Happy played with Shawn at the show at The Barn too...
    they were so good together!!

I missed those shows. Was bummed then and more so now. Saw Happy open for Shawn at soutgate house prior to that though. And then happy opening for brad in Indy I think.

Love Happy too. Wish these guys had gotten together more.

    Sad day.
  • I still listen to Brad - Shame all the time. Saw them a few times on the tour behind Interiors. I bought anything he sang on. Great talent, very sad.

This is the most awful Seattle singer death for me. I honestly can believe it. This guy deserved so much more in life. I’m thankful for the gift he shared and I got to enjoy.

Just terrible, terrible news. Brad is easily my favorite PJ “side project” if you can really call them that. They were good enough to stand on their own. Shawn was an amazing talent and voice. :frowning:

This show was July 19th 2014 at The Barn (it's home to The Vineyard at Porter Central winery) in Sunbury, Ohio
Shawn's college roommate owns The Barn & Winery and holds a few shows there every summer.
There were maybe 50 people there and Happy Chichester of Howlin' Maggie played a set right before Shawn.
Happy joined Shawn on the keyboard for his encore.
Here's the setlist from the show:

I also saw BRAD here in Columbus at The LC in October of 2010...
They opened for Band Of Horses!!

This is horrible news. Of all the PJ side projects, Brad is one of my favorites. I remember buying the Shame CD at a local record store when I was stationed in Japan in the early 90's right when it came out. I had read a snippet about it in Rolling Stone and knew I had to get it. I played it for months on end, and still listen to it regularly, as it was a soundtrack to many memories from those days. A few weeks ago, I don't remember exactly where, but I was in a shop somewhere and heard "20th Century" come on, and I involuntarily started bobbing my head and tapping my fingers along to it and had a big smile on my face. I also had the pleasure of meeting Jeremy Toback at one of his solo shows in the late 90's, where there must have been less than 20 people, and I was just shocked at how such a band of talented people could go so unnoticed outside of Stone's obvious connection to Pearl Jam. I'm gonna go spin some Brad vinyl right now...

    R.I.P. Shawn

One of the most under-appreciated artists of all time. A staggering voice. A wonderful song writer. And a lovely chap. And by all accounts he died because in America healthcare is only for those that can afford it. For that reason I'm finding his death more tragic than Kurt, Layne or Chris at this very moment.

What in the actual...? Why? I love Brad. Pigeonhead is very strong too. Shawn’s voice is what makes both of those bands stand out. Especially Shame. Buttercup is an all-timer for me. I’m gutted.

Drove by Kurt's overflowing memorial park bench today.  This hurts worse.  Sorry for his family, and many Seattle music friends, and Stone, and myself.  Loved this music. Fire's Comin' Down playing now.
