That should be the driver of what gets discussed and to what level of concern it is. Both the Hunter laptop and daughter shower accusations have been forwarded by partisan activists whose mission is to take down democrats. Despite some in the media alleging otherwise, the Hunter laptop still has suspicious metadata with documented date changes after a pro trump loyalist got his hands on the laptop. Project veritas is a far right hit group currently under investigation for the alleged theft of the Biden diary. It is conceivable that information in the diary has been altered.
In both of these cases, the information forwarded to the public consists of words, with no ability to verify. Regarding Ivanka and Donald, we have pictures and videos that have been public before trump ascended to the presidency, allowing us to view and independently form our own opinions.0 -

I think Al Franken is a prime example of what you are getting at here. Many of us, myself include, gave him WAY more slack than I would have had it been, say, Jim Jordan. I do it. I try not to. But I'm human, and we all have biases. The key is recognizing it and trying your best to be objective. I always ask myself "would this be a thing if (my guy/girl) did it?". There's no question that the shower thing I'm not as invested in as I would be had it been trump. "there must be some explanation", or "is it even true", whereas my opposite reaction easily could have been "big surprise!", and many people don't care if it's true or not, as long as it paints the enemy in a bad light.
there's many that think biden is a creep. I think he's just that uncle type that has weird boundaries but is completley harmless. no one really knows. And Biden would be in deep trouble with the base. Personally, the Ivanka thing might be slightly creepy, but I’ll agree there may have been some overreaction from the left. Right now, with the laptop and the daughter diary, all we have are unverified words from far right political hit organizations. With the laptop, there is even evidence the laptop was tampered with after recovered by the right wing repair person. With the diary, the political hit team recovering it is under investigation.
but Biden is not getting the Fifth Avenue treatment. He has perhaps a 70% approval rating from the left, very low from his own party , and much of the bad news of his presidency is not US based. Inflation, the Russia war, are international issues affecting the entire world. Domestic issues such as gun violence, there are simply not enough democrats in Washington to do anything meaningful.0 -
I trust tabloids just less than highly partisan news sources like Fox, both of whom have next to no ramifications (or shame) when stating falsehoods. If it gets shared with mainstream media who then choose to speak about it - that's the point where I pay attention to either. That said, some thoughts:
-I have questions on who authored the supposed quote, given the provenance is so sketchy. Even if the diary is hers, what about this entry? Republicans seem to have no problem fabricating lies, and they're certainly not without motive
-There's no mention of how old the author was when she was having showers with her dad. Is she talking about her infancy here? Not sure I care if he's bathing his two-year-old daughter, for example
-I find it interesting how the author switches from commas to semi-commas. Not sure why
-Even if they had some weird-ass closeness where they showered together longer than they ought to have, Biden's character does not suggest that kind of behaviour. While Trump fans would love that each of Trump's actions be graded in isolation and be given the benefit of the doubt - one's trustworthiness actually counts for something. Time after time, Trump has given his opponents reasons to be skeptical.
