    Sounds perfect!
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

I hope if Ohana goes on that PJ plays two nights instead of Ed solo one night.  Ed is great, but I would always prefer to see the band.

People outside the state don’t seem to understand how serious the protocols are here. Now screaming on a ride would be difficult to enforce but when you see that you know at this moment, there is a zero point zero chance any concerts with a large audience massed together will happen anytime soon. Now whether that changes by September, that is the question but as stated previously, probably the safe thing is to presume it won’t and hope for the best.

If the event goes ahead it will be my first Ohana. Eddie is definitely the main draw to me over Pearl Jam. It wouldn’t be Ohana without Ed’s set.

This for sure. Eddie opening with a 10 song set for a 22-24 song set one night would be sick though! When they planned the California shows they were doing 5 Pearl Jam shows in one calendar year. Wonder if that would change like you said with a back to back Pearl Jam if they actually have the fest go on and it being the only shows in west coast this year.

I understand very much. My sister lives in Los Angeles. I just find it comical that they expect people not to scream on a ride. No chance I’m getting on guardians of the galaxy and not screaming like a girl. Same with splash mountain and a few others.

Variety is reporting that Coachella is being postponed for October 2021 to April 2022.  Not a good sign.

Agreed, but I’d note from the article a couple of things that may not necessarily mean Ohana will follow suit:  massive size (125k), and it never officially had October 2021 dates. Still, it’s not good news.

But it's also Coachella. Not only 125k people, which is huge, but 2 weekends, a cray amount of money to some artists (they usually bribe at least a few hard to get artists to play), and if they can't be at full capacity it's probably best to plan it for next year, regular time. That way it's highly highly likely to happen.

and on the other side of it, Outside Lands Festival moved from August to October 2021, so maybe a glimmer of hope?  not sure on crowd size for this festival as compared to Ohana.

You can't compare Coachella to Ohana. Coachella is 4x the size of Ohana and over two weekends. Benefit of Ohana is that it's smaller, one weekend, and it's on the beach where the constant cool breeze of late September winds will be a benefit to attendees.

I'm confident Ohana is going on, and sold out hotels at Dana Point confirm this to me.

Anyone have hotel or stay recommendations? Starting to look around in hopes that this happen and would be traveling from east coast with no knowledge of the area. Is the shuttle a reasonable option? Thinking maybe looking for something walking distance from the shuttle pick up/drop off?

Here is the link to information about shuttles: https://www.ohanafest.com/information#shuttles
I would suggest using  the Special Hotel Rates link under Information to search for hotel options.
This will be my third time going to Ohana (2017 & 2018) and I'm staying at this hotel that I found on booking.com
Best Western Plus Dana Point Inn by the Sea, which is walking distance, no shuttle. I did shuttle first year, but I only did the Saturday show (I drove down from the Pasadena area). And I stayed at a hotel walking distance in 2019 for 2 days of the festival. This year, I'll be there Friday evening and checking out on Monday.

The walking distance to the festival hotels are surely sold out or charging through the roof if any rooms are left.  There aren’t many places in San Clemente that are walking distance from the shuttle drop off, but a few may be Uberable.  I would suggest searching San Clemente availability.

Thanks @whitepants, walkable to the show would be perfect, but it looks like that Best Western is sold out. I guess I can keep checking. I found a hotel walkable to the shuttle stop, but would love to be closer

Not that it is comparable, but the Greek Theatre (6,000 capacity outdoor venue) in Los Angeles just announced a show for October 29.

No mention if the capacity will be reduced.

How well has the shuttle service run in the past? Wait to board at the shuttle lot, wait to board at concert, how often do they come by, etc?

The shuttle going to the venue is no problem.....the lines are pretty huge for the shuttle after the show, though they do have many busses waiting when the show ends.

Agree.  Also on the Friday night the service that operates the shuttles is still trying to figure out the right number of buses and drivers they need.  Usually by Saturday they’ve got it sorted.  There is a wait to get out of there, but after waiting 18 months for a show, what’s another half hour?

    Two other options:

Park in the venue (beach) parking lot.  This requires you get there before the first act comes on, and depending on where you park, the walk to the front gate can be up to 15 mins.  The parking fee is $20 if I recall correctly.

Uber to/from venue.  The "official" Uber lot gets pretty crowded after the night ends, but we have gotten a car right away by walking a block or two from the venue.

Shuttle to Ohana is a breeze, but after the show could be a nightmare queueing up. I'm embarrassed to admit that since I went solo to Ohana in 2017 (I'm a girl btw), I left the show while Eddie and Glen were doing a final song, and I ran to the shuttles. I was exhausted and I did not want to wait up to an hour, at 11pm to get on a shuttle for a 1.5 hour drive to Pasadena. It was easy getting onto the shuttle during the last several songs. But if you're with friends, hang back and stay for the entire show and then get in line for the shuttle, or drive and park.

@Lukeat911 OK so I booked a room at the Holiday in Express in San Clemente for now. I can cancel up to 9/20 for a full refund, I just wanted something to start even though I didn't get the show tix yet. This is near the shuttle stop, although I called the hotel and they said it is not really walkable to the shuttle stop. I figure we could take it to the show, but then always just uber back if needed.

I saw nothing even close to reasonable around the festival itself, so I figured being close to the shuttle was the next best thing. If anyone has better thoughts, please let me know!

Next is looking at flights. Assuming we stay in San Clemente as of now, is LAX or SD better? Looks like its smack dab in the middle of both.

We flew into John Wayne airport for a wedding a few years ago. I preferred it to LAX. Not as crowded and the TSA check in was really smooth.
