I feel like Simmons would have specifically mentioned if that was Pearl Jam...as a way to hype the album. Every week he starts the podcast by saying "But first, our friends, from Pearl Jam...." and plays that same old Corduroy performance every time. If he was going to play new Pearl Jam, you'd think he'd at least mention that an album release date has been set, etc.
Im overreacting but the “first some..new music”  line might be a hint?

they even sell a “but first...pearl jam” shirt
I hear ya, but I feel he would have said "new music from Pearl Jam." I guess we'll see. I'm not sure what to think of that snippet if it is Pearl Jam.
Yeah.  Sounded like something David Lee Roth threw in the trash in 1983..
    LOL
Your boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer

If that's PJ, and it's a big if, the people who have been wanting them to be more experimental, you're getting your wish. And, if that's PJ, there is no doubt in my mind that Jeff wrote it.

I agree, but I wouldn't have expected a worldwide, Instagram-fueled cover scavenger hunt last week either so who knows?

They revealed the name of "Backspacer" through naming a turtle, without saying it was the title of the album.

    That's industry standard these days.

But the turtle thing, great point.

I guess that's true. There was a time where Pearl Jam shunned those industry standards. But that was then.

I don’t think it’s that far fetched.  He’s a huge PJ guy and quasi celebrity.

Judd Apatow was listening to Lightning Bolt in his car  months before it was released.  He mentioned it, can’t remember where “I’m actually listening to the new PJ record, I probably shouldn’t say that.”

Simmons probably has a copy of the single because he has connections to the band.

They've been back doing music videos since 2003.

And wouldn't call an ARG an "industry standard" to shun or abide to.

I mean they covered only 11 cities. Not like it was an Beyonce/Taylor Swift PR machine behind the effort.

1998. Other than Binaural, every album since Yield has a music video....if people count the videos from the Riot Act promo DVD as actual music videos...which I guess they are since they're posted on YouTube as such.

I meant, classic music video with the band in it. And it should have said 2002.

I Am Mine was a "music video". It aired on MTV and ZTV here. Alot even for a short while. It was even labeled "Hit of the week" the week it was released. It was on the show "Tryck till" where you pressed thumbs up and thumbs down on new music videos, Gustaf from MANDO DIAO pressed "thumbs down" on I am Mine.

Our once-great MTV was long gone by that time. I would've never seen any of those videos if not for the free promo DVD I got with Riot Act, which was a nice little free nugget actually. Interviews with the band (except Eddie) and three music videos.

PJ fans are fucking insane. We are dissecting and judging a 10 second clip that nobody even knows if it’s actually PJ?  WTF
