The Live Experience Band – Voodoo Chile - Live Experience 69-70

    Label:TT Record – HSP 495, TT Record – 495
    Format:
    Vinyl, LP, Stereo
    Country:Germany
    Released:1970
    Genre:Rock

Discogs gives this information about this oddity:

    The Live Experience Band

    Profile:
Hamburg session band circa 1969-71 involving producer Ch. Icem. The records were deliberate attempts to entice Hendrix fans, and although Jimi was not at all involved the releases gained a cult status amongst collectors of guitar psychedelia. The incognito band was in fact Sphinx Tush.

Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers – Damn The Torpedoes

Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers - Damn The Torpedoes album cover

    Label:MCA Records – MCA-1486
    Format:
    Vinyl, LP, Club Edition, Reissue
    Country:US
    Released:1987
    Genre:Rock
    Style:Southern Rock

I went over to a friend's place not long after that album came out.  I was only vaguely aware of Tom Petty's music and had not yet seen or heard of Damn the Torpedoes.  So this friend said, "You going to love this record!"  Was he ever right!  That was one of those first listens that you always remember that simply knocks your socks off!
It is such a great record.  My favorite Petty song of all time (well, I guess it depend on my mood) is on that record.  Louisiana Rain is a song that gets sort of lost in all of those hits, but it's such a gorgeous tune.

    Petty was the best.

Great record, Traffic is awesome.  Do you have John Barleycorn Must Die?  Also awesome and the original pressing is very good.

Marion Brown, oh man!   One of my favorite sax players.  He had such great tone and the ability to balance melodic lines with amazing flights of creative free form beauty.  One of the best.

I had John Barleycorn Must Die. But it has gone missing from my collection along with several other albums from various moves over the years. I should buy a new copy. But I do have Mr. Fantasy. I love that one.

It is really frustrating when I have records go missing. It baffles me, especially when they are records I would NEVER sell. I had all of my AC/DC records disappear. I also had a signed Ultravox record that I personally had them sign and there is no way in hell I would have ever let that go. Sometimes I wonder if somone stole them, but I can't fathom any friends who've been over who would do that. It's a damn mystery and I'm still holding out hope that I just misplaced them.

For me I think it was the days I lived with roommates when I was in my 20s. I have had records disappear and other ones show up in my collection that I know I never bought myself - so at some point records got switched - maybe during parties or something. We used to throw quite a few of them in those days.
