This is a real stretch but I’ll throw it out there... Bill Simmons usually starts his podcast by saying “but first our friends from Pearl Jam” and playing the intro to a live version of Corduroy. On his Thursday 1/16 podcast he says at the 2 minute mark “but first some new music” and plays this funky new wave sounding tune with a strong bass line and synthesizers, which I think lines up with some rumors of how the album will sound.
Could it be a snippet of the new single? It does not sound like something I would expect from Pearl Jam, so it’s probably not. But just thought I’d throw it out there to see what others think.

Highly, highly doubt that was PJ. The drums kinda sounded programmed. Not that it’s out of the realm of possibility that PJ might experiment with something like that, but I just don’t think that snippet on Simmons was PJ. But I’ve been wrong before.
For some reason when I hear that it’s got Matt Fukin’ Cameron written all over it.
Music: Cameron? lyrics: Vedder ?
I was thinking the same thing.

I feel like Simmons would have specifically mentioned if that was Pearl Jam...as a way to hype the album. Every week he starts the podcast by saying "But first, our friends, from Pearl Jam...." and plays that same old Corduroy performance every time. If he was going to play new Pearl Jam, you'd think he'd at least mention that an album release date has been set, etc.

Im overreacting but the “first some..new music” line might be a hint?

they even sell a “but first...pearl jam” shirt
I hear ya, but I feel he would have said "new music from Pearl Jam." I guess we'll see. I'm not sure what to think of that snippet if it is Pearl Jam.

Yeah. Sounded like something David Lee Roth threw in the trash in 1983..

Why would he have said that?
It makes perfect sense he wouldn't drop the bannd's name. The song isn't out yet. Nothing has been heard of it. I bet him not mentioning the title was the whole idea and making a few people who listen to his podcast would ask themselves "IS THIS THE GOD OF THUNDERS FROM SEATTLE'S NEW SINGLE" ???
A tease.
The song premieres on Jan 21 does it not.

You're the one posting it on YouTube and speculating. If the single come out on Jan 21st (which I didn't even know, so thanks), can't ya wait four days to find out?

It's a discussion forum about Pearl Jam -- so do you really feel you need to ask that question?
