I love it when a setlist can still surprise me. I'm not just talking about a rare song, but more when a song gets pulled out that I didn't see coming, and you turn to your buddy/partner/neighbor, and have a great moment. I think that's what I like best about seeing PJ over any other band- that anticipation between songs, where you're staring at the stage like a dog waiting to be fed.
  • I would never miss a song at a PJ concert. I don't drink at concerts as I'm there for the show and don't need alcohol to help me enjoy it.

One song I cannot stand is Last Kiss, but as PJNB said earlier in the thread, I wouldn't leave during it out of fear of missing something epic right after.
  • To go back to the original post, I want a lot of deep cuts. A few hits mixed in.

But most of all I want PJ to Drop the Leash!!!

McCready is incredible on Evenflow every single time. During Sirens he switches guitar midsong. The opening bass of Jeremy has popped every crowd that has ever heard it.

    Facts.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me......
  • St. Louis will be my 7th show. I've heard a lot of my truly favorite songs by them. I'm lucky to say I've heard Present Tense (my absolute favorite song by them) twice. At this point the band can basically play anything they want and I'll be excited. However, I know I'm in the minority when I say this, I don't need them playing a lot of Ten Era music. Ten has never been all that high on my favorite PJ album list. But especially now as someone who has been a fan for awhile, I mostly want to hear a good selection of songs from all their albums. Play songs from Riot Act, No Code, Binaural, Avocado too.

Unless I am near the front in GA, I have no problem taking a break to use the bathroom or even get food.  I can still hear the music.  2.5 hours is a long time and if you stop drinking to avoid bathroom breaks that means you are going 4-5 hours with food and bev.

At one show I went to get a hot dog and started to hear a song I hadn’t recognized and went back to my seat.  Then realized it was Future Days  and left again to get that hot dog.
    4-5 hours?
Treat it like a plane ride. If you’re flight is 2.5 hours do you stop drinking 2 hours before you board? I don’t. Pee right before you get on and most people don’t use the airplane bathrooms.
Take a pee break right before they are scheduled to take the stage most people won’t have to change anything else. I don’t like paying show beer prices, $9 for a coors light in a fake bottle isn’t my thing. But I’ll bring in a water bottle if they let me and that doesn’t change anything.
Do that many people really have a hard time not peeing for 2.5 hours?

I tried to get a beer during DTE at Fenway 1 in 2016. Almost missed Masters Of War. Never again.

Aside from a song request here and there, I hope they never take setlist advice from this board.
I hope they never visit this board at all. Pearl jam fans are the worst
From my experience overall, more fans are shitty than not.
I went to PJ20 with HIGH expectations of camaraderie. The shows were awesome of course. But with Very few exceptions, the people I came across were variations of asshole. From simple stuck up indifference to outright mean. Consequently, the next year in Atlanta (in my bottom 2 shows btw) other than one bitch in the bathroom line the rest of the 51,000+ there that crossed my path were awesome (so it isn't me)
fuck 'em if they can't take a joke

"what a long, strange trip it's been"
  • You have to assume it's somebody's first Pearl Jam show, and they want to hear the songs that made them fall in love with the band.

I personally love the crowd singing along like it's a huge party, and if happily sacrifice a couple of deep cuts if it means that happens.
  • The only thing I don’t wanna hear at a PJ show is Stone sing. Last Kiss, a close second but I won’t leave my seat if either happen.
    Peace,Love and Pearl Jam.

I just feel the energy.  Sometimes I piss and beer up during lightning bolt. Sometimes it's a lengthy rvm where you get some extra time with an encore... sometimes it's a random cover I dont care about. I try not to go during short songs or songs with crowd interaction

    One thing is for sure....

Keep on rockin in the free world jammers

If I have a two or three beers before I head in the venue there is probably a good chance I’ll use the bathroom.  This isn’t a movie.  You aren’t going to miss a plot line if you step out for five minutes.  Just a GD concert.

But then again, if I’m at a show by myself I’d leave whenever I hear the first notes of Alive so that I could beat traffic or not be stuck in a crowded subway.

I was in the can’t miss a note camp for a long time.  Not anymore.  Gonna drink what I want when I want.  If I want to eat chicken tenders during Even Flow, I’m going to eat chicken tenders (I’ve done that before).
