Yeah. Apparently something similar happened a few months back as well. It's sad and strange.

My favorite local record store had that surfboard for sale several years ago. I think it sold for $100,000 or $125,000. I can't remember.

Whoa!  Awesome.  But I can't imagine paying that much for a surf board. They'd have to throw in the Corvette and Grand Prix, the sail boat, and the goats.  Then maybe we'd have a deal.

Shut Down Volume 2 album coverSummer Days And Summer Nights album coverPet Sounds album cover

At least one goat! I think the surfboard was displayed in the Grammy Museum in Downtown LA for years and to some collectors a 100K is nothing, which is insane. It's crazy though when you walk into that store and see that type of stuff for sale  They have a Beatles piece now for $700K.

A Beatles piece?  Like "bang bang, shoot shoot?"

Yeah. A lot of album covers have been replaced with one picture of some guy and the same writing on each one. It's really weird.

WTF?  Say it ain't so!  Argh!

Are you guys sure?  I tried to find info on the hacking and all I get is 3 and 4 year old links.  Any recent links to share?

I saw it first hand earlier today a bunch of my album covers were changed to the ones I was speaking of and so I googled it and a foreign website under the news tab on Google mentioned something about a discogs hack about 3 months ago or so by either the same or similar group. I just checked the app again and it seems discogs has removed the phony album covers from at least the ones I was seeing earlier but who knows if any are left out there. Im talking about recent releases that are very visible to a lot of people too. One was the new Black Keys and one of the reissue PJ Harvey albums. I didn't want to take a screenshot and have something like that on my phone but trust me it was very visible earlier today. Hopefully they patched it up.

    😂
I was hoping someone would comment on that. I’ve only known them as Yaz, but whoever created the entry for the Canadian vinyl issue called them Yazoo.
Perhaps there was a Canadian band named Yaz and they had to name themselves something else? I remember when Bush was called “Bushx” in Canada in the 90s because of a Canadian band with the same name. They settled out of court and the “x” was dropped.

EDIT - just read that they were only known as Yaz in North America because a small American rock band had the name Yazoo. Now what are the chances of that? So in the UK and everywhere else they are Yazoo.
