Nikki? after campaigning on her being a birdbrain? I can't see that, not even from that moron.
Power, being a heartbeat away and the oval are all intoxicating. She’d sell her soul for that opportunity. She’s done if she’s not VP or in the cabinet. Her time is now, not in 4 years.
That is not entirely true. She could be playing the long game and betting Trump loses and goes to prison. Polling shows the only thing that will crater his support is if he becomes a convicted felon. She'd be set up well in '28 in that scenario.
POOTWH going to prison now or within 4 years has no bearing as she’s dropped out of the race. Four years from now she’s a “has been” and voters have moved on, particularly repub voters.
Sure it does, as long as she doesn't endorse him. Exit polls show her supporters and even Republicans in general would abandon Trump if he ever gets convicted. There's a definitely a lane there and she's one of the very few currently driving in it.

My money has been on Stefanik for a while now...
Mine's been on Tulski Gabbard. She's pro-Russia, loves to lash out at the Democratic Party, and is decent looking (which matters to Trump).
I think the pro Russia thing is one of the reasons she wont get it. Too obvious.

Stefanik at least looks like a regular republican to people not paying attention. Tulsi's a weirdo.

Okay look, y'all gonna be mad at me for saying this but I'm just saying what I think Trump is thinking.

No way it's Elise Stefanik.  She has gotten big since joining the House and Trump doesn't like that.  He's so vain, he doesn't want a chubby girl up there with him.  These are not my opinions, I'm putting myself in his thought process.  I think Noem is more likely

You’re assuming two things from what I can gather. One, that POOTWH will be convicted and if he is, drop out or be forced out before the election. The appeals process will run well past November and even if it’s expedited to SCOTUS, they’ll let him run and if elected, serve. There is no lane there.

Two, if Nikkki isn’t VP or the #2 on the ticket, she has no lane to the WH. There won’t be another election and the repub party convention calling a congress or whatever would have to happen if I’m wrong on point one, isn’t going to drop the #2 to make Nikkki the new #1. There is no lane there.

Nikkki’s time is now by negotiating her strident endorsement and campaigning  in exchange for the VP nod. If she doesn’t get it, she’s done and her White House dreams go “poof.”

That White House dream is a powerful one and one in which, if asked, you swallow your pride and serve a POS like POOTWH because, even still, at the end of the day, you both represent the same party. Even Chris would abandon his principles for that dream.

since everything is transactional with trump, maybe he will name judge cannon as his running mate.

Have you seen her recently? Been dieting and may have had some kind of surgery. She looks like a typical suburban housewife right now. I mean, she's not hot but definitely looks a lot better than a year or so ago when she had her kid.

I also think because she's from a blue state, Trump thinks that will appeal to moderates (despite the fact she completely moved to the looney tune maga right over the last 4 years).

Everything I saw recently must have been before that.  She was KB.

Nope. It's almost as if you did not read what I wrote. Surely a "long road" would not end in the short term, right?

Odds are he will not be tried and convicted before the election at this point. Her long game might be if he loses the election and then gets convicted she could be there to scoop up both her supporters who do not like Trump and the Trump supporters who've indicated they would abandon him if he ever was convicted.

She is basically the only person in that lane right now. And your boy Christie, but Haley's path would be a little easier since she didn't completely burn her bridges like he did.

I don’t see either of them as being relevant in four years, regardless if POOTWH is elected, loses the election, is convicted or not. In four years you’ve got youngkin and the up and comers yet to be named (Maggie three names, Matt gets off, on the far right crazy POOTWH train mold, other more “reasonable and palatable” like Don Jr., maybe Lara if she does okay with the RNC, there are others, the torch will have passed).

Without the VP slot, a high level cabinet position or another elected office, it’s difficult to be in the public eye and have a record to run on. Four years of obscurity doesn’t elevate your desirability. Just ask Chris. And in 4 more years, ‘Murica will be that much dumber.

    Nah.

Nikki Haley is 52 years old. You bet your ass she would put her hat in the ring again with the scenario I laid out. No doubt about it.

I know I didn't use any fancy shmancy nicknames or memes, but I think it's reasonable to imagine that is her thinking currently.

Nikki? after campaigning on her being a birdbrain?

Putting her hat in the ring and being the presumptive front runner are two completely different things. You’ve made her to be the party favorite in POOTWH’s absence. That’s crazy talk. She didn’t even fair well in her home state for crying out loud.

OK, yeah, its Biden vs Trump and, yeah, Biden is old (so is Trump) but in case anyone here needs a few good reasons to vote for Biden despite his age, here in part is what Dan Rather had to say today:

A thing called Project 2025 is the brainchild of the far-right Heritage Foundation. The plan is predicated on the belief that the president of the United States has — or should have — absolute power over the executive branch. That includes all of the Cabinet offices and the nonpartisan civil servants whose job security has never in modern times been tied to the party in power. Project 2025 would recruit tens of thousands of self-described “conservatives” to replace those civil servants. The plan would go into effect on Inauguration Day if Trump is elected.

Several constitutional crises were averted during his first term by people who put the country before the president’s demands — such as requiring complete loyalty to Trump, instead of to the Constitution. It’s likely that Trump has learned from his first term and will appoint even more personally and rabidly loyal people who will not stop him in similar situations.

Trump’s jingoistic disdain for our allies may lead him to pull out of NATO, one the most effective alliances in world history and one that has saved countless lives.

Trump’s love of fellow authoritarians like Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un should be a resounding alarm that he is a danger to our constitutional republic.

If he makes it back into the White House, he might never leave. That sounds hyperbolic, but it isn’t. He was the biggest perpetrator of the “big lie,” the false claim that he won in 2020. There is real concern he could suspend elections.

    ----------------

Who in their right mind really wants so suspend elections and have ANY one person (let alone a criminal and mad man) rule over this country as sole decision maker for the rest of their life?  No one here I'm sure (right?, lol), but I'll bet all of us know people who are OK with that.  Surely all of us have neighbors or co-worker who would go along with this insanity.

So get over it with Biden being old, and do the sensible thing: Either stay home on election day or vote for Biden, or go live in some other p.o.s. country with a dictator.

State of the Union 2024: Trump will ‘correct’ Biden’s address in live ‘play-by-play’

Former President Donald Trump announced that he will be fact-checking President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address.

Trump, frequently the target of live fact-checking by activists and outlets, decided to flip the script by declaring his intention to do the same to Biden. In his announcement over Truth Social, Trump made sure to note that he would be on the lookout for any statements regarding immigration and the legal cases against himself.

“I am pleased to inform you that tomorrow night we will be doing a LIVE, Play by Play, of Crooked Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address,” he said. “I will correct, in rapid response, any and all inaccurate Statements, especially pertaining to the Border and his Weaponization of the DOJ, FBI, A.G.s, and District Attorneys, to go after his Political Opponent, ME (something never done before in this Country!). We did this once before to tremendous success – Beating All Records. It is important for the Country to get the TRUTH!”

Trump did something similar last year, as alluded to in the post. In last year’s announcement, he was more direct in trolling Biden.

“If properly done, and if Joe has just a modestly good night, this speech has the opportunity to rival any of the World’s great orators, including, Lincoln, Washington, and, of course, the late, great, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Sir Winston Churchill,” he said at the time.

Trump and Biden are set for a rematch in November, with their respective primary opponents, Nikki Haley and Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) dropping out after Super Tuesday.

Both Biden and Trump scored immense victories in the contests, leaving them both to vie for the coveted vote of independents left by Haley and Phillips, as well as undecided voters.

    Nah.

Nikki Haley is 52 years old. You bet your ass she would put her hat in the ring again with the scenario I laid out. No doubt about it.

I know I didn't use any fancy shmancy nicknames or memes, but I think it's reasonable to imagine that is her thinking currently.

Putting her hat in the ring and being the presumptive front runner are two completely different things. You’ve made her to be the party favorite in POOTWH’s absence. That’s crazy talk. She didn’t even fair well in her home state for crying out loud.
Yeah, no. You might want to reread what I wrote.
Yea, your “long road” of 1 month to 4 years is not a viable path. Crazy talk. Nikkkii is either VP or she’s done, her WH dream goes “poof.”

What has a greater probability of happening? Nikkkii is the repub party nominee in 2028 or PJ plays backspace in it’s entirety in Philly in 2028?
Sure thing buddy. The issue is not what a guy who writes "pootwha" multiple times a day for years thinks would happen but what Nikkie Haley might be thinking. Since she's basically the only person in that lane right now, it's totally reasonable for that to be her thought process.

saying Nikki Haley is done after this is pretty silly. I mean, Trump ran for the reform party nomination in 1999 and had single digit support so dropped out. Biden ran for the dem nom in 1988 and lost. Both eventually became president. she's only 52. she has at least another 40 years to reach her goal. haha

if biden wants to appeal to shecky and out of time he will have to do the following:

    dress like q anon shamen
hit a capitol cop with a flagpole
take a dump on the floor in the rotunda
and try to get people to hang kamala harris

i don't see any of that happening, so he probably is not going to try to appeal to maga.

This Guardian op ed seems to indicate she has to play her cards very carefully:
    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/mar/06/will-nikki-haley-endorse-trump

Though Haley has “earned the votes and support of millions of Republican and conservative independent voters in her brief time in the spotlight”, Wilson said, she will soon “break their hearts for nothing.

“Reality has now set in for millions of Republican voters. They must choose between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. In all likelihood, Nikki Haley will make the wrong choice and back Trump.”

That endorsement, Wilson said, “will prove it was all for nothing. The abyss is calling, and she’s peering down into the darkness.”

“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Variously credited to Mark Twain or Edward Abbey.

Hmm...good question.  He did call Peter Doocy a "stupid son of a bitch" too.  I don't know.  My brain hurts.  Voting Trump now.
