^ I listened to Drew Brees' comment and he said nothing wrong. He said he chooses to stand during the national anthem, and each time he does, he thinks of his grandfathers that served in WWII. Not sure how anyone can take offense to that. He said nothing negative about those who choose to take a knee or what it symbolizes. All he commented on was his choice to stand and why.
That's exactly right. And yet you can't even talk like that. Thinks about Grandfathes that fought in WWII & those who fought for civil rights, admited that the USA isnt perfect but a lot of us are always trying to make it better for ALL. How in the hell is that so offensive? Didn't tell them not to kneel down either. So he explains why he stands with his hand over his heart and what he thinks about. And he is told to shut up and sit down. We live in an upside down world.
Yet Colin Kapernick expresses his feelings, exercising his first amendment rights and loses his job and gets blacklisted from the NFL and has to sign an NDA as part of a settlement. Then is called a son of a bitch by Team Trump Treason at a public hate rally and has white fans publicly burning his jersey. You better believe the world is upside down. I hope his African American offensive lineman do a purposefully poor job of blocking for him so defensive players can sack his ass and whisper to him what they think about his comments as they get up slowly from the pile. I’m sure there’ll be some Vike and Hawk players happy to oblige. Poor Drew.
Very few people think that way. Some always will but most don't. And if they do it's inexcusable. I asked two of my black friends (one family) and one Mexican friend if any of them took offense to Brees’ comments today. None of them did. I guess some people do and some don’t. I can respect both decisions. After listening to it again, I see how some would take issue with his opening remark.

I gotta ask this.
If you think Kap was kicked out was Tebow kicked out too?

Tebow couldn't play He was protected for years at Florida but when he got to the NFL he couldn't keep up.
There is a long history of star college quarterbacks from big time programs i.e. Alabama, USC, Miami, etc that cant cut it in the NFL because they rarely were threatened or had to struggle on the field.

Kap couldn't play either.
Thanks for answering.
Something that always irked me was I watched Tebow play for the Broncos. Watched them win. Make it to the playoffs. Win a playoff game. He still got zero respect from people. It reminds me of the people saying that Jackson should change positions. He didn't and he is winning and no one cares now.
What Tebow and Kap both have in common is they had baggage and were less than great players so it was easy to make them go away.

That is my take.
I agree with you. If Patrick Mahomes wants to take a knee next year, he can, because he's that good and no team would care what he did. Kap was a backup when he started his protest. And similar to the circus that came along with Tebow, teams felt "Is this BACKUP worth all the trouble?" Apparently not. If a team thought Kap could help them win, he'd be on a team.
Yes, but Terry Bradshaw won 4 and there was a time when he wasn't good enough anymore. That's a pretty bad argument.
Kap wanted to start and make starter $. That certainly played a role. That and his talent didn't outweigh the $ and the "baggage". There is no doubt that the kneeling came into play as to whether or not he was in the NFL for some teams, but there were other important factors as well.

Its not a bad argument when someone else is claiming Tebow was good because the Broncos made the playoffs, as a comparison. So, Kap is about salary and talent and Tebow is about washing out?

2013 Kap goes to superbowl and declines from there on. 2016 Kap takes a knee. 2017 out of football 2011 tebow takes over starting position, wins games, wins playoff game. 2011 released by Broncos. 2012 plays backup for 2 games. 2013 Released by Jets.

At the end of the 2016 season. How many starting QBs would you rather have had than Kap? Maybe the top half of the QBs in the league? The man could play, maybe he wasn't in the top 15 of starting QBs, but he sure as hell was not comparable to Tebow. I wish I had done more to support Kap's cause back in 2016. He may not be able to start in today's NFL, but he could be a valuable #2. I hope he does get signed by a team, and I would love to have him as a member of the Chiefs.
I wish I was a sacrifice, but somehow still lived on.

That is a fair and questionable argument from people. He could be a #2 but that wasn't what he was after, he wanted a starting position and no one was going to give it to him.

I'll stop belaboring this after I type this, because I don't want to detract from the police brutality issue. However, it does emphasize the fact he was black-balled. In my opinion, he could have started for these teams in 2017. He would have been an upgrade over Mariota and Winston as well, but in 2017 they were still seen as players that hadn't hit their ceilings. Also, I can't put Trubisky in the list either since he was just drafted and they didn't know what they did (or didn't) have in him.

I'll move on after this too as that list seems off. Tannehill wasn't losing his job, the Jets and Browns were absolute messes and Denver had a draft in place to move in a different direction and Kap wasn't going to be it.

It probably is off, but I'm still convinced he could have started for a handful of teams. Even if he was only open to the starting job, teams still could have pursued him as a #2. I think eventually he would have taken that option.
I wish I was a sacrifice, but somehow still lived on.
I know that it might not belong here but Lebron James' comments about him going to High School w white people is being used out of context in racist meme's.
Maybe the NFL will have a chat with Snyder in D.C about his team name while they are being warm and fuzzy and cleaning everything up

A Cop Was Filmed Telling Armed White Men To Avoid Arrest "So We Don't Look Like We're Playing Favorites"
The video of the officer warning armed white men who were protecting a store has prompted a public apology from the chief of police in Salem, Oregon
The police chief in Salem, Oregon, has apologized after a viral video showed one of his officers telling a group of armed white men protecting a store to shelter inside to avoid being arrested for violating a curfew so officers "don't look like [they're] playing favorites."
"We're going to really enforce the citywide curfew shutdown so we can arrest anybody walking around," the unidentified officer tells the men. "My command wanted me to come talk to you guys and request that you guys secrete people inside the businesses or in your vehicles somewhere where it's not a violation ... so we don't look like we're playing favorites."

I just finished watching this. It’s so disturbing how so much of this parallels today’s injustices and the response by the leaders of the “free world.”

I watched that the other night. It was horrific here, all around, and I will never, ever forget it, from spark to flame.
Almost 30 years later...how much has changed? Improved?

Not a whole lot. It's pretty ironic the Attorney General was William Barr in 1992 and is AG again today. Bush's speech was just as ignorant as Trump's. Very frustrating.

the last 10 minutes or so were very uplifting. people coming together to help out, again that paralells today. we just can't be satisfied when all is cleaned up this time :(

By the way, cool avatar photo. Who is that? You? Someone else?
