The dem house needs to do its job and stop being pussies. If they don’t, they’ve abdicated their authority and the American people deserve what they get. Call CYA Barr, Rosenstein, Team Mueller to testify and begin hearings. Fuck them because if you (the general you) don’t, you fuck yourselves. Sucks don’t it?

So he gets impeached, what does that accomplish? The Senate will never remove him from office.

Aren't they better served focusing on beating him in 2020?

They are better served by going after Barr so Orange Sunshine's devout following doesn't riot in the streets, and all his misdeeds would still be exposed.
It puts the repubs on record for having to defend Team Trump Treason. Lyndsey Graham on the senate floor explaining how those 10 avenues of obstruction doesn’t add up to obstruction of justice. Also, Team Mueller didn’t find or couldn’t prove conspiracy, which is it? And 14 other continuing investigations spawned by Team Mueller. Defend that repubs.

To not hold impeachment hearings and a floor vote because the senate won’t convict and remove is line an NFC team deciding not to play the 4th quarter against TB12 and the patriots because they’re going to lose. I’d rather go down fighting and being on the right side of history rather than walking away into the locker room with time on the clock.
they've all been on record the last two years defending him. if that's the rationale, it won't make a lick of difference in the court of public opinion. in 30 years no one will even remember mitch mcconnell's name except political historians, so what does 'having them on record' really do? partisanship is at an all time high in the US, so that will not sway any votes. not now, and not in subsequent elections.
None of them are on the floor of the senate defending Team Trump Treason’s raping of the constitution. Before the press? Sure. The floor of the senate is different. And what comes out during televised congressional hearings and live feeds of senate speeches matters to people. Not the Team Trump Treason voter or quitters but people who still care. They’re worth fighting for and they’re the ones who’ll make the difference. I’m not willing to cede that to Team Trump Treason. Plus, impeachment is something that never happened to the black guy and I expect that Team Trump Treason would nuke Nancy’s district as a result.

    Why so negative?
not negative. just realistic. I'm not against impeachment, I'm for it. I just think that doing it for "putting the repubs on record" is kind of a weak reason. mainly because I don't think it will matter to the electorate. All anyone will remember is if he gets impeached or not, not how people voted. people forgive voting down party lines. it's what's normal now.

I think you have to impeach because it's the right thing to do, not out of some revenge tactic. But either way, seems we agree.
Swing voters decide every election. So the political question to impeachment is whether dems will pick up swing voters as a result of it. And right now it’s probably too early to tell.
yes, they do. I'd like to know if there's been any studies on how much political news the typical swing voter ingests in a fed election cycle. more than your partisan, or less?

It’s not about a “revenge tactic,” or sour grapes about losing an election. It’s about the rule of law and holding Team Trump Treason accountable to it as a co equal branch of government. Seems the Team Trump Treason Administration’s tactics of refusing subpoenas is convincing more dems to impeach. Growing a spine can take time.

Really non-voters decide every election. The real test is seeing if all those Dems/liberals actually get their apathetic asses to the polling stations to make sure Trump doesn't win again.

Mueller Told A.G. Barr That His Remarks Failed To Capture 'Context, Nature and Substance Of Probe' in a letter sent to Barr in March, according to WaPo

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/mueller-complained-that-barrs-letter-did-not-capture-context-of-trump-probe/2019/04/30/d3c8fdb6-6b7b-11e9-a66d-a82d3f3d96d5_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.90e66999a965

Not sure which post to put this in so I'm putting in the 3 appropriate ones.

Can't wait to see Mueller and Barr testify.

EDIT TO ADD: NYT has an article that details Mueller's extreme displeasure with the tactics Barr was taking. He wanted his letter to Barr included in the release.

    Committee wants Mueller next week.

    That was good.

10AM - Barr testifies Senate Committee. Supposed to testify for House Committee this week. And Mueller has been moved up to next week.
Mueller just couldn't hold back anymore & we now know how pissed he is at Barr's characterization about his report. And he continued to lie after a letter & phone call from Mueller.

He lied to the Senate Committee when he testified about his report on the Mueller probe. Crist and Van Hollen - straight up lied. I wonder if there will be any reading of the report to Barr this week? I'd like for him to be read his rights, TBH.

no. c'mon. opens with 2 wapo reporters(funded by wapo) and wapo secured 12 readers months in advance, ready to go when it was released. 36 chapters(am into ch 15, still in vol I). very well done so far. readers make it compelling to listen to. Its written in an easily understandable language. I assumed it would be a very dry document. Holy fuckballs, it aint dry.
report released on the 18th. audiobook released on the 20th. 19 hrs long......

I wasn't aware that they were in the Report.

At least Barr is under oath. I want to hear why he lied. I am sure he is prepared to filibuster. He is already speaking in tongues. Gonna be one of those annoying hearings. Lyndsey is a lawyer, he should be ashamed of himself. McCain would smack him upside the head.

I'm listening to "The Mueller Report" on Scribd. Check it out: https://www.scribd.com/audiobook/402026493

Is it Hillary doing the reading?
    That was good.

10AM - Barr testifies Senate Committee. Supposed to testify for House Committee this week. And Mueller has been moved up to next week.
Mueller just couldn't hold back anymore & we now know how pissed he is at Barr's characterization about his report. And he continued to lie after a letter & phone call from Mueller.

He lied to the Senate Committee when he testified about his report on the Mueller probe. Crist and Van Hollen - straight up lied. I wonder if there will be any reading of the report to Barr this week? I'd like for him to be read his rights, TBH.

lyndsey, introducing the hearing. bringing strock and page into it and commenting  on clinton investigation into the server.

McCain would smack him upside the head.
they arent. girlie man is using his time to puff her chest out.
    I was being facetious.

Now would be a great time to roll that tape of Lyndsey saying there doesn't need to be an underlying crime to charge obstruction.

They ought to remove the "Hon" before CYA Barr's name on his name plate. Dianne is gettign after it and Barr couldn't answer a yes/no question as it relates to obstruction.

Patrick Leahy, I love him and he has my grandpa's name, go get 'em. Make him stutter, or better yet, lie under oath. :prayer:

Really non-voters decide every election. The real test is seeing if all those Dems/liberals actually get their apathetic asses to the polling stations to make sure Trump doesn't win again.
Also true. If we had 90%+ turnout there would be few republicans in office anywhere.

yes, they do. I'd like to know if there's been any studies on how much political news the typical swing voter ingests in a fed election cycle. more than your partisan, or less?
Good question. It comes across as though they’ll respond to widespread stories, but only the superficial aspects. You see this in the week or two up to elections with October surprises. Willie Horton, swift boating, Comey letter, etc. It seems like if the candidate can resolve the swing voter uncertainty with a feeling of confidence, that helps. I this happened for Obama in 08 as the economy tanked in October. He picked up points on McCain because, I think, he projected confidence in being able to handle the sh*tshow. McCain came across as a bit lost.

Then what? More bluster and tough talk amounting to a hill of beans?
Or the House Oversight and Reform Committee Chair Elijah Cummings holds him in contempt of congress which he explicitly states he will do.

From Politico on April 30th (https://www.politico.com/story/2019/04/30/elijah-cummings-carl-kline-prison-1295146):
House Oversight and Reform Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings is threatening fines or even imprisonment for a former White House official if he refuses to satisfactorily answer questions when he appears for a closed-door interview on Wednesday.

There is no tool in our toolbox that we should not explore,” Cummings (D-Md.) told reporters on Tuesday, warning that he could move to hold former White House Personnel Security Director Carl Kline in contempt of Congress.

The committee is investigating the White House security clearance process, including allegations from a whistleblower that Kline overruled career national security officials in approving security clearance applications that were initially denied.

Some administration officials who applied for clearances were flagged for potential foreign influence risks, according to Tricia Newbold, who has worked at the White House for nearly 20 years under administrations of both parties. Newbold also alleged that Kline retaliated against her when she raised concerns about the clearance process.

The White House has permitted Kline to only answer general questions about the security clearance process, something Cummings said the committee has already been briefed on. White House Counsel Pat Cipollone has also demanded that a lawyer from his office be present during Kline’s transcribed interview. Cummings initially rejected that demand, but said he would allow it for Wednesday’s interview in the interest of fairness.

“I’m going to make it clear — and my staff will make it clear — that if he comes in there tomorrow and if all he wants to talk about is process, which we already know, and does not want to talk about his actions with regard to retaliation and what happened in these cases, then we will move forward to take whatever action we have to take to enforce our subpoena,” Cummings told POLITICO.

“I’m going to make that clear: don’t waste my time,” Cummings added. “We can’t afford to have any stalling.”

Cummings issued a subpoena for Kline to testify about those allegations last week, but the White House urged him to skip the deposition, prompting Cummings to threaten to hold Kline in contempt. The chairman briefly backed off his contempt threat over the weekend when he agreed to a request from the Republican side of the committee for Kline to appear for an interview.

But Kline’s Wednesday appearance is likely the last straw for Cummings.

“We will do everything in our power to enforce our subpoena,” Cummings said. “I refuse to be in a situation where we are unable to use every tool that we have in our toolbox to do that.”

According to Cummings, the White House has not turned over any documents in response to the committee’s requests for information about the security clearance process. The panel began investigating the issue after reports emerged that President Donald Trump ordered his then-chief of staff to issue a security clearance for Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, despite unfavorable recommendations from career national security officials.

The White House has refused to turn over information to Congress on a number of fronts, and the president has personally filed lawsuits in an effort to block congressional subpoenas for his financial records.

Edit: While this article is about one specific subpoena, it's a pretty obvious conclusion to make that Cummings would take any uncooperative subpoena request identically.

not negative. just realistic.

Really non-voters decide every election. The real test is seeing if all those Dems/liberals actually get their apathetic asses to the polling stations to make sure Trump doesn't win again.
Also true. If we had 90%+ turnout there would be few republicans in office anywhere.

LMFAO...your 2 party system is ineffective and appears unwilling to govern with any sense of responsibility...Let me know how your 1 party system will work.  Anyone who wants the same party in the office makes me LMFAO...the one-party system has been tried and is a huge failure.
what does any of this have anything to do with what he said? it is statistically proven that when voter turnout is high, it overwhelmingly benefits democrats/liberals.

It would not become a one-party system...it would shift the parties left.

Is there anyone who has read/listened to the report who doesn't think some sort of action should be taken? The only people I've heard say the report is nothing are those who have either only read the 4 page summary from Barr, read an opinion piece from a columnist or heard a TV personality provide their commentary. This is mostly aimed at the non-left leaning members on here. Most of the smack talk I've seen from a few haven't actually read any of the report for themselves.
    It's a hopeless situation...

Get a healthy 6-8 parties in there. Instead of this crazy-religious-fuck-the-people-right and a-little-bit-less-crazy-religious-fuck-the-people-right

Get a green party. Get a left party. get some Social Democrats.

we have that in canada, and it does diversify things, but it can make it difficult to get anything done. but there is a line of thinking that the less that is done, the less potential for damage.

This won't surprise anyone on here who knows my stance but I'm about half way finished reading the Team Mueller report and what I'm finding striking is that in key areas, such as the Team Trump Treason Tower meeting, much information is either redacted (grand jury or ongoing investigation) and/or Team Mueller was unable to confirm or follow up on discrepiences due to encryption and/or Team Trump Treason "couldn't recall" in his written answers. Team Trump Treason "doesn't recall" discussing the watering down of the GOP platform plank as it related to Ukraine, yet better relations with putin on the ritz was one of his foreign policy priorities, specifically as it related to Ukrain and yet, Team Trump Treason "doesn't recall." The other striking thing is how deep they all were. It wasn't one or two "chance" meetings with Russians. It was repeated meetings, solicited by Russians, attended by those on Team Trump Treason's campaign, even after they were warned. Something stinks and it isn't "full exonoration."

There needs to be congressional hearings with Team Mueller testifying as well as Don, Jr. (who wasn't under oath but had been informed that lying to congrees was a criminal offense when he testified before the Senate intelligence committee) and others regarding key aspects of the case, many of which are still under investigation and/or the full extent are unknown because of redactions. CYA Barr is obstructing justice as Kamala Harris' line of questioning illustrates as he didn't even bother to review the underlying evidence. Damn right some action should be taken.

    “There was no collusion.”

    “I don’t know any Russians.”

    “I have nothing to hide.”

“I’ll sit down and talk to anyone.”

“We do everything by the book.”

“Only the guilty plea the fifth.”

    “Very legal, very cool.”

    “Fully exonerated.”

Follow the money, from Russia with love and a PTape, all the way to impeachment.
