I’m getting to a place right now in life where I’m starting to feel better when I respect everyone’s opinion, whether I agree or not. 

As for Gigaton - I don’t want to rank it. There’s something I truly dig about every PJ release. Some, more than others. Clairvoyants is quite a trip!

I’ve only got one spin of this under my belt so certainly not enough to form a solid opinion but could not agree more with the last paragraph beginning with “And to do it at this stage........ Although my wife and I didn’t get into Pj seriously until 2006(18 shows) we’ve made this comment many,many times. Most of the big classic rock acts we grew up with you really hoped after the 10-12 year mark that they would NOT put out another album and just go the nostalgia route. It’s all icing on the cake now that this band can put this much effort into it after almost 3 decades -offering up a new album and of course the incendiary live performances. Enjoy!

I’ve been saying to myself and a few others close to me that I think this is (one of) their masterpiece....their magnum opus.  It really does take you on a ride.  My wife immediately said upon first listen that it’s kinda like seeing a show (I felt the same way).  The sequencing on this one is such a key to its success.  Bravo, PJ!
And well stated RM.  I agree.  To do this at any point in their career is a feat, but do this 3 decades in is beyond expectation.  Truly love it.

OP - here’s to hoping it will eventually ‘click’ for you.  If not, too each their own.  No harm, no foul.

I was very excited to to crank this new album on my way home from work yesterday. It started out great with Who Ever Said and I was loving it up thorough Quick Escape then it quickly went downhill. I kept waiting for the next song to bring it back but that didn’t happen.  Ive listened to it now multiple times trying to like it but I just don’t. I personally put this as their worse album and it sounds more of an Ed solo album than a full band effort in my opinion. 

Wow, maybe I am old, but I have grown up with this band and love it.  Look at the liner notes and all you need to see is that it was created by all of them.  Now more than ever take into account social relevance.

At this stage music in general is keeping me going. I'm listening to all of it, all the freakin time ha ha. I have intentionally taken it easy on Gigaton, trying not to play it to death, because I want it to be with me for the long haul. Keep the faith!

I wasn't feeling it after the first few listens and then it just clicked. Same thing happened when No Code came out, I hated it other than a couple songs and then after a couple weeks it clicked and to this day it is still my favorite PJ album. I think Gigaton is fantastic and best album since Yield.

Way too soon to decide.  Every PJ record since Vitalogy takes me a month to digest. Not skipping any songs yet which is a good sign.

I mean, I only unfavor (I don't really want to say dislike) 3 songs in the entire PJ catalog - and even one of those I'm starting to come around to - so maybe my opinion means nothing, but Gigaton is a friggin' masterpiece.

I'm also glad people hate it.  Maybe it will start thinning the herd.

Be better than the "leave so I get a better number", "leave so I get better tickets to the MGS show" etc stuff.

I'm glad people think differently on the album because it shows a spectrum of thought and that fans aren't a one thought monolith that worships everything (or hate everything) by the altar of PJ. 

People liking The Fixer though, they are an exception. Sacrifice them to thin the herd.

Loved it at first, gets even better for me after several listens.  My only WTF was Buckle Up.  Tolerate it, don't love it.  I would have preferred about 15 seconds of Buckle Up acoustic guitar without drums with a quick transition to Of the Earth in the same light as Sabbath's 'Symptom of the universe'.  But if that is all that is wrong to me, that is great.  

These threads follow every release.  I remember the caustic debate and criticism over things like the the small solo/transition in Marker in the sand.  There were entire debates about it and with serious fuming. 

The Fixer?  That was another one.  

Aside donuts, I guess you can't satisfy everyone.
