We cracked up at Ed’s reaction to Bill saying “4 or 5 drummers”.
He seemed to rib him at a few things lol. “Bill, You sounded really surprised that this album was good!” Lol

This was a good listen.  The part where Bill dropped off and Ed and Jeff continued was so perfect.  It was so classy at the end when Bill was about to thank them and Ed turned it around and thanked Bill.  Nobody does that.

I got a kick out of Bill asking Ed when he thought the band sounded their best and Ed responded “yesterday “.  😀

  • Great podcast! Love the sports talk. I was a big Bulls fan and Ed’s story about him and Rodman flying out late to Vegas to watch a Jane’s Addiction show while the Bulls were in Seattle was great ...

That's funny, because as he was trying to remember I was like "how can he NOT remember that?"  I forget that we're all PJ freaks and can pick out songs from specific shows and certain banter and whatnot.  And he initially mixed up the acoustic set from 2003 as the show Bill was talking about.  After 1000 shows you have to assume that they do indeed run together a bit.

I really liked Ed's answer to when Bill said something about giving advice to his younger self.  Paraphrased "don't be so upset when your picture is on a billboard or a radio station uses your lyric. It's not a big deal"

I thought it was pretty amazing that Ed revealed that Neil Young bailed on doing the Rock HOF induction because he didn’t want to present in front of such a large audience.  If my memory is correct it was only put out that Neil was sick so he couldn’t appear and I never heard there was another reason for him not appearing.

To anyone on the fence about listening. Carve out some time and take the whole thing in. Simmons was very prepared for the interview. Ed was in good spirits. Jeff didnt say too much, could def tell he was on the phone. Ed must've had some kind of higher quality connection setup bc it sounded like he was there. Simmons got disconnected bc his earbuds lost power, so he ran and stole his daughters! Ed and Jeff just continued on without him! Simmons comes back and is like ahhh what did I miss! Overall nothing really political or real heavy. Topics were so broad from early 90's to wtf happened from 2010 to 2020, one record! I feel like I have read every interview I could find. Been to 50 ish shows. So, I've heard alot of rants, and stories. They unveiled some deep stuff. I was shocked they got into Nirvana. Simmons also really tried to press them on the mid 90's regarding a possible break up. They stonewalled them, but they Merkinball came up, and Eddie went thats right! We worked with Neil and he showed us how you make a record! Won't ruin it for everyone by going through all the tidbits, but it was loose and comprehensive. They did try to end a couple times, but like when your with a good friend either Ed or Simmons kept it going for at least another 15 minutes. I love how they didnt just go track by track.... once it got going it felt a lil like you were having a beer at a bar and were eavesdropping on Ed, Jeff, and Simmons doing an interview. Ed ribbing him was good btw. He was like Bill, you seemed surprised that the album was good, there was a little high pitch added to your voice like its actually GoOd. Very funny. Thats it! Listen up ladies and gents, 2+ hours of gold!

I believe Letterman said Neil swallowed his harmonica.
