It seems like if an entertainer is left leaning the criticisms are that they are woke, snowflake, communist, etc.

Entertainers on the right are generally criticized for being racist, stupid, sexist.

Theres no quantifiable number. But if you find something off putting or reprehensible, it makes sense to keep your distance. And if they personally do things you disagree with, its a turnoff. But also cognitive dissonance is real too.

oh right. the author of the crack cocaine predator bill, his dismissiveness during the Thomas confirmation hearings of Anita Hill. The guy who wanted as president to establish more funding and training for law enforcement. Who pushed for and got legislation passed for investment to bring manufacturing in several sectors here, creating jobs and ensuring corpirate peofit.

    that woke, snowflake communist.

So....Just asking for a friend, how aligned do you need to be politically with an entertainer to enjoy what they do?  I mean is it 100%?  50%?  Asking the experts here...
I was kinda wondering this too. Because even though I don’t recall knowing their politics views early on, I honestly don’t think it would have made a big difference.
Unless you’re singing about rape and murder, it wouldn’t really bother me if I don’t agree. I can listen to someone’s political views, and even if I disagree I can respect your opinion as long as you’re not a nut job. I have friends that don’t align with my political, personal and religious views and we get along great.
But even if it did matter, how many songs from 10-yield are we talking about? Maybe 4 or 5 that have obvious politics ties out of about 70 that I wouldn’t want to sing along to?

(The Center Square) – The U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Committee is expanding its investigation into the “cover-up” of former President Joe Biden’s “mental decline.”

U.S. Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., sent letters to five former senior Biden White House aids, “demanding they appear for transcribed interviews.”

Letters have been sent to Michael Donilon, former senior advisor to the president; Anita Dunn, former senior advisor to the president for communications; Ronald Klain, former chief of staff; Bruce Reed, former deputy chief of staff for policy; and Steve Ricchetti, former counselor to the president.

In addition to the former president’s reported mental decline, Comer is seeking answers on the “potentially unauthorized issuance of sweeping pardons and other executive action.” Critics, including the Trump administration, have questioned whether an autopen was used to sign pardons and possibly other executive actions.

There is debate as to whether the pardons and actions could be voided if it is proven that an autopen was used.

Comer argues the need for transparency, calling the “cover-up” a significant scandal in American history.

“The American people deserve full transparency and the House Oversight Committee is conducting a thorough investigation to provide answers and accountability. The cover-up of President Biden’s mental decline is one of the greatest scandals in our nation’s history. These five former senior advisors were eyewitnesses to President Biden’s condition and operations within the Biden White House. They must appear before the House Oversight Committee and provide truthful answers about President Biden’s cognitive state and who was calling the shots," said the congressman.

Comer’s focus on the five individuals stems from a book by Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson, Original Sin, which the congressman quoted as claiming, “five people were running the country, and Joe Biden was at best a senior member of the board.”

This isn’t the first time Comer has subpoenaed key Biden White House aides. The congressman served Annie Tomasini, Anthony Bernal, and Ashley Williams with subpoenas after claiming the trio “ran interference” for the former president.

In addition, Comer has requested a transcribed interview with Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Biden’s physician. The congressman claims the “Biden White House obstructed the Committee’s investigation and refused to make the aids available to depositions or interviews.”

So when does the investigation for the cover-up of Trump's mental incapacity start?

    Never mind! AI is fun!

what does a Venn diagram of Pearl Jam, Kid Rock and Ted Nugent fans look like?

A proper Venn diagram illustrating the fanbases of Pearl Jam, Kid Rock, and Ted Nugent would show almost no overlap, as their music styles and associated demographics are sharply distinct. The diagram would feature three separate, or nearly separate, circles.

How a Venn diagram of these fanbases would look

    Little to no intersection

A traditional Venn diagram shows all possible intersections between sets. But in the case of these three artists, the overlapping areas would be very small or empty, representing a negligible number of fans who genuinely appreciate all three. The reason for the separation lies in the artists' radically different musical styles and political associations.
    • Pearl Jam: A major band of the 1990s grunge movement. Their fans typically value introspective, socially conscious, and lyrically complex rock music. The band is known for its left-leaning politics and activism.
    • Kid Rock: A musician who blended rock, country, and hip-hop in the 1990s and 2000s before shifting toward conservative political commentary. His fanbase is often described as working-class and is strongly associated with the MAGA movement.
    • Ted Nugent: A hard rock and heavy metal guitarist who rose to prominence in the 1970s. He is a prominent political conservative and outspoken activist for gun rights and hunting. His fanbase largely consists of older, hard rock enthusiasts who share his political leanings.
    The overlapping zones
    • Pearl Jam + Kid Rock fans: This intersection would be very small. A potential crossover fan might be someone who appreciated the anti-establishment ethos of both artists in the 1990s before their political paths diverged significantly.
    • Pearl Jam + Ted Nugent fans: This intersection would also be very small, if it exists at all. The bands represent different eras and subgenres of rock, and their political positions are generally considered to be on opposite ends of the spectrum.
    • Kid Rock + Ted Nugent fans: This intersection would be the most substantial of the three, but still not large. Both artists attract a politically conservative fanbase and are known for their outspoken advocacy for gun rights. A fan of one is more likely to also be a fan of the other than of Pearl Jam.
    • Pearl Jam + Kid Rock + Ted Nugent fans: This hypothetical intersection would likely be empty. No common musical style or political views unite these three artists.

AI can definitely be wrong. I was there. When Ed mentioned the R word, the boos were loud and prolonged.

” According to multiple reviews and fan accounts from their September 2024 concerts at Madison Square Garden, Pearl Jam was not booed when lead singer Eddie Vedder brought up political topics.
While Vedder is known for being outspoken on political issues, including giving "React, Respond" a new name for 2024—"Don't Complain, Vote"—the audience reactions described were overwhelmingly positive. A review in The Music Universe mentions the crowd "erupted in love" and rallied around a young boy Vedder spoke about, which occurred in the same show as his "Don't Complain, Vote" message. Another review noted that Vedder used the stage to advocate for pro-choice politicians and that his statements were "reinvigorating."
Some online forum discussions among fans did express mixed feelings about the number of covers or the specific song choices, including political ones, but there is no evidence of the band being booed for bringing up the Republican Party. The overall tone of the concert reviews and fan reactions was that the shows were "amazing" and "fire," and the crowd was "alive" and "singing passionately."

The overall tone of the concert reviews and fan reactions was that the shows were "amazing" and "fire," and the crowd was "alive" and "singing passionately."

post the clip. I'm sure it exists if it's real.

    Never mind! AI is fun!

what does a Venn diagram of Pearl Jam, Kid Rock and Ted Nugent fans look like?

Booing fans can be wrong too. How many people who booed at Uniondale ended up on the right side of that opinion? I see a pattern of unwavering patriotism getting in the way of seeing the shittiness of a US president.

So....Just asking for a friend, how aligned do you need to be politically with an entertainer to enjoy what they do?  I mean is it 100%?  50%?  Asking the experts here...
Theres no quantifiable number. But if you find something off putting or reprehensible, it makes sense to keep your distance. And if they personally do things you disagree with, its a turnoff. But also cognitive dissonance is real too.

I can't believe it was over 20 years ago that we (some of us and some that are long gone) were having this same debate on previous iterations of this forum, though over Bush instead of Trump...

It all seems pretty simple. The answer is you don't have to agree. You can disagree with everything about them. If an entertainer's views conflict with yours and you bail, that's OK, too. Life's too short for this level of scrutiny into this nonsense. PJ lost some fans over Bu$hleaguer. Probably not too many but I personally have no problem with someone bailing if that's what keeps 'em sane. I also have no problem with someone saying "I don't like it but I'm sticking around." Who cares? (though when I went to a vote for change show the guy in front of me screaming "vote for no fucking change" over and over was annoying; kinda wish he'd bailed; LOL).

My threshold specific to me. I think Metallica is pretty conservative (Hetfield, anyway) but it's not really a big part of what they do, so I don't care. Kid Rock? Not applicable since I never liked him for a second, but if I did like him, I'd probably have bailed by now because I find his schtick obnoxious. Maybe there's some people that don't want Trump dictatorship who still go to his shows; to each their own. I've got better things to lose sleep over.

Have at it, others also spoke about him getting “ heckled and booed.” Of course the only place people expect us to lie is on a politics forum.
