Ohana Festival | Sea.Hear.Now Festival

If there’s anyone who is still somehow under some illusion that Ohana is going to happen, The Eagles shows at the Forum, which were scheduled for spring and then moved to late September, have been now rescheduled for October, 2021. Announced this afternoon by Live Nation. 

Don’t know about every state but there will be no concerts with large crowds in 2020 in California.

Uh yeah, that’s a lot of nonsense in this post right here. But of course, only in the times of Trump could discussion of factual and sensible information be considered doomsday. I see shows all over the world. In December, I was in Singapore and Tokyo for U2. I have zero hesitation at saying I will return to doing stuff like that at the very first possible moment where it is appropriate and safe. Unfortunately, that’s not going to be in September of this year.

And they sell a small fraction of the tickets they’d otherwise sell? And a pre assigned time to buy food and use the facilities? And a mask to wear except when eating? Doesn’t seem very festive.

The doctor running the UK Oxford vaccine trial said they should know by this June if that works. That will be most interesting news to follow.

No ,none of those things would work and that's why there will be NO festivals in California this year. And even if there is a vaccine it still needs testing...nothing going to be going on in this state this year. I can't imagine PJ says, "Hey, let's take a chance and go to Ohana"...

Not only does that not work from a virus perspective, it also doesn't work on an economic level.

"Sell a small fraction of the tickets they'd otherwise sell?" Yeah, good luck to promoters trying to hold an event like Ohana where they can only sell a small fraction of tickets. Did you even think that out before you wrote it? The bottom line is the economics of the concert industry do not allow for social distancing concerts by vastly reducing crowd size. Well, unless the ticket prices are raised by a commensurate amount.

Of course, that is not exactly what Sir John Bell, the doctor running the Oxford study, said. I watched the interview on Meet The Press. While yes, they could have a sense of efficacy by June, it's not like hundreds of millions of doses will suddenly materialize. They will have a good idea if they are on the right path by that time but there would still be a trip further down the road before the vaccine is ready for widespread distribution. Certainly, great news but again, not anything that has one iota of impact on Ohana being held in September.

I was one of the sensible hopefuls but I'm coming to the sad terms that this entire year, and probably the first several months of 2021, concerts are fucked by Covid-19. Could a miracle happen before Ohana is officially canceled? Yeah, miracles do happen. But, I await word for Ohana to be canceled. I know the boys are just as pissed and concerned as we all are.

There is a segment of the population that gets off on their doomsday porn thoughts and speculations, and I'm tired of them.

Let's wait and see what happens next.

Civil disobedience works.  California is starting to open up this week.  Hope is there.  Just a few more weeks of positive trends and strong support for a free world and it might get a green light.

California is opening up because the response here has been working and Newsom is doing a great job. There is no correlation between allowing curb side pickup at retailers and holding an event with 15,000 people. This is not a secret in the concert industry. It is widely accepted there will be no events in 2020. Here’s MGM CEO Bill Hornbuckle this week on the return of events in Vegas. This is someone responsible for booking thousands of events a year. 

Hornbuckle said big concerts, sporting events and professional fights are likely out of the question in the near term. “I think the idea that we're going to get 15,000 people in T-Mobile (Arena) for a concert anytime this year is probably a stretch,'' he said

When do we think Ohana will officially get cancelled? There’s no shot of this happening so the idea of them sitting on people’s money isn’t cool.

Ohana isn't till September 25th-27th so I'm guessing they will wait it out till the first week of September. They should make it right & cancel / refund this year's 2020 event soon, seeing that every other festival event has been cancelling all 2020 gatherings.
