Outside of MSG and Baltimore, did anyone who selected ONLY Reserved as their first choice get shut out? Maybe the percentages were just for our first choices? Just trying to put some logic to this all. The whole best available aspect might have caused more confusion (or at least it isn't obvious how it worked). I am guessing the lottery worked as follows (if anyone knows or guesses otherwise please correct):
For a given show, the #1 picks are taken and assigned random numbers. Assume that 400 people selected GA, 800 selected Res and 500 selected Best available. Also assume that the following availability: 300 GAs and 700 Res.
Random numbers are selected and matched to each entries selection. If the person selected GA, then they get GA and there's two less tickets available to everyone else (same for Res). For BA, I assume the entry first checks if there is a GA available and if it isn't then it checks if Reserved is available (or vice versa in the rare instance GA is available but not res).
Since there are more people requesting tickets than tickets available people with high lottery numbers won't win. On the other hand if there were less people than tickets available for pick #1 then the lottery goes to Pick #2 (with the same concept). Not sure everyone gets that the lower priority picks have worse odds (so even though your first Res pick might have a 99% chance, your 4th pick might be 0%)
6/26/98 & 6/27/98 - Alpine Valley, 10/9/00 - Allstate Arena - Rosemont, IL 6/18/2003 - United Center, 5/16/2006 - United Center, 5/17/2006 - United Center (7th row center, caught Eddie's pick), 6/29/2006 - Summerfest with Tom Petty, 8/24/2009 - United Center, 7/19/2013 - Wrigley Field, 10/3/2014 - St Louis, 10/17/2014 - Moline (GA), 10/20/2014 - Milwaukee, 5/14/2015 - Pete Townshend/EV, 8/20/16 & 8/22/16 Wrigley Field Part 2&3, 8/18/18 & 8/20/18 Wrigley Parts 4 & 5, 9/18/2022 - St Louis
I only selected reserved Baltimore. Shut out. Bullshit. Ten club member since 2000
How long you have been a member isn't a factor.
What are the factors?
Getting your name drawn for tickets was random. The only thing that seniority gets you is better seats in the reserved section AFTER your name is randomly drawn. Seniority has zero effect on GA tickets.
Thanks, explained well. I got reserved tickets to Nashville. Last show was 9-17-95 New Orleans.
That's a long time. I was at that show in New Orleans, my first one with the Ramones, the pit was true mosh. It rained. Never forget it.
New Orleans 1995, I remember the rain before the concert, and the field was covered in a blue tarp. When concert folks entered Tad Gormley stadium, they went dashing for the stage and a rodie on the intercom said, "do not use the blue tarp, as a giant slip n slide." And what did concert folks do? Use the blue tarp as a giant slip n slide. Some slide for like 20 yards. Great time. The mosh pit went to the 40 yard line. Impressive.
I took a swing for MSG GA. I didn’t win. It’s ok. Would have been really cool. There are sone venues you just want to experience. Makes the lottery a good thing. I only put GA simply because travel8ng that far and seeing seat chart up to the rafters made me hesitate.
MSG IS AMAZING VENUE , PJ from any seat in the building is not a let down !!! I sat behind the stage for PJ and TOD and I had the view of the band. The faces of the crowd as Chris belted out the opening lyrics to War Pigs was unforgettable !!
Put in for Baltimore only, Reserved only, and got shut out. guess that is going to be a pretty tough ticket.

That is all i asked for, not standing all day and night. I was chosen for: Denver - Res Nashville - Res St. Louis - Res
My wife was chosen for: Nashville - Res
Every request we put in, we won.
What was your priority order for your 3 picks?
You mean which Cities? I just chose Reserved.
Nashville St. Louis Denver
Just blindly chose by date of show. I really didnt even put thought into priority of City.

I put in for reserved both nights in Oakland and got both. I only requested those two shows and they were my 1 & 2 priority. I was able to get tickets in Seattle in 2018 & Chicago in 2016. The last time I was denied tickets was in 2013 where I put my priority as seated then GA and I got GA. I thought it was all based off seniority but reading some comments that was not the case. I feel as fan club members we should have priority.

I put in for reserved only for Denver and Baltimore, ADA/reserved for MSG. I got tix for Baltimore but didn’t get Denver or MSG. My priority order was Baltimore/Denver/MSG. Was really surprised out of the 3 I got Baltimore and not Denver. I figured MSG was a crap shoot bc of demand and since I need ADA seats for that one.

It has to be hard to live in a city and not get in through the lottery. That’s a tough one. I would love to hit a string of shows but logistically it doesn’t pan out with life and work. I took a swing for MSG GA. I didn’t win. It’s ok. Would have been really cool. There are sone venues you just want to experience. Makes the lottery a good thing. I only put GA simply because travel8ng that far and seeing seat chart up to the rafters made me hesitate. I hope for a fall tour second leg closer to h9me and better luck in the lottery. Some of my favorite all time bands are on tour this year. It’s pretty exciting. PJ, RATM, RHCP, TOOL. 2020 looks pretty awesome to me.
im confused about all the adulation msg gets. I’m from here and I went out of my way to try for the one and only show within a four hour drive of here. I banked on the actual odds being 20% better in Balt. Big bonus, that arena is half the size of msg. I prioritized seeing the band, not that ugly rotunda.
I’ve never been. Grew up watching LZ Song Remains the Same a ton. Would be cool to see your fav band playing in a venue with that much history.
Fair point, a lot of arenas and stadiums from the 70s have been torn down. The Garden still stands, although it’s been completely gutted since then.

Does it really matter if it’s been gutted? The current MSG is actually the 4th version of Madison Square Garden.
