No Kill, Lab Grown Meat. Will you eat it?

Crickets don’t sound overly appetizing, but I know people that have eaten them and it was no big thing. Frog legs are delicious, though, I don’t care what anyone saysoftenreading said:I'd rather eat this stuff than insect protein, which is frankly the other direction we're going as the global population increases.
I've been offered baked goods made with cricket protein, but could not make myself try it.
(I have eaten frog in Vietnam, but only to not appear rude to our hosts. Would rather not go down that road, either.)
. Truthfully, if you eat shrimp, then insects should not be too much of a leap. I would probably add ketchup though, haha
What I’m curious about, though, is what the anti-GMO crowd thinks about eating lab grown meat.
Seems like it could be a bit of a conundrum...or maybe not?Post edited by PJPOWER on0 -
But frogs have natural insect protein and not the farmed, modified insect protein. Win-win.oftenreading said:I'd rather eat this stuff than insect protein, which is frankly the other direction we're going as the global population increases.

I've eaten a cricket to impress my kid at a Halloween science scary haunted house. They're okay except when the little chirping wings get stuck in the teeth!oftenreading said:I'd rather eat this stuff than insect protein, which is frankly the other direction we're going as the global population increases.

I don’t eat shrimp or lobster. I agree, they’re just bugs of the sea.PJPOWER said:

Yes.Well, GMO is not an ideal source of nutrition. But as you have referred to, its one solution for over population.I was swimming in the Great Barrier Reef

I have not eaten crickets but I have eaten deep fried, lightly salted grasshoppers. Hands down, they are the best tasting (and probably healthiest) snack food I've ever had. I'm totally serious.

Yes.We are all going to die from something. I am sure we do things a lot more risky than eating lab grown meat without even thinking about it.0

I cannot say the same. Grilled shrimp is one of my favorite foods! Followed by shrimp gumbo, fried shrimp, Cajun shrimp, shrimp scampi, coconut shrimp (in my best Forest Gump “Bubba” impression)HughFreakingDillon said:

If you can find them, yeah, give them a try. I don't know where to get them around here.PJPOWER said:

I used to love shrimp and crab and other shell fish but I don't touch any of it anymore, mainly due to the over-harvesting of sea life, but also partly due to the levels of mercury found in shell fish and partly due to increased numbers of people developing allergies to shell fish. My father became allergic and his reaction to it was very unpleasant.

I served blue rare when I was 14 at a restaurant that also trained me to wake drunks by pinching their shoulder nerve. Christ!HughFreakingDillon said:my old boss at the restaurant i worked at in the 90's used to get me to cook his steak blue rare.

Really gross. I don't eat steak that often, but when I do it has to be slightly pinkish. I can't deal with rare.HughFreakingDillon said:my old boss at the restaurant i worked at in the 90's used to get me to cook his steak blue rare.
