With that in mind... Now go back to some of your own posts and read your comments about how awful Social programs are or how we can't afford things like Medicare 4 All or Higher Education?  We obviously can... it's a matter of priorities..

Maybe the good that can come out of this is more empathy for those that are less fortunate or those taken advantage of in our society.  (Like those working without healthcare or not making enough to afford overpriced healthcare insurance )
I prepare tax returns....it is kind of funny to see the people that I know are tRumpsters just beside themselves over getting their stimulus checks.

I can't tell you how many calls and emails I have received from people inquiring about those.

Why don't you support a person choosing whether they have gov't or employer based insurance?  Does what works for you have to work for me?

The idea that people who make that much (less than the threshold) care for Trump makes me laugh.  It certainly is not because of how he feels about them.  That income level person doesn't even exist to him outside of voting time.

We received paperwork back so should have the PPP funds shortly.  It is a relief and will allow for eight weeks of continued employment for some who likely would not have been able to stay based on how many of our customers extended terms or closed up during the lockdown.

I feel for all of the companies who have to wait for round two and hope they get it done a lot faster.

I have a classic story...elderly lady on medicare (since she was over 65) and her main income being social security, she also had some investments that she used to supplement her SS...every year she would come in my office to drop off her tax info and tell me how I was missing out if I wasn't listening to Glen Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, etc.  Obama was awful, etc.

On medicare, receiving social security....voting republican...it just doesn't get stupider

Insurance? Insurance.... How'about just healthcare without the "Insurance" part?  We've covered this and you seem to never get it.

Your care with your "Insurance" is the same care as someone with Medicare or any other "Insurance".. the difference is how we as a society pay for it.. Keeping it attached to a particular job is not a sustainable system, We've proved that..

You're confusing "Healthcare Insurance" with actual Healthcare... two different things..  and here lays the problem. People have been programmed to think they're one in the same.

If you're getting the same exact care as anyone else, then why would you prefer the type of system that does not cover a large portion of the society you live in?

If you're advocating for government hospitals,  you can count me out now. we have one example in that today... the VA.  I don't wish that care on anyone.

I know the difference between care and insurance.  Im not ignorant.  What I don't know is precisely what you're supporting.  Im supporting a person being able to choose between government insurance and private insurance.

I'm pretty much lost hope of going back to work any time soon or of getting any PPP, so I re-opened my on-line book presence.  Our  Post Office seem pretty safe and we take all the necessary precautions.  But the hassles of selling a book here and there now days is crazy- gloves, mask, hand sanitizer, waiting to go in when it's slow.  All for a few bucks.  But at least I don't feel like a worthless piece of shit without a job.  What a weird life this is!

The PPP is supposed to cover payroll for struggling businesses. It's not an investment tool for growing a business, it's an emergency measure to stay afloat.  A substantial amount of the businesses that took this loan never needed it, such a shame.

Yeah I agree.  It's a forgivable loan and you don't even have to treat the forgiveness as income.  So doubling down and making it a deduction seems over the top.  I mean we have to get SOME tax dollars in the door.

It makes perfect sense....I agree that the "forgivable loan" verbiage was confusing but I was shocked at the number of CPAs in some of our network groups that were convinced that the business could deduct payroll and not include the proceeds as income.  Ridiculous.

It is kind of amazing though that there is no repayment provision for businesses that were not affected by the virus.  I have an auto repair client that is having a kickass year so far.  People are having things done to their vehicles because they are off work and can do without them....they didn't expect this but now they have this PPP loan coming in on top of their sales.

They really should have had some sort of repayment provision based on revenues for March/April/May, etc.

As long as they used it to pay their people and they had no other way to pay them I’m good.

Well.....like many other "businesses" they likely had other ways to pay them.  I won't fault them for utilizing a program that they qualified for.  I got a PPP loan and arguably didn't need it.

The problem isn't so much with the businesses that obtained the loans...it's that the gov't left the repayment provisions so open ended that it's free money.
