South Korea ne case numbers are plummeting. That's 2 countries in a row where it first started. Get a 3rd country and you have a PATTERN. This disease, while communicable, is again, not going to end humankind or put millions in danger. It doesnt even appear sustainable for long periods.

I for one am rooting against this virus and hope to see Italy's announcement of decreasing new cases in the coming week or two. If you are rooting for the virus so you can be "right" just get some help

The recurring trend that was broken with the last item on your list is containment. Containing the spread of each of those other infectious agents were colossal undertakings, sometimes made at great sacrifice, that largely took place well away from your eyes (Except the mosquito borne illnesses, WNV and Zika. No one contained those, but they can't spread person to person easily).

That critical containment step didn't happen here. SARS-CoV2 is undergoing unmonitored, unfettered community spread throughout the United States.

Hey dingus, your own numbers indicate a <1% hospitalization rate for the flu. COVID-19 may have a hospitalization rate as high as 20%, but let's conservatively slash that to 5%. At a similar rate of spread as the flu, 15 million illnesses would require 750,000 hospitalizations. At any given moment in the United States, less than half of that many hospital beds are available.

Exactly. My doctor did not give me any warning about large gatherings until this. Under 50, but had suprise blood clot on my brain last year. This is not anything like the flu. NOBODY knows how this virus will behave. Until we have an understanding of, really, anything about this virus, we just don't know. Fighting over % is a waste of energy. I was in very good physical condition, hiking mountains over 6k regularly, and then bam. We have no idea how vulnerable we all are.
