisco, recounting the story of how he came to be in this predicament. Themes of regret, redemption, hope...Seems like a song Eddie could nail, with a section for Mike to wail.
I'm guessing my wish will never be fulfilled, but a guy can dream!
I'm not usually one to suggest a cover of a hit, more a deeper cut that is somewhat unexpected...that being said, if they ever do a full Hip cover...it has to be Grace, Too. In Toronto. That opening bass riff. The place would EXPLODE. It's a song that fits well with Ed's vocal style and Stone's back up vocals. And Jeff would absolutely love it.
"Oh Canada...you're beautiful when you're drunk" -EV 8/14/93
My cover request: For love of all that is holy retire Won't Back Down. Every other cover not named Baba or RITFW seems to disappear except this song.
If you want to do Tom do something else: American Girl, Breakdown, I need to Know, Refugee, The Waiting, don't come around here no more, learning to fly, mary jane's last dance. holy shit he has so many great songs. Won't back down at this point honestly has worn thinner then Last Kiss.
I’m wondering what covers they’ll do tonight and tomorrow. I’ll try and respond with video ha!
