On that note I was listening to the conservative talk radio down here in Central Texas. They are absolutely eating him alive, calling him a RINO, a Democrat etc. Calling to primary him with true patriots etc. The guy lost an eye in one of our wars and meets the traditional idea of a Republican, but thats just not as good as Bobear and MTG and the freedumb caucus. We are in for some dark times.
Suckers. Why would an alleged billionaire need the GOP/GQP/GOPPP to pay their legal expenses? Must be a whole slew of tapes at Roger Dodger Stoned’s or the Kremlin. Beyond comprehension but I’m sure the MAGA’s, Er deplorables, are fine with it.
The Republican Party has agreed to pay up to $1.6 million in legal bills for former president Donald Trump to help him fight investigations into his business practices in New York, according to Republican National Committee members and others briefed on the decision.
The party’s executive committee overwhelmingly approved the payments at a meeting this summer in Nashville, according to four members and others with knowledge of the situation who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe a private meeting of the executive committee.
That means the GOP’s commitment to pay Trump’s personal legal expenses could be more than 10 times higher than previously known.

That is odd. I have heard Crenshaw on the news shows a few times and go back and forth between "he seems like a reasonable republican" to "he's a fucking idiot".
I give him credit for calling those freedom caucus members out though.

A
new bill proposed in the Oklahoma state Legislature would limit how
slavery is taught in schools and ban teaching that "one race is the
unique oppressor" or "victim" in slavery's history.
Republican state Rep. Jim Olsen filed House Bill 2988 this month, and it has already caused a backlash from lawmakers and teachers.
The
bill prohibits state agencies and public school districts from placing
culpability on one race and teaching "that one race is the unique
oppressor" or "another race is the unique victim in the institution of
slavery.”
Further, the bills bans teaching that "America
has more culpability, in general than other nations for the institute of
slavery" or that the purpose for the founding of America was "the
initiation and perpetuation of slavery.”
Another
stipulation of the bill is to ban teaching that America “had slavery
more extensively and for a later period of time than other nations."
It also prohibits the use of the 1619 Project, a long form journalism endeavor by The New York Times that examined slavery's role in the founding of America.
Journalist
Nikole Hannah-Jones, who led the 1619 project, called the bill, and
others like it, “anti-history memory laws” that are “opposed to truth” on Twitter.

McConnell openly courts Manchin to leave Democrats, join GOP
By KEVIN FREKING and FARNOUSH AMIRI
Today
WASHINGTON (AP) — Mitch McConnell is done with subtleties. The Senate Republican leader is putting his party's courtship of Joe Manchin on full public display after the West Virginia Democrat's fractious split with the White House over the president’s big social and environmental spending package.
McConnell says Manchin “feels like a man alone” and if he were to switch parties, “he would be joining a lot of folks who have similar views on a whole range of issues.”
Whether Manchin is open to McConnell's appeal — he has consistently said he still sees himself as a Democrat — is uncertain. But it is clear that if he were to switch it would fundamentally alter the balance of power in Washington as well as seriously threaten Joe Biden's legislative prospects for the rest of his presidency.
McConnell dangled the prospect of Manchin retaining his prized Energy Committee chairmanship during an interview Wednesday and played up the West Virginian's growing distance from Democrats in his opposition to Biden's package.

Waddles like a duck, quacks like a duck and looks like a duck, might as well switch.
Sen. Joe Manchin's (D-W.Va.) political action committee saw a surge of contributions from corporate donors in the fall before his announcement that he would not support President Biden's Build Back Better social spending package.
Biden unveiled the $1.75 trillion Build Back Better Act in October.
According to CNBC's analysis of Federal Election Commission filings, Manchin's leadership PAC, Country Roads, received 36 donations from corporations in the last two months and raised close to $260,000 in that time period.
In November, Country Roads PAC received corporate contributions in the range of $2,500 to $5,000 from donors including American Express, Goldman Sachs, Lockheed Martin, UnitedHealth Group, Blue Cross Blue Shield and CNX Resources, a natural gas company, last month, according to the news outlet.

Since when have CEOs of major corporations been for tax increases and additional funding for the Department of Treasury for tax auditing and collections? Seems Joe cares more for corporations than he does for the children of WV. Sad that he calls himself a dem. 'Slow-motion insurrection': How GOP seizes election power
By NICHOLAS RICCARDI
In the weeks leading up to the deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, a handful of Americans — well-known politicians, obscure local bureaucrats — stood up to block then-President Donald Trump’s unprecedented attempt to overturn a free and fair vote of the American people.
In the year since, Trump-aligned Republicans have worked to clear the path for next time.
In battleground states and beyond, Republicans are taking hold of the once-overlooked machinery of elections. While the effort is incomplete and uneven, outside experts on democracy and Democrats are sounding alarms, warning that the United States is witnessing a “slow-motion insurrection” with a better chance of success than Trump’s failed power grab last year.
They point to a mounting list of evidence: Several candidates who deny Trump’s loss are running for offices that could have a key role in the election of the next president in 2024. In Michigan, the Republican Party is restocking members of obscure local boards that could block approval of an election. In Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, the GOP-controlled legislatures are backing open-ended “reviews” of the 2020 election, modeled on a deeply flawed look-back in Arizona. The efforts are poised to fuel disinformation and anger about the 2020 results for years to come.
All this comes as the Republican Party has become more aligned behind Trump, who has made denial of the 2020 results a litmus test for his support. Trump has praised the Jan. 6 rioters and backed primaries aimed at purging lawmakers who have crossed him. Sixteen GOP governors have signed laws making it more difficult to vote. An Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll showed that two-thirds of Republicans do not believe Democrat Joe Biden was legitimately elected as president.
The result, experts say, is that another baseless challenge to an election has become more likely, not less.
This story has been corrected to show that Stephen Richer is the Maricopa County recorder, not auditor; that the daylong hearing featuring Rudy Giuliani was in November 2020, not 2000; that Jim Marchant's lawsuit was aimed at overturning his own congressional loss; and to correct the spelling of Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger's last name.

Man who uttered ‘Let’s go Brandon’ during Biden call-in event mulls running for office By John Wagner December 30 at 6:54 PM EST An Oregon man who invoked a coded vulgar insult of President Biden during a Christmas Eve call-in event with the president and first lady is considering running for office and says he would welcome former president Donald Trump’s blessing. “I want to pray about it, see what God has for me,” Jared Schmeck said of his political ambitions during an interview this week with conservative Christian broadcaster Todd Starnes that focused on his use of the phrase “Let’s go Brandon.” “At the end of the day, I want [God’s] will for my life and the direction that it goes,” Schmeck added. “And I strongly believe that standing up is the right thing to do here as long as that message that I’m portraying is glorifying his name. And yeah, I’ll see where it goes.” “Something tells me if you do run, you’ll be invited to a certain place in Florida,” Starnes said, referring to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club, where the former president now lives. “I would be honored,” Schmeck replied. [How ‘Let’s go Brandon’ became an unofficial GOP slogan] Schmeck garnered national attention on Dec. 24 when he called in to an event hosted by the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). Biden and first lady Jill Biden spoke to parents and children during the event as NORAD tracked Santa’s progress around the globe. Schmeck, a father of four, ended his call-in by uttering the conservative catchphrase, “Let’s go Brandon,” prompting a startled Biden to say, “Let’s go Brandon, I agree.” The phrase is a stand-in for a cruder anti-Biden chant that has erupted at sports venues and rallies across the country. It stems from a reporter misinterpreting a chant after a NASCAR race. Since the Dec. 24 episode, Schmeck has been embraced by Trump allies, including former White House aide Stephen K. Bannon, who hosted Scheck as a guest on his podcast. During his appearance, Schmeck repeated Trump’s baseless claim that the 2020 election was “stolen.” “Donald Trump is my president, and he should still be president right now,” Schmeck told Bannon. “The election was 100 percent stolen. I just want to make that clear.”

An Oregon man who invoked a coded vulgar insult of President Biden during a Christmas Eve call-in event with the president and first lady is considering running for office and says he would welcome former president Donald Trump’s blessing.
“I want to pray about it, see what God has for me,” Jared Schmeck said of his political ambitions during an interview this week with conservative Christian broadcaster Todd Starnes that focused on his use of the phrase “Let’s go Brandon.”
“At the end of the day, I want [God’s] will for my life and the direction that it goes,” Schmeck added. “And I strongly believe that standing up is the right thing to do here as long as that message that I’m portraying is glorifying his name. And yeah, I’ll see where it goes.”
“Something tells me if you do run, you’ll be invited to a certain place in Florida,” Starnes said, referring to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club, where the former president now lives.
“I would be honored,” Schmeck replied.
[How ‘Let’s go Brandon’ became an unofficial GOP slogan]
Schmeck garnered national attention on Dec. 24 when he called in to an event hosted by the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). Biden and first lady Jill Biden spoke to parents and children during the event as NORAD tracked Santa’s progress around the globe.
Schmeck, a father of four, ended his call-in by uttering the conservative catchphrase, “Let’s go Brandon,” prompting a startled Biden to say, “Let’s go Brandon, I agree.”
The phrase is a stand-in for a cruder anti-Biden chant that has erupted at sports venues and rallies across the country. It stems from a reporter misinterpreting a chant after a NASCAR race.
Since the Dec. 24 episode, Schmeck has been embraced by Trump allies, including former White House aide Stephen K. Bannon, who hosted Scheck as a guest on his podcast. During his appearance, Schmeck repeated Trump’s baseless claim that the 2020 election was “stolen.”
“Donald Trump is my president, and he should still be president right now,” Schmeck told Bannon. “The election was 100 percent stolen. I just want to make that clear.”
