Seattle Has Fallen...

To all of you that get your "news & information" from Twitter, are you certain its official BLM demanding "white people give up their houses?" Funny, that Seattle's BLM website makes no mention but they do decry the resignation of the chief of police. Odd, don't you think? Also, that the twitter posts are all by white women, you know, those that Team Trump Treason has told that Sleepy Woke Joe & Kaaaaaaaaaamaaaaaaaaaaaala will place public housing in their suburban neighborhoods. Who are these people and do they really represent BLM? Are you scared yet? BOO! Anyone want to bet that these types of "demands" go away after the election?

August 11, 2020SEATTLE—Today, Black Lives Matter Seattle-King County released the following statement, which can be quoted in-full or in-part.
“Today’s news of the retirement of Chief Carmen Best is a loss.

Racism is racism.
We demand the Seattle City Council stop prioritizing performative action that solely suggests the appearance of change. We demand transparency and accountability for the series of actions and inactions that led to Chief Best’s resignation. And we demand a successor that serves Black Lives.”About Black Lives Matter Seattle-King County

If mobs are going to be walking through residential neighborhoods harassing the people that live there, those people might up and move. If you're a person who's financially-stable enough to just move whenever you want, who's going to stick around and be subjected to bullshit like this that goes unchecked?
A similar thing happened in Georgetown last week. They weren't complaining about gentrification. Just complaining in general...

What you say or how to respond when you can't explain or have an answer why BLM-King County doesn't list "give us your homes white people" as one of their demands or why they bemoan and publicly stated they think the retirement of the police chief is unfortunate.

As for when conservatives like this reference BLM, sure, I don't think any people associated with the BLM organization are calling up people and ordering them to march through white neighborhoods harassing the residents. I'll give ya that, and these Twitter-users might just see black people acting like this and immediately credit it to BLM, which may not be warranted. But you have to admit this overall "movement" has spawned this sort of stuff. If George Floyd wasn't killed, do you think there would be mobs of people doing this sort of stuff? Not just yelling and screaming in neighborhoods at night, but all of the stuff we've seen since the Floyd killing.

Any idea when this was? I didn't hear about anything last night, and it hasn't been on any local news that I've found. My guess is that this was some small splinter protest from last Friday. I do know there were protests last weekend in the CD opposing gentrification. As far as I can tell, these are neighborhood activists in a particular neighborhood. But I'm not certain who is organizing this stuff. What it looked like to me is that it was occurring in the CD or Central District (aka, "the black area of town") where a lot of redlining and gentrification has taken place. They've had complaints and concerns about losing their neighborhoods and businesses for years. Lots of new development. Land and home prices skyrocketed, and many have had to leave and move completely away from the city after being priced out. So much of their community and history in the city is being consumed as the boundaries of the CD have contracted, and white neighborhoods with new homes have sprung up. Some of it has been good - improved infrastructure, multiculturalism, etc... But many black owned business have been displaced, family homes torn down and newer, bigger homes or multifamily units have replaced them. Anyway, I don't think this is a random BLM thing where they're just running through traditional white neighborhoods demanding homes there. I think this is more of a sign of frustration with people encroaching on what has historically been theirs. I'm not commenting on the efficacy of the demonstration or the logic of their reasoning, just trying to understand who they are and what their message is, and trying to put it in context."I'll use the magic word - let's just shut the fuck up, please." As for when conservatives like this reference BLM, sure, I don't think any people associated with the BLM organization are calling up people and ordering them to march through white neighborhoods harassing the residents.
EDIT: Oops, forgot the link: https://www.capitolhillseattle.com/2016/01/gentrification-stops-here-mlk-march-splinter-group-targets-central-district-pot-shop/ - note that this was from January of 2016. I just wanted to show that this has been an ongoing issue for many years in that part of town.Post edited by jeffbr on"I'll use the magic word - let's just shut the fuck up, please." EV, 04/13/080 -

To the second bolded, kind of like Kamala (my imagining how Team Trump Treason says her name apparently acted as a trigger so I'll refrain this time) MAY NOT be eligible to be vice president? Or "lots of people are saying?"
What do you attribute Charlottesville to? White suppression? White death at the hands of police? White genocide? Do you think things would change for Black people if George Floyd hadn't been killed? Do you think there wouldn't be another Michael Brown or Bryona Taylor or 10, 30 or 100 more?

What are ya bringing up Charlottesville for? That was pretty cut-and-dry: racists marching and chanting "jews will not replace us." There's no justification for them doing it. On the other hand, I do see justification for protests in regard to Floyd and others killed in that manner. But just because protests are justified, the rest of the bullshit (looting, rioting, harassing neighborhood residents, etc.) is not justified.
Lastly, I don't think Trump questioning Harris' eligibility is warranted, since you're asking, because that has nothing to do with what we're discussing here. And I have no idea what you're talking about with Trump and her name pronunciation.

I bring up Charlottesville because I'd like to know what was the underlying reason for their protest. Freedom of speech? Just feeling some oats? Legitimate grievances? Now, compare that to the Twits you posted. Do they not have the right to protest? Exercise freedom of speech? Feel some oats? Or do they have legitimate grievances to air and bring attention to?
Lastly, you said "may not be warranted" very much like Kamala "may not be eligible." Like Team Trump Treason, you didn't outright say that the BLM wasn't behind or should be credited with the "white people give us your houses" protest from last night. Basically, its an attempt to delegitimize a legitimate movement, the legitimate movement being BLM. Again, I question who the "give us your houses white people" protesters are and who they're affiliated with, who organized them and how it came to be because it seems to me that it wasn't BLM, again, despite what your Twitterers would have you believe.

This is separate from the "white people give us your houses" question above, but what delegitimizes the movement for me is when BLM Chicago organizers went on the record the other day and said "I don't care if someone decides to loot a Gucci or a Macy's or a Nike store, because that makes sure that person eats. That makes sure that person has clothes. That is reparations. Anything they wanted to take, they can take it because these businesses have insurance." These were direct quotes by actual BLM organizers, not some random group of biased "twitterers."Do you agree with that person's take?

Again, I question who the "give us your houses white people" protesters are and who they're affiliated with, who organized them and how it came to be because it seems to me that it wasn't BLM, again, despite what your Twitterers would have you believe.
This is separate from the "white people give us your houses" question above, but what delegitimizes the movement for me is when BLM Chicago organizers went on the record the other day and said "I don't care if someone decides to loot a Gucci or a Macy's or a Nike store, because that makes sure that person eats. That makes sure that person has clothes. That is reparations. Anything they wanted to take, they can take it because these businesses have insurance." These were direct quotes by actual BLM organizers, not some random group of biased "twitterers."Do you agree with that person's take?0
