So the Madness has hit my squad and the Big Ten Hard. Good luck Oregon. Good luck Loyola. Go Zags (cause why not).

I've been trying to fall down musical rabbit holes but coming up empty. If anyone actually looks at this, suggestions are welcome.

This morning I was in the grocery store and heard the song "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and I'm not saying it was great but I love hearing songs that I haven't heard in a decade. You forget about them and then you can go right bak to the video and time period it came from. Music has a way of being a time capsule and that can be reassuring.

It's interesting of all the live material the band has ever put out I find myself always going back to Live on Two Legs. I love every PJ tour iteration and while 98 was my first show I will say my favorite tour is the current one, but there is something about that 98 release being on a single disc and just moving that I love.

After any tragedy involving fire arms I often wonder how a person like myself that knows nothing about guns (except how to shoot one - and I'm assuming not very well) could go and buy any number of them without any sort of training...I'm not a violent person, I have no police record but I do wonder if classes and appropriate knowledge of the device should be part of a prerequisite before it actually gets turned over into my hands. Combine that with the fact that an AR15 can be purchased for under 1000 dollars and it feels like an understatement that there is something wrong with that.

Go Loyola. I would love to see The Ramblers v The Zags for a National Title.

I've been digging into Prince and this video of him joining Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty for "While My Guitar Gently Weep" is amazing. His solo in the last two minutes is legendary.

I had a buddy tell me that he went a live show with a bubble and five people admitted in this outdoor venue. I know that would never work for high profile acts but the fact that some bands are able to get out there and make it work is great news. Here's hoping and holding on.

Listened to U2's All that You Can't Leave Behind a few times this morning and it's a wonderful album. If you're not in the mood for an uplifting listen "Beautiful Day" will turn you right off. If you are, it's bliss.

I was listening to Live on Two Legs (again) and man where do I sign up for a Yield Deluxe Reissue with this on vinyl?

How amazing would a Record Store Day EP/LP of the first seven songs of the 2013 Wrigley show be? Think of it: it's chill, it's 7 amazing songs (Release, Nothingman, Present Tense, Hold On, Low Light, Come Back and Elderly Woman) and we don't have it. It's so all to itself. Perfection.
98: St. Louis. 2000: Alpine. 2003: Chicago. 2006: Chicago Night 2, Milwaukee Night 1. 2007: Chicago (Lolla). 2009: Chicago 1 & 2. 2011: Alpine 1 & 2. 2013: Chicago & LA Night 1. 2016: Chicago 1 & 2. 2018: Chicago 1 & 2.
Am I the only one that listens to bootlegs of the shows I've been to less than random shows? I've been to some good shows, but I go to them the least.
98: St. Louis. 2000: Alpine. 2003: Chicago. 2006: Chicago Night 2, Milwaukee Night 1. 2007: Chicago (Lolla). 2009: Chicago 1 & 2. 2011: Alpine 1 & 2. 2013: Chicago & LA Night 1. 2016: Chicago 1 & 2. 2018: Chicago 1 & 2.
I watched Hyde Park (first of the live streams I've watched and it was amazing), just wonderful to see a concert experience. I need to watch more live footage of all the bands I love. At least it's a substitute.
98: St. Louis. 2000: Alpine. 2003: Chicago. 2006: Chicago Night 2, Milwaukee Night 1. 2007: Chicago (Lolla). 2009: Chicago 1 & 2. 2011: Alpine 1 & 2. 2013: Chicago & LA Night 1. 2016: Chicago 1 & 2. 2018: Chicago 1 & 2.
I started going through all the shows I've attended and was pleasantly surprised by Lolla 07. The crowd was killer and the band was on fire. I remember "Why Go" setting off the largest crowd sing along I've ever been a part of (not sure if it still holds but it does sound like it on the boot). I revisited the first four shows I attended and I'm going to keep at it.

Chicago 09 Night 2, is hands down my favorite boot of shows that I've to.
98: St. Louis. 2000: Alpine. 2003: Chicago. 2006: Chicago Night 2, Milwaukee Night 1. 2007: Chicago (Lolla). 2009: Chicago 1 & 2. 2011: Alpine 1 & 2. 2013: Chicago & LA Night 1. 2016: Chicago 1 & 2. 2018: Chicago 1 & 2.
I often wonder if this Apollo show will be a fest show? An hour long set? Or an all out special PJ show? It will be special no matter what, just the venue but the actual set list and flow of the show.
98: St. Louis. 2000: Alpine. 2003: Chicago. 2006: Chicago Night 2, Milwaukee Night 1. 2007: Chicago (Lolla). 2009: Chicago 1 & 2. 2011: Alpine 1 & 2. 2013: Chicago & LA Night 1. 2016: Chicago 1 & 2. 2018: Chicago 1 & 2.
First big spring rain this morning, nothing better than windows open and rain coming from the outside.

"Dance of the Clairvoyants" is a song that just has legs. I still love it.

Art has a way of intensifying things; a great song, an amazing story, a painting - they can change a moment and if you're lucky a day. Looks like we'll likely be waiting until 2022 for shows, that's okay. Just is the way it is.
98: St. Louis. 2000: Alpine. 2003: Chicago. 2006: Chicago Night 2, Milwaukee Night 1. 2007: Chicago (Lolla). 2009: Chicago 1 & 2. 2011: Alpine 1 & 2. 2013: Chicago & LA Night 1. 2016: Chicago 1 & 2. 2018: Chicago 1 & 2.
My daughter loves baking videos and they're one of the coolest things on YouTube (aside from live music).

Chances of a Pearl Jam live stream? And how much would you pay?

I've been lucky enough to see the band all five times at Wrigley and what amazes is me how good the 2018 shows were. I thought they paled into comparison to the 2016s and I don't think so. The band was tight as ever and the setlists were excellent.
98: St. Louis. 2000: Alpine. 2003: Chicago. 2006: Chicago Night 2, Milwaukee Night 1. 2007: Chicago (Lolla). 2009: Chicago 1 & 2. 2011: Alpine 1 & 2. 2013: Chicago & LA Night 1. 2016: Chicago 1 & 2. 2018: Chicago 1 & 2.
Listening to some songs this morning I was startled at how relevant "Glorified G" and "W.M.A." still are, even more so...I don't know. I was jarred by "W.M.A.'s" lyrics.
98: St. Louis. 2000: Alpine. 2003: Chicago. 2006: Chicago Night 2, Milwaukee Night 1. 2007: Chicago (Lolla). 2009: Chicago 1 & 2. 2011: Alpine 1 & 2. 2013: Chicago & LA Night 1. 2016: Chicago 1 & 2. 2018: Chicago 1 & 2.
It's funny listening to boots of shows you were at that you thought were amazing and revisit them and they don't have the same pop. Then some of the shows you loved still rock. Some you thought were okay are amazing. It's weird. Perspective.
98: St. Louis. 2000: Alpine. 2003: Chicago. 2006: Chicago Night 2, Milwaukee Night 1. 2007: Chicago (Lolla). 2009: Chicago 1 & 2. 2011: Alpine 1 & 2. 2013: Chicago & LA Night 1. 2016: Chicago 1 & 2. 2018: Chicago 1 & 2.
So I acknowledge The Beatles, The Stones, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd are all more iconic and "important" bands that Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers but I rarely listen to them and listen to Petty almost on par with Springsteen & Dylan (only Pearl Jam gets more play time). I had the hard core learning phase on all of those bands but after that they're occasionally nice but I rarely dip in for a whole album.

On top of many albums turning 30 this year, Rage Against the Machines "Evil Empire" turns 25. Time flies. And good music never loses relevance.

"Black" from Benaroya might be the best performance of any Pearl Jam song live ever. Yes, that is beyond bold but man oh man....
