It's the rich poor education divide in Sweden where the taxes are regressive.  Fucking bass ackward, that's for sure.  But that's his problem.  Im focused on making my country better.  Glass houses and all..
I think the majority of people focus on wanting to make their country better, nothing wrong with that...

The US will be fine, in 2 or 6 years... ;)

Exactly... besides, the individual states allowed to have their own plan for things like the environment?  And other such things...Let's see if Bloomfield follows through on his 500 million dollar plan to close coal plants, then who is going to pay for the green energy projects.  And I hope they do not look at Ontario's Green Energy plan...we were paying through the nose for hydro...then the liberal government borrowed a ton and lowered rates...that was done a year before an election...vote buying...the problem starting next year the rates will start to go up and up, unless our year-old government has a plan...without a plan some say our hydro bills will double by 2025.

A consortium of private businesses guaranteed a 25 year purchase of electricity from a solar farm, removing one old coal fired plant from the grid. The US currently has one off shore wind farm. Public/private investment in clean energy production is the future. Time to acknowledge that, invest and move on. Stop “digging” coal.

It needs to happen over time and those coal miners need to be retrained in solar panel and wind tower production, installation and maintenance, or other types of jobs. Incentives should be offered to wind and solar companies to locate and hire those affected in coal producing areas, if possible. However, there’s always winners and losers in a “free” market.

I hope so.  But if Trump wins in 2020, I think we’re heading toward authoritarianism. Like actual shutting down CNN and locking up political opponents.

I think that’s a key difference among people that don’t like Trump; most think this is a blip.  To the point they might vote third or stay home...particularly given how awful the leading challenger is looking.  Trump is probably going to win in 2020 and, I kinda think it’s over for America as we know it after that.

Ontario has 0 coal plants...be closed for a while, we have a mix of Nuclear, Green Energy and hydro-electric and Natural Gas...we are doing our part to eliminate carbon, I suspect at some point Natural gas will be eliminated from the electric grid, but never as home heating fuel.

They are all out west...Alberta had a leftist government, look at all their coal mines, BC leftist government mines and ships coal overseas...

Yup.  We subsidized those green energy companies...hopefully never again.  Windmill production is not long term jobs.  We had a manufacturer of the turbine towers and they are out of business, the manufacturer of the blades are now out of business.  Once the subsidies end they'll find other suckers to subsidize them...

It's the rich poor education divide in Sweden where the taxes are regressive.  Fucking bass ackward, that's for sure.  But that's his problem.  Im focused on making my country better.  Glass houses and all..
I think the majority of people focus on wanting to make their country better, nothing wrong with that...

The US will be fine, in 2 or 6 years... ;)
Agreed.  We had one bump in the road and then things will be a ok.
Exactly... besides, the individual states allowed to have their own plan for things like the environment?
I agree with you but what happens to all the people in the coal industry once it gets shut down?  I would imagine whole towns would cease to exist.
    Awesome ideas bud!

More info on how greener energy technologies such as wind and solar have the potential to replace coal jobs with high paying jobs. It seems that some of the fastest growing job markets are in renewable energy.

So when is BC going to add solar and wind...from what I can tell your power is produced by hydro-electric dams...they are not all that great for the environment...they cause problems to environment, eco-systems, wildlife migration patterns, loss of habitat for wildlife.

And when is BC going to stop coal mining?

Our community college has programs specifically for people wanting to get in the wind industry.  It has been very popular and there are a ton of windmills across the Texas plains now and more being put up every day.  It’s a little weird seeing all of those red lights flashing in unison at night, but kind of cool too.  We do still rely majorly on coal and natural gas, but there has been an increase of solar companies moving in, so hopefully more will take hold.

As the article says, solar can be a good option for some of the areas devastated by the effects of coal mines, given that there often aren’t a lot of other options for them.

When the Kentucky Coal Mining Museum switched to solar power as they did a couple years ago, I think thats a pretty good indicator green energy is here to stay.........

Not in Canada.  If you lived here, you'd have natural gas...

But it mentioned by some on the left that we need to switch home heating sources...but with what? and especially at the affordability of gas...and it provides warmth in the winter.

Former Vice President Joe Biden leads the majorities of likely Iowa Democratic caucus participants with numbers showing a very tight race for second place, according to a new CNN/Des Moines Register/Mediacom poll.

    Commenting on Biden:

Buddah: We're not gonna win by playing it safe, or promising a return to normal. We are were we are because normal broke.

Queen E: There are people who are ready for big structural change in this country

Sane-ders: I understand that there are some well intentioned democrats and candidates who believe that the best way forward is a middle ground strategy. That antagonizes no one. That stands up to nobody. And that changes nothing. In my view, that approach is not just bad public policy but it is a failed political strategy
