You realize that you are mostly preaching to the choir.

The fact that people are posting facts about the midterms and how there are certain groups of people that have been awakened due to Trump's election is in no way indicative of not realizing he is a threat. People are applauding the wave of people, diverse people, who won in the midterms.

Trump is an asshole. He is also a master manipulator. Most people are quite aware of that and the fact that if the Democrats do not run someone who is a beloved figure in America in 2020 that Trump could win again due to the electoral college. But when we see an overwhelming amount of people voting in a midterm election and see red states or red stalwarts in states turning blue, we are hopeful.

The one group of people that have NEVER been fooled or taken Trump's danger for granted are black women. They have been the saving grace for the Democratic party in many ways. White women went 49/49 Dem/Rep this midterm. This is nationwide. There are differences in that percentage in different parts of the country.

Putting Trump down is a necessity. The man does such outrageous things that people need to vent about it and through venting we work through it. He is a despicable person. He is also the most powerful person in the world and he knows it. His behavior at the press conference where you were saying he was 'gangsta' was a petulant angry man who knew that he was going to have to answer to people for the first time in his life. Democrats have power to have a check on Trump and the corruption in the government and they need to do it in a measured way so as not to overreach. This is understood. We got it. We are able to be happy and laugh while still understanding that he is packing the courts and ruining the environment and our relationships with other countries and making people question the very institutions that enable this country to exist. He is dangerous and he has a cult of people who believe everything that he says. There are people who are scared that an invasion is coming with small pox and leprosy. They really, really believe it. And believe everything he says and only him. It's scary. There are also people who love the money they are making due to his loosening banking regulations and environmental regulations and the multi trillion dollar tax cut for the rich. They will just hold their nose and vote for him.

No one on here, as far as I know, is a member of the DNC. We can vote, educate ourselves, try to influence people who we know and possibly some people will become active in community or state politics. There is nothing that we can do about the cult people, the rich people and those who don't pay attention and either just vote Republican or don't vote at all.

Why don't you understand that we understand that? People can celebrate and laugh. This is a 24/7 'pay attention to me' President. It is exhausting. When there is something to laugh about or be hopeful about then people will talk about it.

If you want to laugh with tears running down your face in 2020 if Trump wins, good on you. There is not a damn thing that most of us can do about the entire freaking country. We understand. Stop thinking we are stupid. Please.

Ive never said anyone is stupid, not sure why you keep saying that.

But, i do believe we must understand why we lost so we dont lose again, and from what i can tell most democrats still haven't figured it out, i sure hope the party did. I've just pointed out the election wasn't lost due to sexism, as you have claimed, or racism as most claim, or putin as some like to think. Ive presented numbers to back that up. Plain and simple. No name calling, no stereotyping, yet i'm public enemy here all of the sudden.

I've decided to shake up and challenge the AMT echo chamber, shoot me.

Sorry, I don't own a gun and I would never shoot anyone.

Trump is a racist and a sexist. His cult members (the base) are the same, at least when they got whipped up in a mob mentality, but there is nothing wrong with calling out racism and sexism when it is blatant. There are other things going on that can be discussed without the 2020 election being brought up. You may never have called anyone stupid but your desire to 'stir things up' isn't a productive debate. You just keep saying that people don't understand why Trump won and I said that most people did and understand he is a threat. That doesn't mean that he isn't a racist, sexist, petulant baby.

It is frustrating to have a debate with you, which is an enjoyable endeavor, because you keep saying the same thing so the conversation cannot progress because you think that no one understands why Trump won if they say racist. That isn't true. I would love to debate with you but you don't want to. You seem to want to grade our papers and give us all D's for not understanding. There is nothing I can say that will make you believe that I do understand his danger.

    So proceed.

So precisely what policy or set of policies do you think the Democrats need to jettison or take up in order to capture back the the votes lost in 2016? For all of your ranting and raving, I don't believe you've offered a solution.  Let's have a debate about that rather than the 2016 exit numbers and Canadians.

I dont see general elections as wonky position battles, that is a loser... its a popularity contest about bumper sticker slogans, broad ideals, and energized voters... K.I.S.S..... so that means the #1 policy is the candidate, they need a GREAT one with charm and natural political talent, that can connect with the working class... has to be sincere and authentic

This whole thing boils down to 3 states in my opinion... PA, MI, WI... i'm not sure anywhere else matters... so once you have the right candidate you likely need to gear your bumper sticker to issues that region

Modern America is terrified and fearful... they instinctively crave stregth and security... Trump knows this and has already boxed out the dems and paints them as weak every day and positions himself as the strong leader willing to take tough stances to protect the homeland... gotta figure that out, it's a huge problem

Have to reconnect with working class voters, especially in the purple midwest... trump again is already beating dems to the punch there with steel and auto tariffs, that is clearly politically targeted for the rust belt and 2020... you might not like the approach, but the working class communities in those areas LOVE IT, because he has postioned himself as fighting for them and putting America first... so they better come up with a way to counter that, because he has postioned himself as the champion of the working class, specifically that region

And for god's sake, stop talking about deplorables clinging to guns & religion

I think it pretty much boils down to that... i'm sure we'll break it down more moving forward

If your case is accurate,  then it's pathetic and sad.  I refuse to believe that this carnival barker is the new norm and Democrats should throw away "wonky" positions because some are too lazy to think about the actual policies.  If that's the future, no fucking thanks.  The great leaders of this country had ideas,  policies and a positive message.  Trump barely has any of those.  I would never want the POTUS I support to be progressive Trump.  A majority of the country is better than that.  We must be better than that.

This is Obama's statement in full - he understood Trumpism before it was a thing. The 6 words were taken out of context to demonize him - but he was stating exactly the same problem that Trump latched on to.

You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest,
the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. So it's not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations. [Obama]

So, now that we all know that we understand what the problem is. How are you going to make life better for those people. Not by flipping the house - what is your bumper sticker, saying, and make sure you don't let them down because everyone has done so. The jobs aren't coming back; although Trump lies to them that they are. So what do you propose the Democrats do to make life better for these people so they do not retreat into this stance. Bumper stickers and MAGA hits are great. But they will realize that they aren't getting any jobs and that their crops and products are slipping away due to tariffs that make it impossible for them to secure buyers.

Tell us what the answer is.

Its always been a popularity contest mostly decided by the more talented candidate, the natural pendulum/zeitgeist of the moment, and bumper stickers...

JFK the dem won because he looked better on TV in a debate... Nixon the repub won because LBJ quit and the Vietnam War... Carter the dem beat Ford because of the Nixon stench... Reagan, a charismatic actor, with a simple slogan of government is bad and Make America Great Again beat Carter when the economy stalled and Iran hostage crisis... Dukakis hopped on a tank and Willie Horton killed someone... Clinton beat HW because he was a young natural talent, rock star type politician playing the sax on MTV, and the repubs had the POTUS for 12 years... Bush beat Gore because the dems had the office for 8 years and Gore was a stiff who couldnt carry his home state during a strong economy... Kerry was a huge stiff... Obama is a rockstar, the economy tanks, war, and a bumper sticker slogan of "Hope"... natural born campaigner with a billion dollar smile...  and the frankly sets the modern high water mark... 2016... reality star... media obsessed/savvy... enterainer... bumper sticker slogans MAGA, Build The Wall, stiff dem candidate follwing 8 years of dem controlled POTUS, who happened to be a star... Hillary following Obama was like me trying to follow up Pearl Jam on a stage, it was awful

Yeah, i'm sorry, i don't see general POTUS elections as being decided by wonk,  not in the TV era... if your general platform and message doesnt fit on a bumper sticker, you're in trouble... it's all entertainment, you need a star, or the pendulum, or both... hopefully the pendulum is there for ys in 2020 and we have a great candidate

Name recognition is also a HUGE deal when it comes to POTUS...

Some of you will not like me saying it, but i think Bernie wins the nomination

If your case is accurate,  then it's pathetic and sad.  I refuse to believe that this carnival barker is the new norm and Democrats should throw away "wonky" positions because some are too lazy to think about the actual policies.  If that's the future, no fucking thanks.  The great leaders of this country had ideas,  policies and a positive message.  Trump barely has any of those.  I would never want the POTUS I support to be progressive Trump.  A majority of the country is better than that.  We must be better than that.

What was Clinton’s campaign slogan and what did the press dub him. Bernie? You been smokin’ bro?

Bill was a rock star... and repubs had the oval for 12... charming southerner... played the sax on mtv...  and somewhat admitted to dancing with mary... with a stalled economy (i think) and a GOP POTUS that raised taxes? no slogan needed

    Read. My. Lips.

    Maybe

I always called him Slick Willy... is that what the press dubbed him? I honestly don't remember

Then he stuck his Willie in a 20something intern. Smooth move, ex lax.

You've lost all credibility. Seriously, that was just a horrible post.

You were asked to come up with some ideas and you are posting about sticking Willies.

And Bernie would be eaten alive. Completely wrong direction. Not even a consideration.
