So I'm not from the U.S, but I glance at what's happening from time to time. What does this all mean for the presidency of Donald Trump now?
it means Trump no longer has a rubber stamp in congress for things like repealing health care and tax breaks for the wealthy.

The House can also legally demand documents like tax returns from Trump and others in his administration.  They can also launch investigations and load committees.

On a larger picture, there was a lot of democrat gains in crucial states that led to the Trump victory of 2016.  It is difficult to extrapolate the 2018 results to 2020, but its a very good sign (if you don't like Trump).

On the other hand.  Some Trump-backed governors and senators won, which also displays he still has a lot of clout and can throw his weight around, and is still a force to be reckoned with.
Correct. The one thing I hate is that nothing is going to get done in this country over the next two years.
I'm not sure this is true or not.  My perception is that Trump doesn't give a shit about policy, so long as it lets him market.  He has no actual belief system.  The one exception is immigration/minorities.  He will stand fast on this issue, but no others really.  They may actually get some stuff done if he can strong arm a handful of Senators.
I hope I am wrong but I don't see a compromise between both houses of congress.

You mean like the 8 years of Obama? I’d love for Pelosi to step before the cameras and announce, “our number one priority over the next two years is to see Team Trump Treason fail.”
    six years, no?

Trump wants Pelosi because he knows her name is poison and helps the GOP in 2020

Democrats will fuck this up, no doubt
Probably.  Many seem to want to hand it to her like they did with Hillary.  But there are some that want a change.
Someone like Tim Ryan from Ohio would be great for speaker, but yes they’ll fuck it up and hand it to Nancy.

I'm for Team Planet and dems are generally more environmental than reps so overall it was possible a tiny Team Planet win in the House.  Unfortunately, dem Jessica Morse lost her bid to replace long time conservative, pro Trump, Planet hater Tom McClintock, so in the case, Team Planet took a hit.  That leaves me with a lot of unhappiness this morning.  :frowning:

This is my favorite type of government given the possible results.  I love gridlock.  Lock it down.

I remember when Starbucks had a petition to get govt going, I refused to sign, she couldn't understand why.  The next two years are going to be great.  Although I am definitely right sided on most things the GOP the last two years has been scared of their own shadows.  I hope no legislation gets passed.

Another 1st not mentioned - WA-8 went Dem for the first time ever, so WA flipped one of the House seats. Elected Dr. Kim Schrier, a local pediatrician, who ran on a healthcare reform platform. First time candidate going up against an established GOP candidate that had run (and lost) 3 previous state-wide elections. She will be the only female doctor in Congress. About time the old boys club of doctors gets a new perspective.

Right, and R's elected a sexual assaulting racist president. Which is worse, being unable to win against ignorant morons or being the one to vote for the pimp and assaulter? I guess I'd walk away thankful I didn't have to represent such a group.

(psst...most probably don't know what "DFL" means)

    As for the poster:
    • Starting off with the hyperbolic "IQ lower than a salamander" sort of sucks the legitimacy out of that one.  Age-motivated at best.  Ethnicity motivated at worst.
    • I don't know much about Menendez.
    • The other two are Muslims from Minnesota and as far as I can tell they are being accused of being anti-semetic and/or America-hating because they are Muslims.  Nothing but a xenophobic smear. That said, Keith Ellison (right) was just elected secretary of state and was accused of abusing a former girlfriend.

Just saw this, any truth to it? I only know about Menendez.

C'mon Mcgruff! You're better than this. Nice bunch of rips on us MN folk though I see. We were the only state that will probably see a DFL house seat go R, and maybe 2 with one still too close to call.

That's all I needed to know.  Thanks for explaining the two on the right in an educated manner without attempting to throw insults.  I do appreciate it.  (menendez is a pos by the way)
so is the POTUS you seem to align with on many issues , no matter how anyone spins it the POTUS is the biggest peice of shit in the country !
jesus greets me looks just like me ....
